I remember the fireworks at
I remember the fireworks at the end of set one. That's about all!
Funny you mention those fireworks
Glad to be back on the long road home.As I saw it they were exploding from within Billy's drums! Not possible you say.
Well, the wall of sound was swaying like a "ship of fools", and I couldn't tell how Bob Weir could play that well with only one arm!
P.S.
This was to be a three show run, but they just couldn't get unloaded and down to Jersey after Watkins Glenn.
Also, Phil was at the sound board during the Band.
Fireworks
I remember the fireworks too, but thought they were both on stage and in the sky. Jersey City was pretty raw, but the show was fun. I remember a Rheingold beer sign, all illuminated. The Band played a good opening set, I wish I could remember what they played. I think the crowd was restless for the DEad and wanted them to hurry off.
The First of the First
I must have gone both nights. The song list is VERY familiar. I clearly remember the Tennessee Jed. That was the first time Jerry "looked at me"!
This was my first concert
This was my first concert after enlisting in the Air Force, basic training, and tech school. I probably had the shortest hair in the place. I had a great time. It's a REAL good thing no AP's strolled by my location as I "partook" of what was "partakable".
My first show, I can only
My first show, I can only remember the glow in the dark frisbees floating throughout the stadium
This was my second show and
This was my second show and I always consider it to be the best show I ever saw. Garcia was very animated that night and I just remember hearing every note he played a clear as a bell! The fireworks were set off when the band went back into the Playing the Band after an amazing jam. I also remember Loose Lucy being very cool, as it is the first time I ever heard the song.
Those fireworks
I remember my pals and myself staring up at the fireworks long after they stopped. The Bear must have been there!
usual suspects
all the bay terrace & bay ridge folks were there... what a nite in the stadium and parking lot Weasel was 15 and in charge of the biggest party i ever saw
First Dead Show
Vague memories of the Band. The tower of speakers looked like they could tumble at any time. Jerry seemed to be floating above the stage and the whole show felt surreal, especially with the fireworks.
Best of the best
I've been to lots of dead shows and this one was my favorite. It was a very friendly and communal atmosphere -- everyone was sharing, giving away litlle pictures of Mr. Natural. The Band was great and did two sets. It was an epic show that went all through the night -- I remember Bob Weir saying "Do you know what time it is?" as the eastern sky started to lighten. And it was Jerry's birthday!
1st GD show!-Aug. 1st,1973
I remember tripping & following the crowd into Roosevelt Stadium in NJ -watching The Band 1st ,then The Dead playing St.Steven,Dark Star & Casey Jones.Tripping & dancing/screaming- Wow!!! Never Forget you guys! I also remember people behind me helping me to whatever I needed (since I was Trippin'! )
Love/Peace...PS- Still following Furthur ,Ratdog ,etc..
Rain, then sunshine
My memory...The Band opened, and it poured rain during at least the last part of their set. i recall them doing "The Night they Drove Old Dixie down in a downpour. Dead came out...and the sun came out.
