And now - Electric on the Eel 1991

8/10/91 - a five-star-give-it-ten-if-i-could favorite from the tape days back in the mid 90s. Awesome that it got released in that box - beautiful sound and show. Shout out to Proudfoot for mentioning that box and steering me here.

Sing Out! - Kate Wolf set

Let's Get Together (just played) and now the jaybirds calling on Like a River

Fell in love with Kate's voice and music back in late '80s. Great to have this live set as part of a SEVA benefit concert that includes other favorite musicians of mine (thank you Bear).

I can hear Garcia saying to Weir thru the thick cloud of hash smoke,
"Hey Weir, we don't have our guitars" and Weir says, "No worries Jer, we'll just rent some" lol

everyone enjoy your weekend, if you can

    The 9-25-76 show.
    Just exactly perfect.
Was using it to A/B test two CD players and the music never stopped.
Oddly the mid 90s CD changer sounds better in the bigger better newer system, and the newer (4 years old) cheaper player sounds better in the 70s college era system now in the bedroom. Didn't expect that.
    Cheers

I feel we are all islands - in a common sea.....

Forgive me friends, I'm on a March (rock and) roll..............

Iowa City, March 20, 1971. Poor March, betwixt and between Port Chester and April, oh such a fate!!!

Maybe that's why it rarely gets the love and respect. Yet, it's worthy. Very generous dose of grease, mix in some Bakersfield/country/western, stir with rock & roll, and there you go---good old Grateful Dead!

OK, so maybe not a "Desert Island Show", but if I was stranded it would help me survive until the rescue party arrives................

Sorry, rockers, no quiz this time---unless somebody wants to venture a guess as to how many chairs were stacked on the sides of the floor at this show. Good luck! Oh and by the way, congratulations to Proudfoot, he had the first correct answer for the 3/14/71 quiz---stand alone Wharf Rat................

Little islands are all large prisons: one cannot look at the sea without wishing for the wings of a swallow.......

    Rock on,

    Doc
The larger the island of knowledge, the longer the shoreline of wonder......

Just received my Dave's Picks Vol. 21!What a great show/recording!1973-That was the year of my very first Dead show in Buffalo,New York! For fellow New York State'ers, some may remember that was the year of Governor Nelson Rockefeller's new get tough anti drug laws going into effect...of which "Don't get caught holding the bag!''was the slogan on all the commercials!Anyway,me and a buddy hitchhiked from Niagara Falls to Buffalo's War Memorial Auditorium to see the Dead when, walking through the parking lot we were searched and busted with weed! The cops took our weed and then let us go with a warning-that almost blew the evening for us but fortunately the Dead and the wall of sound made us forget about the cops by the second song!(at least I think it was a wall of sound show-I know I saw it!)It was billed as two two hour sets-which it was probably more!Vol 21 is pretty much the same set list as that October show as I remember it.(without checking).Great memories of a life changing time in my life-I was 16 years old then and I turn 60 in April!I probably have heard some Dead or JGB almost every day since then!
