Today is my birthday. How did I not know it was Phil's...... Listening to Road Trips Vol. 3 No. 3 Fillmore East 5-15-70. Boy do I like this Dark Star. Feeling Groovey arrangement is always good, but this one is exceptional. This is one of the few releases where the playing order of the songs on the CDs doesn't do it for me, due to the mixing up of the electric and acoustic, the early and late shows, and the 14th and 15th, as well as the repeated somgs). I've gone and made my own Playlists of just electric in one and acoustic in the other. The electric is great. This is what I came up with: Casey Jones New Minglewood Blues Easy Wind New Speedway Boogie (Bonus Disc) St. Stephen (Bonus Disc) Attics Of My Life Beat It On Down The Line Hard To Handle Cosmic Charlie China Cat Sunflower I Know You Rider Good Lovin' Cumberland Blues That's It For The Other One Dark Star Morning Dew Not Fade Away (Bonus Disc) Turn On Your Lovelight (Bonus Disc) The transition from St. Stephen to Attics works unexpectedly well. I removed that wailing banshee scream band intro before Casey Jones. Who was she, the bar maid? The only problem now, is that the songs are largely out of order, and there are several fade-outs. I can correct this with an editor, as I did with High 'N Hawaii (the other show I found had pacing issues - must be a 1970 thing). I would love to hear what others think of this release. It gets a lot of attention on eBay. This may be the biggest road trips release far as how high people will pay on Ebay for a new one with bonus disc. 73 and 74 with bonus are also up there, but my point is - people love this release. Is it the acoustic stuff? Is it because it's the Fillmore?

Another great Phil moment in recent years is the FTW Help/Slip/Franklin. Phil takes over on the Skipknot->Franklin jam and I am amazed by it every time. One of the highlights of the Friday show for me.

Right on BCE'd. No need to understate the brilliance of Phil and his impact on the band's sound. Quirky.. yes.. not always a great singer, but hey.. its alright, its just Phil. There's little doubt when the entire band was on.. you were in for a great show. When Garcia was on shows were generally fantastic.. but Jerry is quoted early on saying 'when Phil was on, the whole band was on.' So true. I had my Phil epiphany during an early listening of Caution. I forget the exact show but it also had a great That's It For The Other One. Two explosive, jaw dropping Phil moments. Tonight might just see a partial viewing of PL&F's Live at the Warfield DVD. During the transition between The Eleven and Caution, he turns his back to the crowd and faces his stack, noodling and getting some feedback. Then he drops his custom six string and grabs his old reliable four string axe, faces the crowd and breaks into that epic Caution bass riff. What follows is magic starting with sultry Joan Osborne showing her inner pig and belting out some blues, she really gets into it. Really good Phil stuff. Happy Birthday Phil!

Looks like there is a preview on the all music page with Peggy-o and Estimated Prophet. Not planning on listening at this point, although I may succumb to temptation later. Kind of like to have the first listen on the stereo instead of the laptop.

I have resorted to cutting out the letters of the venue and the date of the show I am working with using scissors and cutouts from random magazines. I like to carefully arrange it all on the screen of my printer, adding some tasteful artwork then pressing the copy button and quickly placing my derriere on top just the machine lights up. If all is well, I don't break anything, wake anyone up or get hurt. Most of my covers are all quite good, but I am partial to the ones where I am sporting some paisley boxers and a hot dye.

I wonder if perhaps the "system" thinks that most of the sets are allocated through all of those that are in carts of transactions which can't be completed.I got as close as putting in all my information only to be kicked back to the cart...this has been going on for hours now. As far as caring about this mess, I don't think that TPTB do or will. We are a "captive" audience. They shit on us and we keep coming back... If anyone should be embarrassed or ashamed it should be Dave LeMieux. He is the face of these projects and as much as I appreciate his efforts up front culling the music together, their inability to seal the deal sucks.

The fact that the Cornell show can be easily pre-ordered on Amazon while we stew over here is almost doubly infuriating. And this is overpriced, as many of these have been with the exception of the '72 box.

Thanks for the tip Scott!! I just picked up the 5LP set on Amazon. Doesn't look like Amazon has the multi-show box though. Too bad. GDnet should just outsource their entire ridiculous shitshow of purchase/fulfillment to Amazon -- or to almost literally anyone else who would do a better job than we're seeing here today.

What A Laugh

First my account (which I haven't used in years) was disabled and I needed to re-register. The I got four sets in my cart. The I corrected this. Then I tried to check out. and here I sit trying to spend money on music which was publicly available until the greed took over which is about the same time my account went dormant. I don't know why I fell for yet another cash grab. I'm out. I'll dig out my CD-R copies of the show I downloaded from the archive years ago and wish all those struggling with the mess well.

What a terrible experience

I've been trying for hours now on this pathetic excuse for an e-commerce site. Might as well go back to Mail order for these releases. The issue seems to be when the cart tries to figure out the taxes for your state from the delivery info dialog box. That is if you can get that far without getting bounced or forbidden. I've been staring at a spinning circle for a while now waiting for tax info to fill in so I can move to the payment options. Add more clouds or something this seems like an easy fix.

Pre Ordering

Maybe they have a release date in May so they can get all the orders sorted by then.On hopes Warners is reading all of this and the other comments sites. Okay so their store can't handle it but what about some communication with their base. How hard would it be to send an email to the list with a simple and clear explanation of what is happening, is it sold out, are thousand of copies sitting in our carts, etc. and what to do from here. Do we all stop for an hour or so while they fix the problem? I once managed to get through to the checkout stage to find nearly 20 copies in my cart and git the error message when I tried to update. Three times got to the final check out confirm order when it reverted to the Add to Cart page. This should not be hard, just fix it or we will just forget it and download the Flac files from Pirate Bay.

I have listened to this show many times, from many sources. The download of scarlet-->fire gave me goosebumps. I'm hearing things I never noticed. Such sweet ear nectar to soothe my frazzled mind after 4 hours of anxiety about missing out.

77 Box

Like most of us I have been to countless shows and own most of what has been released including all box sets. My wife and I spent most the day being disconnected from the phone system and getting all the way to checkout only to have everything go wrong. I wanted 1 box and 1 vinyl. I took a screen shot of my attempted order and mailed it to them. Perhaps that will count for something. What is the matter with these people. A buddy at work did not understand my anger and finally I said "this is not about business this is about family and our family being abused". Still not sure he understood but THEY should. Some nice 86 shows from the HJK just got uploaded to YouTube. I was at this run of shows. Good times with good people-family. Let's hope the powers that be recognize the magnitude of this mistake and make it right.

Just got mine!

Keep trying!. I've just managed to complete my order of the 11-CD boxed set, and I received a confirmation email, after many many failed attempts. This has been a debacle for sure, but at least it's not yet sold out. If it's any help, I found Chrome worked best for me; I was also trying MS Edge and Firefox. The boxed set is over-priced (particularly when I factor in the almost inevitable customs charges to the UK), but once in a while you've got to just pull the trigger. Good luck everyone!

Had It, then Bupkis

I finally was able to get to my cart, delete the 2nd copy that was put there due to multiple rejections, and fill out all but the delivery method, which was greyed out with a "waiting" circle. I dutifully waited and then got timed out. 30 minutes later I got that far again but Delivery was still not functional. Now I can't even get to my cart. Hopefully someone may have taken the cart down to fix the problem Hope so. These are trying times, indeed.
