Seems like you need to blow off some, but somewhere else. That shotgun quote at Hal is VERY unkind, not to mention against our good vibe way here. Yes indeedy, you're absolutely right in that we can disagree and argue and have differences of opinion, and all sorts of things here; but Hal's right-personal insults, name calling, and quoting threats like blowing Hal away are against the policy of the site that we all aggreed to when we joined here; and people will speak out against such things. ********************************** It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine

I hope they do some rehearsing before the tour cuz I gutta tell ya-I was NOT IMPRESSED!I hope what I saw/heard was mostly due to bad footage/audio.Because to be perfectly honest-they sounded terrible!maybe It was an off-night(we've all seen those)and maybe the circumstances were a little too weird for them to get into it(I HOPE)Im starting to think someone else might fit better than warren.Im sure THE DEAD will have good and bad shows-just hope my wife and I see a good one(FOR $435.00 A PAIR!!!!)tigerlily-hope you didnt take offense when I said your picture was freakin me out-I LIKE BEIN FREAKED OUT!!! smiles-G

On a good night it was bettern the best sex. The interplay between each other, the sometimes silent, somtimes thundering ques, the ability of any one member to lead the rest of the band down a new path with a simple phrase or chord was improvisation at its finest. Never stuctured, always right on the edge. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. On a bad night like a plane crash. Did someone say coverband??? Who else can pull off Merle Haggard and the Stones in the same set. The mix of country, folk, bluegrass, jazz, blues, and straight ahead rock and roll have never been equalled. Uncle Bobo said it best "Theyre not only the best at what they do, theyre the only ones who do what they do" And then there was the cat in the GD movie "The bottom line is quite simply stated, there is NOTHING like a Grateful Dead concert

Couldnt agree more with you fleaflicker. Late 80s into 90s and Jerrys passing were the low point for the band and the fan base. anyone thats been to a Phil or RD show in the past few years or the Dead 03, 04, can tell you when theyre in that groove its better than ever. Cover band???? Hardly!!! The fans are different too. A lot of old timers (like me) are back on the bus and the youngsters seem to have that spirit of long ago. Of course we'll never replace the 70's. "People joinin hand in hand, while the music plays the band, Lord theyre settin us on fire."

I have never been to a dead show, but i've watched plenty on dvd and still got off just as much...im in college now its an online course for massage therapy, im into natural healing more of a holistic view on life....i believe in a higher power, i believe we all can tap into this inner power with enough meaning behind it....i go around with a smile, instead of a frown....i try to have self control over my feelings and frustrations, i've realized that if you can find entertainment out of those so called stressful situations, you wont find your self getting upset and uptight, instead loose and fun. I live in martinsburg wv i've always been a country girl. born and raised most of my family are good county folks....i was raised on a farm around horses, and i rode alot....i miss it, and hopefully oneday i will be able to raise my future kids on a green pastured farm, i know it was fun for me, and made me unique and different, it taught me responsibility, and love for my family, as well as the horses. I trained them, and it was as if we could understand each other, i fine tune myself to others feelings and pick up alot from people...i guess you could call me a people studier....if someone is feeling a certain way, i can pick up on it and feel their pain/happiness/nervousness....sometimes its not so good, thats why i try to use meditation, a sense of washing away...and letting go...I love to camp out, in fact i own a small trailer that is sitting on a piece of land near the potomac river, its acutally a big campground, its my paradise, and my get a way spot, theirs lots of woods to go hiking in, and nature to be adored, usually people ride golf carts around the park...alot of people go there too, the whole park is surrounded by the river, theres cliffs that people jump off from tehre that are 90ft from the water!! i've jumped before, i am a big dare devil....always have been since a young kid, i loved rollercoasters and bunji jumping!! i like to walk on the wild and dangerous side....i've tried and dabbled into a lot of things in my life....and i dont regret none of it....my camper is all set up, i've got grateful dead bear door beads from www.hippieshop.com also glow in the dark groovy peace signs on teh walls and ceilings...i've got blacklights disco ball...its all shagged out...and the all time greatest party spot....theres also a fire pit, thats where im usually at in the night time, if im not out skinny dippin in the river, lol...i've been swimmin on some cold nights when no one else would...lol i really do love the water especially when im in my fantasy world:) i love to have fun, and get away from reality every now and then...its a nice vacation. im very spiritual, i belive in evolution i dont really buy the whole adam and eve story...however, incase you didnt know, there was another woman created before eve...if your into that stuff....her name was lilith, and she wanted equality, half and half, man and woman....but they wouldnt have it and banished her and created eve....to me im more into the big band theory...atom and egg collide causing supernova blast, and creation of the planets...its pretty crazy how the whole thing is set up....its almost like there has to be some mastermind behind the veil...or could it just simply be natures laws???

I agree. They are definitely worth checking out. Especially for $25... "Escaping through the lily fields, I came across an empty space. It rainbow then exploded, left a bus stop in its place. I haven't seen Hot Tuna for 10 yrs or so, but I caught Jorma Kaukonen a couple of times last year doing his acoustic country blues thing. Very tasty, another old guy who doesn't appear to have lost a step.

Don't miss them. Jamming some, yes. But much of it will be awesome acoustic or electric blues. Hot Tuna is sometimes electric, sometimes acoustic and sometimes both in the same show. Water Song one of my favorites, have never tired of it. Jorma and Jack have been playing together now for over 50 years, since they were teenagers in the D.C. area in the 50's. IMHO the connection they have between themselves in guitar bass interaction is only matched by The Grateful Dead, the original ABB and current ABB. my other favourite psychedelic rock combo. Not a disappointment on those early albums. Hyper-space troopers. My fav clip is Saturday Afternoon at Woodstock - really captures the moment and never ceases to be powerful. "It's a time for growing, And a time for knowing love…" Moye: So true, Hot Tuna were super on that '98 Further Fest. Saw them in Toronto on Arlo's Birthday. Definitely a great band, not to be missed.

most DEFINITELY worth $25......caught them in seattle (yech) a few years ago in a joint called the firehouse or the engine house or sumpin' like that.the music was awesome but the venue was'nt. they charged us $25 for a one topping medium pizza. it was an ok pie but certainly not worth 25 bones.....so we ...uh......"liberated" the pan. i still have it and baked biscuits on it not 2 days ago.

Well now that it's pretty clear we're not getting a Fall Tour has anybody heard anything for the future? It worries me everyday to think something could happen that would prevent me from seeing The Dead ever again. Since 2003 I gave seen every single show possible and am just happy to see anything new come up on the 'Tour' page. Unfortunately I was only 10 years old in '95 and had nobody to introduce me. But anyway hoping for a 2010 Tour or possibly a New Years Show or something west coast in the winter. If anybody has heard anything respectable let me know!! Bobby and Mickey wrote this year that if they keep it up a NEW Album in inevitable!
