Gergelis, you crack me up everyday. My office neighbors must hear my laughing through the walls. Well, quite a few of we biologists are GD lovers so they understand. They know I'm cracked. LOL! Yah, we all need some flexibility and knowing that we all are doing the best that we can as we travel through this land. Like I eluded to yesterday, some sweet Viking mamas or Egyptian goddesses might delay my arrival to said picnic. I did a Google ruler measurement. It's between 0.5-0.6 miles from the museum to the super secret picnic location. Watch out for them teddy bears trying to get on the dus.

ba dus is on autopilot and will stop for stray cats, dogs and heads... appreciate the well wishes Totes, and hope you're correct... re. High noon....time is relative and always has been, Totes, Lainie Bear and I will be at the museum in the morning....and after pic a nic.... However we need a window of arrival time, to expect every camper to be there for a photo op at exactly high noon is risky at best....and lacks necessary wiggle room and fluidity.... busy city busy weekend and people from all over....walking, biking, cabbing, ubering, crawling and limping there... Provided tickets are in hand Elaine and I will be there....Scott and Rosalie are a lock.... Hey look it's Brian Setzer....gotta slow down....hop on...there's a seat next to Fester....grab some coffee... you got something to say? The floor is all yours..... Well, we're having a ball just a-bopping on the big dance floor Well, there's a real square cat, he looks a 1974 Well-ell, he looked at me once, he looked at me twice Look at me again and there's a-gonna be fight We're gonna rock this town We're gonna rip this place apart We're gonna rock this town Rock it inside out We're gonna rock this town Make 'em scream and shout Let's rock, rock, rock, man, rock We're gonna rock till we pop We're gonna rock till we drop We're gonna rock this town Rock this place apart after reading back the lyrics...not the best choice of song...let's try Stray Cat Shuffle....it's the bees knees....

Field Museum Important Info for Saturday
Am I allowed to leave The Field Museum and come back later? Yes, if you come back on the same day and have your tickets handy. So you can leave the museum, make the Pik-A-Nik for lunch, and return to the Museum if so your pleasure tends. I am geeky, so I will be at the museum most of the morning, picnicteer, then return to the museum for some jazzy Dead and Archive/ GDTS exhibit. It's all in the same area (museum is about 1/2 mile from the picnic). For those that missed the ticket link yesterday, there is a link to the event below. Everything is Dead at The Field Museum All The Years Combine: Deadhead Treasures From The Grateful Dead Archive & GDTS Too Drawing on the extensive collection of the band’s own archive, All The Years Combine: Deadhead Treasures From The Grateful Dead Archive & GDTS Too features material from every part of the Grateful Dead’s career that document the special bond between the Grateful Dead family and their family of fans. Visitors will have the opportunity to see band and fan correspondence, decorated ticket request envelopes, newsletters, drawings, posters, tickets, backstage passes, and fan-made concert tapes. Jazz & Colors: Wave That Flag July 4, 12:30pm – 3pm, performances throughout the Museum, included with admission Following the success of Jazz & Colors in New York’s Central Park and Jazz & Colors: The Masterworks Edition at the acclaimed Metropolitan Museum of Art, Jazz & Colors comes to Chicago’s Field Museum with a more focused and intimate experience. Jazz & Colors: Wave That Flag will feature local jazz musicians performing in various parts of the Museum taking on the songbook of the Grateful Dead for two sets of music on Saturday, July 4th. Jazz & Colors is a co-production of The Field Museum and the promoters and performers of Fare Thee Well. http://www.fieldmuseum.org/at-the-field/programs/everything-dead-field-…

said tyhe cat in the hat in the back.... Fine job of steering da dus, rgrrrgrr, and taking those curves at just the right speed. Tis quite a shiny badge you've got there... I like the steelie face logo and Captain Rich tag. Anyone catch the Smithsonian Channel's Aerial America last night? It featured Illinois, and had several majestic aerial flights over Chicago. I was hoping they would fly over Buckingham Fountain, and sure enough they did...the area for our meet-up just to the SE of the fountain loomed right up large in my screen. The trees looked a bit shaggy, the lawn green, and my heart skipped a beat at the vision of deadheads everywhere converging on that area in a couple of short weeks....here is the link, etc: http://www.smithsonianchannel.com/shows/aerial-america/illinois/701/340… As we get closer to our destinations...rggrrgr promised to drive a bit more slowly (right!) or at least slow enough for the deadheads along the way to get on...as we approach California, there may be a sea of people around us...make sure you wave and say high to them... Matter of fact, practice smiling and greeting your neighbors today, here on this ride, at home in your hood, and elsewhere as the opportunities arise. You never know who is needing that special twinkle and smile and you may have one at the perfect time. Make a difference today friends if you can, and if that isn't in the cards, help someone who is. To each and all, the skies are yellow and the sun is blue...I hear music around the next bend...how 'bout some cookies and milk everyone. geolikescookiesandmilkandmusicandsmilesandwavesandpeacemeister

suffice it to say that we are rolling.... rolling right along So glad that liketohike and Ozark hopped on, it appears that Stella Moon has awakened from her golden slumbers and Mayor Klangstone is in for another go around. It's good to know they are still alive and well. So without further adieu I will turn the driving over to Miami, you'll be in good hands with Miami, she's an excellent driver and buys all her underwear at K Mart (or so I'm told). I'm headed to the back with Mr. Trump and watch him drain the swamp, who knows, maybe I can land a cabinet position? Sarge, put on the TV....5 minutes to Wapner. Coffee's on...

