Grateful Dead

I was here ...main floor about 20 rows back..the music was loose and sometimes tight all in all worth every penny.... My last Dead show w/ Jerry alive...I think he is always present just not alive.

I was in the front row between Phil and Bobby. It was a great China > Rider, IMO.

The night before at The Palace was my last Dead show ever because even though I had killer tickets for this night too, my daughter decided she wanted to be born. My wife and I always thought that was pretty cool.

Although this show was not even close to the best I ever attended, it will always be treasured simply because it was the final time I saw Jerry. It was apparent at the time that he was ailing, and in fact, I recall discussing that with a friend that night. We both agreed that he didn't look good at all. Despite Jerry's obvious ill health, however, he still played excellently at times this night particularly on the opening Half Step, Schoolgirl and Loser.

i only got to see the grateful dead 7 times, between 93' and 95', between the ages of 17 - 19. this was the worse night out of all of them. i drove 5 hours and had a great time, but the magic wasn't there and i felt it was very sloppy. if i recall, jerry had the teleprompter out for the whole show, fumbled the lyrics to lucy in the sky, and had to stop and start over again. i still love and miss jerry though, other nights were awesome.

This was the only show in 95 that I made it out to, and it was my final show. Not only the declining quality of music, but the devastated scene had kept me away that year. I was living in Canada at the time, not far across the border. A good friend called me that afternoon, he had 2 tickets given to him by someone who couldn't make it. They were going to go to waste unless we did something with them. On the spur of the moment we hopped in his car and drove down for the show arriving right when it started. We didn't stick around at all afterward. All, in all, I'm hugely glad I went. You never know when it's the last time. Musically, I remember enjoying the first set and I dug Bobby's acoustic action. The seconds set started tight but lost energy with each song. Compared to the rest of the tour, it was still probably one of the better shows though. This is the last show I was officially in, though I went to most of the rest of the venues (including the Deer Creek Disaster, and St.Louis Campground Collapse~yikes) The person who gave me the ticket for this one kept buying me tshirts and trinkets. I asked him why and he said because he felt like I truly appreciated them. I told him "money can't buy my love" and he said that was not what he was trying to do (right!) so I said "Fine, then you go out there and get me a DIAMOND"---and they gave us Lucy in the Sky. I love my life!

This was my last show before Jerry left this world. I was right up in front, about 5th row, and I could just tell, had a feeling, that the end was near. I remember telling all my tour friends to get out there & see them, and just a few months later it was the end. Very sad. I miss tour

Thank goodness I gave my friend Norris his ticket before I left for the previous day's show. This was before cell-phones and he and I spent most of the day trying to figure out where he was, but luckily when I got to my seat, there he sat. This was one of my better Dead show experiences; compared to the night before, there were a lot more older tunes. MS Half-step, China Cat/Rider and Estimated were all sweet, and no one tried to see if they could fly.

This was one of the last of the few shows I saw, and a hometown one to boot! The Palace has really great acoustics and I thought considering 1995 performance quality it was really great. If anyone has a soundboard of these two show please PM me! :)
