    September 26- October 02, 2016

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1970, 1987 and 1989.

Our first stop this week is the opening night of a very famous three night run at the Fillmore East in New York City, on 2/11/70, where we have this exceptional sequence of Dark Star>Lovelight, featuring loads of special guests in one of the best sit-ins the Dead ever hosted live.

Next is the high-energy, fun second set closing sequence from my second Grateful Dead show, on 6/30/87 at Kingswood Music Theatre at Canada’s Wonderland north of Toronto, where we have Space > The Other One > China Doll > Dear Mr. Fantasy > Around And Around > Good Lovin', Box Of Rain.

Lastly this week is the end of the show from 2/7/89 at the Kaiser in Oakland, the last piece of music the Grateful Dead would ever play at their de facto home venue throughout the 1980s, where we have Space >The Wheel >Throwing Stones >Foolish Heart > Good Lovin', Knockin' On Heaven's Door.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

Easily my favorite Lovelight. This show along with the 13th and 14th would make a fantastic box set. I know that probably won't happen because of what's been released on DP4. But it's been 20 years and the remastering quality has increased so I have no doubt these shows would benefit from that. Either way, thank you for this. It's been my listening pleasure.

    Deeto to most extent
There is a small section, near the end of either Lovelight or da other, when the music cascades up, to, around, and back again, a rapture of life. It's a small piece of time wherein this occurs..... one of the greatest experiences in music I have had.

Excellent selections this week! Especially digging the Dark Star on 2-11-70 followed by Lovelight w/ the Allman Brothers Band sitting in. Two Spanish Jams in one week - nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile :)