Hey now geomeister! So glad you graced us with your presence. The collective conscience of the Dead community is alive and well. Be sure to know you will travel with me in spirit at each and every show I happen upon, promise. It will never be the extravagance of FTW but I am sure there will be more laughs, smiles, hugs and twirls ahead in this journey of life after Jerry. It's funny how every time a new tour is announced, we all come out of hibernation. Feel free to wander about ba dus, grab a cup of coffee and tap your foot to the tunes, Sarge is cueing up some Old and In the Way for you now, is Midnight Moonlight ok? Thought so. There's a seat next to Ivanka back to the right, come to think of it the whole Trump clan is sitting on the right, I wonder why? Hey Donald, get your head back in the window, if that squirrel blows off your dome again, I swear I'm not going back for it this time, and STOP tweeting, it's unprofessional.

Hey! I can offer my thoughts having seen Bob and his band in Cincinatti in January. Our show was about 1/2 acoustic and 1/2 electric. It, of course, featured a lot of songs from the Blue Mountain album. Bob also did some of the Dead songs that lent themselves to acoustic play. For the electric part, he had the guys from the National. They do OK. Some of the more traditional GD songs were good, but, and I hope this is not bad to say, I don't think they are quite strong enough musicians to pull off the improvisation that makes some songs "Dead" songs. They attempted Dark Star at our show and I felt that it sorely needed a lead guitar. But... overall it was great. It's always a treat to see Bob live in any context. I like the cowboy stuff so I was happy to hear those live. And, being with all of our brothers and sisters again is always a joy! Here is the setlist from my show: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/bob-weir/2017/proctor-and-gamble-hall-cin… Enjoy the show! Peace, -Dave

Matt I am sure you will see a solid show. Circumstance and work commitments prevented me from attending the Ryman show last October, but liketohike and hubby were there and I am told it was very good. As Dave said, it's the players, the National, while good are not suited for the extended jams, last month Bobby filled in for Dave Nelson and his band on tour in Alaska, he played half Blue Mountain, and half Dead, the Dead and solo stuff was amazing thanks to the backing players....Pete Sears and Barry Sless on pedal steel made the music alive...I don't know who Bobby will have but you will enjoy yourself.... stay well

thanks for the insight. that is about what i expected from what i've read. currently listening to a show from last october...not bad. i, too, have always liked cowboy bob, so, one way or another, this will be a show. weir with dave nelson sounds awesome. i'll see if i can find that anywhere.

The show was really good. Song selection WAS excellent, execution excellent, some nice jams. as you and Rich suggested, it would be a good, solid show...and it was good to good very good, and some moments really shined. Deep Ellum Blues was a rave-up, especially as the venue was about a mile from the original Deep Ellum section of Dallas. GDTRFB was probably my highlight, my wife really appreciated Easy to Slip. STOM plodded a bit IMO, Althea was uneven but good. The crowd turned Truckin into a sing along and drowned out the band. it was fun bt I can't tell you if was good or not. Bob stepped up to the mike and just ignored the lyric "Dallas!"..it seemed spontaneous. This show seemed to have more "red dirt" west Texas influence in the Blue Mountain songs than what I've sampled on YouTube. "When in Rome...", I guess. There was a new song they played that was more jazz-blues than west Texas..I'll have to figure out which it was...that was my "new" song highlight. I think by the end of the tour they'll stretch it out to a nice jam. I, too, was a little disappointed in the lead guitar work. I've heard Kimock before, and liked him, but last night, something was just not there for me. He was not bad at all...he just was not exceptional. I know it is not fair to hold Garcia, or even Anastasio or Mayer, as the standard when listening to Dead songs, but I do. So that is the context in which I say he was not exceptional. All in all...I've seen Weir as the Bob Weir band way long ago, Ratdog in many of its lineups, and then last night...last night was certainly the most unique, and maybe the most enjoyable of maybe 10 or 12 Bobby-led shows I've been. I would certainly go again. The venue's acoustics are exceptional, too, so that made it that much better.

glad you liked the show, reviews I've read were positive...there will never be another Jerry, so we may as well stop the comparisons... On a different note Matt, ever try Brother Thelonius White Belgian Ale....although I prefer IPA's, this California brew is kick ass in taste as well as ABV, over 9 percent.... Regards to the missus, our birthdays are right around the virtual corner.... be well....
