correct date? probably February 1974 Winterland run
This photo cannot be from the October '74 Winterland run, as captioned.
There is no semi-cylindrical central vocal array, as prominently seen in the GD Movie and many other photos of the October run. In this shot, we see a central vocal cluster composed of individual 2x12 cabinets arrayed in a curved configuration. The only other time the individual cabs are seen making up the vocal array is in the photo from Cow Palace 3/23/74. The cylinder was introduced at the very next show, in Reno, NV on 5/12/74, and is seen at all subsequent shows in 1974.
So this shot must be from a show prior to March 23, 1974, and most probably should be dated as February 22, 23, or 24, 1974.
Is there a photographer to whom this snap can be credited?
P.S., What's UP with Billy's drum kit being placed way over to stage right (audience left)? Anyone attend the February 74 Winterlands remember this being the case?
Stage set up
I'd like to see a larger photo. Billy's drums should be under the central stack as you mentioned, Tom. I saw the full Wall of Sound set-up in Louisville. The photographer credit, above, is listed as Ben Haller.
