We got us a fine dusbriving coolhead, a leader who knows how to lead, a timekeeper with up-to-the-second accuracy, rounded to the nearest day, and a whole passel of riders who know how the songs go. Hope your coffee is just right, the son shines down on you, and all your music is crispo and clear. Ice cream,? Why thank you, I like Jerry's Cherry Garcia...miss him tho..     I just read your post Graceful....and I am crying like a little girl..... 8/9/95....at work, saving lives and a co worker comes up to me and said, Jerry is dead.... I walked around in a fog the rest of the day....when I found out Bobby had Ratdog on the road and didn't cancel his tour.....I wrote him out of my life....selfish SOB I thought.... I boycotted all things post dead until 2003 when the Dead announced the 2003 tour with Herring and Joan....sat 12th row with my then 15 yo daughter, saw Hunter, Dylan and the Boys.... Opened with a long jam into Music Never Stopped>Casey Jones.... Back on the bus....since....in a very obsessed and some would call sick way....since then both parents died, and despite my wonderful wife of 31 years and 3 magnificent children....here I sit crying... ....there's something about a Sunday, makes a body feel alone.... I too Miss Jerry, and my parents....and you guys who I feel like I know.... disclaimer .....second anniversary of my dads passing.... I'll be better tomorrow...promise.... Coffee is on....

    Just checking in for the first time this day I am moved by graceful's comments and others' as well. I am generally not a "joiner" but I'm am so grateful I signed up for this ride with this group.

We braved high water (literally) yesterday and the sacred thumb has landed! It has already been debriefed, re-packed and all it now needs is Steve/Roadking's mailing address to resume its return to the east coast when USPS reopens on Tuesday. BTW: Has anybody heard where DEADSPACE1 and DEADSPACE2 are hanging out these days? If anybody needs it, my mailing address is: Jeff Smith; PO Box 1126; Fort Davis, TX 79734
