Had agreat time
Had agreat time here....Jerry's Birthday Party in August the best
My First Show
This was my very first band/concert ever. Could there have been any better band to see?! I'm happy to say I carried on the tradition with my son - his first concert was the Dead when he was one and in Santa Fe, NM.
New riders open?
does anyone remember if this was the show where the boys donned intense glitter cowboy suits? I distinctly remember the trails from the reflections coming off those suits but not sure if this was the show...also the fireworks on the top of the stadium that emblazened their names in our minds. Jerry...Bobby...in fireworks! Was I totally out of my head?
First show ever
As I recall, this show was scheduled for earlier in the summer -- rain or shine. Everyone threw away their ticket stub and settled in for a general admission show ( I was not at that show). Well, there was a torrential rain storm, so they had to reschedule. Since people had thrown away their ticket stubs, they offered rain vouchers on the way out. Since not everyone received rain vouchers, they decided the only fair thing ot do was accept either rain vouchers or the original ticket. So there was a mad rush to acquire either. That means this show was almost double capacity. I got in to the makeup show on a high school buddy's extra. A had time was good by all. ANd I think Bobby WAS wearing a cowboy hat for at least some of the show.
RAIN DELAY
damn near riot cuz Scher waited toooo long to cancel...THUNDERBOLTS&LIGHTNING!!!!
My Birthday Too
I was 24 and had a great time. Doesn't anyone else remember that The Band also performed?
My First Dead Show
i was at that show and yes the band was there great show and was that when jerry did not have a beard or was that 74
rescheduled
The show was a make up for a rain outI remember walking by the home plate area and seeing a guy face down in a puddle. When I came back 10 minutes later he was still there.
Roosevelt Stadium
Saw the dead there twice, both great shows.first time, there was no buses running to get to 'the tubes' the train to NYC, we all piled on first bus that came along and hijacked it. poor old bus driver vs 50 or so very intense deadheads! he took us to Journal Square to catch train to NYC n home.
went to another show there while I was out on leave from Navy - a skinhead amidst the tribes. But I went on to spend years in California for many more years of dead delights!
beardless in 1974
