that's kinda funny...that pic on www.theschwag.com is super old school...only two of the four pictured are still playing with the band. The guys from EOTO/String Cheese will be playing with them in September at Schwagstock (and with their side projects of course)....overall The Schwag are sounding better than ever right now....check em out on archive.org....just search "the schwag" and sort by date...I highly recommend the 8/1/09 show (wink, wink). The Schwag is the best around (sounds funny saying that) :) "In a bed, in a bed, by the waterside I will lay my head. Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul."

I'm especially fond of their version of "Prodigal Town," a Hunter tune. There's an article about them here.

Oh yeah, gotta have the celtic dead tunes. Saw them one night in Pt Reyes on a trip to NoCal a few years back the night before a cancer walk. They still play & put a nice Celtic twist to the dead. If you ever get the chance to see Wake the Dead, go for it!! Life's too short to be blue...

We agree strongly with Good ol GD about his view of The Schwag and Camp Zoe...the venue is absolutely beautiful with a natural amphitheatre setting of bluffs nestled in a valley...The Schwag creates one of the most amazing scenes we have experienced...they are truly keeping the familiar vibes of the Grateful Dead alive. The prices are always kind, and you can't beat their private security, camp where you park-park where you camp set-up, not to mention a bath-house with warm showers and flushing toilets. Truly heaven on earth!!! www.campzoe.com www.theschwag.com Virgil & Marina Buy a Dye...Feed a Hippie www.feedahippie.com

+1 on Jakes Leg. Oh, the hours we spent, in Twenty North, where Jakes Leg was the house band. (Randy, guitar player owned the bar.) Back then, one of my best friends played bass for 8 years(?) for the band, another worked the door, another tended bar. Heaven in St. Louis.

I've been wondering if there is indeed a market here in LA for a tribute act. One that spotlights their Americana/Cocaine Cowboy years and goes full acoustic like "Reckoning" Does your tribute act do well?

Even though I am new to the band and the scene, I am really interested in seeing a camp out show of some good dead tracks? I live in the Mid Atlantic area and don't know where I should get started. Any thoughts?

Hello, we play Dead tunes out of Carbondale, Illinois, and call ourselves quite aptly - Another Dead Cover Band. Right now, we're trying to set up some social sites to maybe get playing a few more venues in the area, and it has become important to seek out some form of correspondence regarding obtaining permissions to upload mp3s of us playing shows. Is this allowable? (Is this an applicable forum?) Thanks for any/all help ~ ADCB

What do Electric Hummus, Dead Jam and the Grateful Friends all have in common? They are all Boston area tribute bands led by Todd Lena (lead guitar player, singer and band leader). Todd is one of the very best Jerry style guitar players on the planet. When I play some of Todd's music for a Dead Head, they think it's a trick. They don't recognize the singer, but they think it's Jerry playing the lead guitar.

Bar none, the best tribute band I've personally seen. Based in DFW, they occassionally go on the road. Keep an eye out.
I have not seen them since Kenny Withrow left the band, but the rhythm and drums are intact.

Hey y'all. Wanted to post some info for my band called Tumbledown Shack based out of Fort Collins, Colorado! Check out our website below for dates.

TumbledownShackband *dot com

5 piece band that plays up and down the front range of Colorado. We play anywhere from 2-10 shows a month, full band electric and smaller acoustic shows. Check out our website for all our upcoming dates. We also do private events if you're interested in having us at your wedding, party, or similar!

We recently opened for Zach Nugent and Dead Set and our Bob player (Tony) got to play Bobby's "No Fun" guitar which was played at over 100 Grateful Dead shows!

We got a LOT of talent here in Central Texas. My channel, Reverb and Rhythm is documenting some of it and broadcasting it out to the world. Check it out on YouTube @ReverbandRhythm and on Instagram @reverb.and.rhythm.
