    What a Long Strange Trip
    Getting to these shows was the longest strangest trip I've been on. Two of us decided to drive from Boston to Palo Alto because we had a feeling that they were going to play The Race Is On for the first time in 3 years. We also had some friends in Boulder that we wanted to visit which turned out to be a good thing. From the time we entered Illinois, our engine started smoking whenever we touched the brakes. We got into Boulder and my friend said "That's a lot of smoke coming out of the engine" to which I replied "That's fire coming out of the engine." We both got out, took our stuff out, and found someone to call the fire department. We took a cab to our friends who knew someone looking for riders so we went from Boulder to Palo Alto with them and still made it in 72 hours despite the car change. Coming home was a Greyhound ride back. And yes, they did play The Race Is On.
