    Brutal "Victim Or the Crime"
I know this is a pretty joyless song as it is but what a wild performance! Thanks to Garcia for restoring order....... AND..no cowboy or blues tunes in a first set!

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have some fine Grateful Dead music from 1971, 1974 and 1990.

Our first selection this week is from the final night in Port Chester, NY, on 2/24/71, where we have five songs, three of which are brand new from this week (the first, third and fifth song here): Bird Song; Me And Bobby McGee ; Bertha ; Hard To Handle ; Loser.

Next is some terrific music from 2/23/74, the middle night of a three night run at Winterland at the start of the band’s 1974 live activities, featuring a prototype of the Wall Of Sound, which would be debuted exactly a month later on 3/23/74 at the Cow Palace. From this show at Winterland, we have two newish tracks from Wake Of the Flood: Weather Report Suite>Stella Blue.

Lastly this week is the entire first set from 2/27/90 in Oakland, the final night of a three night run to start 1990, a run of shows that was thankfully recorded to 24-track tape just like the spring tour that started two weeks later. From Oakland, we have Let The Good Times Roll ; Feel Like A Stranger ; Sugaree ; Victim Or The Crime ; Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodleloo ; When I Paint My Masterpiece ; Bird Song.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.
