2nd time never as good as 1st
2nd of 3 at MSG. At the time I thought these shows were not as good as the first MSG run. Also, I was hoping the miracle>bertha>good lovin was going to pass as something after drums. Saw it in Rochester 2 days before. The band thought otherwise. I liked it to open 2nd set but not to close the show. Oh well. I sure would love to see it today though instead of listening to it on archive...

Well it is always a trip down memory lane when I listen to the shows from my Freshman Year of attending shows during my senior year of high school in S. Jersey Especially if the venue is still standing. I caught the years first 6 shows, Spectrum, MSG, MSG, Nassau, Nassau, & Spectrum....Wham Bam thank-you Mam. If that doesn't kick-start a kid up for a decade of touring, taping and party party party with other Deadicated likeminded heads nothing much else will. Cub

    Loser eruption?
What happened during Loser at this show? For no reason the crowd erupts! Sort of near the beginning - you can hear it well on Hunter's Trix 63. pokey

Flashes of cops on horseback circling the Garden like indians around Custer ... only meaner. Buying bad LSD, but not realizing it till halfway thru the show. Had a great seat -- should have taken pictures -- but as it was I spent way too much time trying to write down the setlist so I wouldn't forget it. I may be going to hell in a bucket ... but at least I'm enjoying the ride!!!!

My first show. 1st row behind the stage. Lousy view of the band playing, great view of them backstage, great time. Watched them chase some guy down and body slam him between two horses, then drag his limp body away. Guess his night was ruined. Cops were always assholes there. They would approach you in the stairways and see if you wanted to get on the floor for like 10 bucks. I would just tell them no, I prefer to hop the wall for free. Never a dull moment at the Garden. Train ride home full of deadheads was always a trip too!

There was usually a moment in a show where everything just took off and you started floating with the music and the band and the crowd and it was one form of ecstasy where you were outside yourself in a transcendent state And at this show it was during Cassady - the finest rendition of the song I ever heard, it took on many layers of meaning and it rocked. The show was great as usual.
