    Weir/Daltrey at Winterland
Was there 10/19 thru 10/21, at all shows up very front & personal. Bob was really hitting those down notes, empathically. Pretty sure that was why he broke his strap.Microphone cord, no. They just played out the song & took a brief break. **side note** looking for any pictures from that run in ‘78, specifically 10/19-22. I was there for all those nights, slept on the sidewalk out front. More to follow...

    My first show
We were just kids and the older Deadheads were very kind and looking out for us! I had know idea this band and those people would be such a force in my life. I had no idea I'd found my tribe.

I have listened to these shows at least 5 or 6 times and never commented. Todays the day though, this dancing is out there. Gets so weird and spacey at end is a must have in your collection. If your reading this comment it is because you too love this band to this day. Which to me says you know all about internet archives. So go there and grab a copy.

If my memory serves me well, this is the show where Bob's guitar strap (or the peg it hooks onto) broke during Around and Around. They crew tried to fix it mid-song, Bob got that deer in the headlights look, and Jerry just blazed away. Finally, Bob gave up on the guitar and took the microphone out of the stand. I think he even tried a few Roger Daltrey-style swings. . . or maybe it's just a trick of my Who/Dead fixation . . . see my note for the 12/11/72 Winterland show.

Two of my friends who had traveled to Egypt with the entourage treated me to this show as a consolation prize! I remember this was the first time I'd heard "Shakedown Street" and it was butt-kickingly terrific. "Black Peter" was a well-received rare gem, and throughout the show images from the Egypt experience were projected on a screen behind the stage. The next night was better.
