"When we began discussing audio projects to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead back in 2012, we knew we wanted to do something completely unprecedented. We could think of nothing more exciting or ambitious than a career-spanning overview of the band's live legacy focused on what best tells the story: complete concerts. Our first criterion was the very best live music to represent any given year in the band’s history. We wanted to make sure that there were not only the tent-pole shows that fans have been demanding for decades but also ones that are slightly more under the radar, but equally excellent. For those who listen to the entire box straight through, chronologically, the narrative of the Grateful Dead's live legacy will be seen as second to none in the pantheon of music history." - David Lemieux

We are more than pleased to announce the Grateful Dead's most ambitious release ever: 30 TRIPS AROUND THE SUN. Available as both an 80-disc boxed set and a custom lightning-bolt USB drive, the collection includes 30 unreleased live shows, one for each year the band was together from 1966 to 1995, along with one track from their earliest recording sessions in 1965. Packed with over 73 hours of music, both the boxed set and the USB drive will be individually numbered limited editions.

The 80-disc boxed set is individually numbered and limited to 6,500 copies, a nod to the band’s formation in 1965. Along with the CDs, it also includes a gold-colored 7-inch vinyl single which bookends the band’s career. The A-side is “Caution (Do Not Stop On Tracks)” from the band’s earliest recording session in 1965 with the B-side of the last song the band ever performed together live, “Box Of Rain” recorded during their final encore at Soldier Field in Chicago on July 9, 1995.

The box also comes with a 288-page book that features an extensive, career-spanning essay written by Nick Meriwether, who oversees the Dead archives at the University of California, Santa Cruz, along with special remembrances of the band submitted by fans. Also included is a scroll that offers a visual representation of how the band’s live repertoire has evolved through the years.

The USB drive version* will be shaped like a gold lightning bolt with the Grateful Dead 50th anniversary logo engraved on the side. The drive includes all of the music from the collection in both FLAC (96/24) and MP3 formats and is an individually numbered limited edition of 1,000 copies. Digital version of the book also included on USB.

Shows will NOT be sold individually on CD. This release is sure to sell out quickly so pre-order your copy today and stick around as we will be revealing a mighty fine selection of music, art, and much, much more right here.

(Looking for a smaller 50th Anniversary commemorative keepsake? September 18th will see the release of a four-CD version of the collection titled 30 TRIPS AROUND THE SUN: THE DEFINITIVE LIVE STORY 1965-1995. More on that here.)

Email Dr. Rhino with your order confirmation number, address etc. I copied and pasted from my dead.net receipt.Explain that you did not receive your Box. I'm not so sure that they are 'holding' some people's Boxes as much as maybe they royally screwed up on generating shipping labels or something like that.

I listen to soundboard show of Dijon 74 while expecting my USB Stick. It is such a beautiful show. First Karakoe Dead: you can sing on Loose Lucy and Big rivers. Jerry never included Loose Lucy in the set list until Spring 90 and the nineties; very difficult song for vocals? The big river then floods and reminds me of Europe 72 Soundcheck in Luxembourg.Great Keith and Phil, Then Peggy O flies like a dove and Bob pours a drink for all, the best he could have done in Dijon, Best place for wine in the world. Magical moments. I am quite sure Dave turned crazy about this Playing ITB. and so many Mars Hotel songs, only Unbroken chain is really missing.Cheers...

The good Doctor came through.....UPS just delivered my box. My neighbor texted me that UPS dropped something off. I rushed home from work to find my long-awaited 30 Trips Box.I never received a tracking number. Anyone who is still waiting, you have to email Dr. Rhino to 'release' your Box. drrhino@rhino.com Heading back to work, will evaluate my Box tonight. I have 13 of the 30 shows on CD-R, so I'm psyched for the HDCD upgrade on those. Been wanting a sound quality improvement on 10-27-79 for years.

My box is still showing as back ordered and I don't have anything listed in my UPS My Choice. I called customer service and they did not help at all. Has anyone else who is still waiting received any info?

Absolutely incredible (in case you haven't heard). There's something harmonic going on with the guitars right before the "Sometimes the light" chorus in Truckin'. Also an amazing solo by Sr Jerry in Franklin's Tower. And for my money, it doesn't get any better than them doing When a Man Loves a Woman, scratch that, I mean Milking the Turkey. It's all fantastic, I love it love it love it. And where else do you have babies born at concerts than a Dead show (I'm still not sure if they were serious about that - but they sure sound serious). But also check out The Other One => Wharf Rat from St. Louis '71. Pigpen's organ work on Wharf Rat is sublime.

Thx for the heads-up that the Dave's Pick's subscriptions are now available for 2016. I didn't get the notification email that I had been expecting (and many of us had been talking about...wondering where it was). But sure enough after a google search the link shows up. Sneaky Dave.

I had the "pleasure" of seeing the Albany, New York, show. It was...great! I would strongly suggest, if possible, to catch one of their shows on this tour. I bet the Madison Square Garden shows were also a treat to see. Mr. Pete-------> aging hippie p.s. don't forget to order Dave's Picks 2016 subscription if you are one who does so. I never got any info on it via the normal email messages. I have always received some notification that it was ready for subscription sale. I noticed one of your comments and then did a google search to find it. I know that I would have been a "bit" upset if it had sold out without me knowing it.

This offering from 30 Trips is a classic Bruce/Vinnie show! The whole fall 1990 tour really. For a band who just hired two new players this tour has some mighty fine moments. New York to the UK and more! Good stuff!
