Those are all very kind words. I've spent the last week finishing a glass piece that I started over a year ago. It is extremely rewarding hanging infront of one of my windows. Life's a trip man, to say the least. I'm going to meet one of the other x-students tomorrow for a beer after work. She unfortunately spent everything she had and moved here from San Francisco. I'm getting her a job and will definately buy the drinks. Getting blind sided definately sucks but I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason. Life is full of obstacles and I, just like the rest of us, have come across my share. There is no point in sheltering yourself from reality and the world when unwillingly placed in the spotlight. With that in mind I will only perservere and continue to thrive in my own assbackwards fucked little mind that I for one consider creative. I made a beautiful pile of sticks the other day. It was shaped like a big egg and took me almost four hours. I'd love to share photos. I don't mind falling back on my trade. At least its not my degree! I'm more than likely going to get this job which will pay me about forty a year. Not too shabby. Mental clarity of course is more important, but I'll take it where I can get it these days. Thanks and love. Chris

The one called Tim speaks truth. You should make a movie about the whole deal, cinema verite like, call it "the Shit Creek Project" or something. Shoot it on the cheap and post it in episodes on YouTube. Stillshots get posted here at dead.net. Stay rooted in the facts, but feel free to insert copious amounts of weirdness (example: the director didn't die, he was kidnapped by Men in Black being mind controlled by aliens who don't want your awesome talent released. Its a conspiracy!). Gonzo moviemaking. And you've got a bunch of 'heads that will take care of the viral marketing. You've got a year, so it better be good. And don't forget my executive producer credit ;^D Hang in, bro', and cheers, MarkintheDark

hey chris, sometimes these things happenfor a reason we can't see until later. having done a lot of swimming in shit's creek myself, i can tell you... dig in man, don't get thrown by it, there is something greater going on that maybe none of us can see yet. keep your art going, find a way to do it without the benefit of the school for now, you will get stronger, your art will become unbreakable through this. these are all just creative obstacles that all the people we call artists have to get through, survive, and WHEN you do, you'll see its not a setback, but a test of whether you really WANT it. look around, see how much good you got in your life, cherish it, and let it out into your art. you gotta turn shit creek into sweetwater lake baby! I just saw the whole first leg of the tour is sold out. Congrats! Now, when are they going to announce the rest of the west coast shows? A Monday night in Portland in March I can live without but a show down south somewhere so I could head out to the desert afterwards and soak up some sun would be sweet! Sunshine Daydream...

I finally got an iPhone for Christmas and, by far, my must have app is The Dead Tour 2009, which lets us have a total record—photos, vids, streaming audio, rehearsals, news feeds, set lists and downloads of two hours of the live music—of the tour. There’s more than 500 photos. It is completely sick and something you definitely have to get. The tour was the first in five years for Bob, Phil, Bill, and Mickey, along with keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and Allman Brothers Band/Gov’t Mule guitarist Warren Haynes. Jay Blakesberg took the photos and Justin Kreutzmann filmed it. You can get it on the iStore for three bucks. It’s definitely worth it. It’s by far my favorite app. The company that made it is called Mosaic Legends and they also have very cool apps for David Bowie and P. Diddy. I don’t have those, but I’ll probably download the Bowie one. If it’s anything like the Dead app, I’ll be stoked and do a post on it. I found an article where Phil Lesh talked about it: "With this new Dead tour App Mosaic Legends is bringing us the future earlier than expected."

HiVery confused. Been in the family for over twenty years. Have gone to four national gathering, been part of the Chicago, Santa Cruz and New Orleans families. Spoken up for legalization all my life and put myself out there numerous times, been to countless dead shows, was on the Grateful Dead last tour, saw the dead in Florida on my 18 birthday and saw Jerry's last show to just start with how much I have been a part of my family and Love my grateful Dead and Rainbow brothers and Sisters. Now I try to log on to this site and can't, then I ask tech support who tell me there is no log in option. When I ask again how to log in they ignore me. Now I do log on in a different name and here I am. I really hope this is some sort of gross misunderstanding but see not how. It seems we have some family Nazis who have decided to excommunicate me from family. Please tell me I am wrong and explain the misunderstanding since I know if anyone is doing this that it does not represent our family at all. Please join us in our mission or love, understanding and tolerance of various spiritual expressions. Many of you know me out there and know I care deeply about people and their rights. that using the word Nazi in conjunction with this site is really "some sort of gross missunderstanding" and wrong. You talk bout peace love and tolerance and then toss around that word so lightly??********************************** By trying we can easily learn to endure adversity -- another man's I mean. it downright stinks, as a matter of fact, but i sense that the poster feels that someone has intentionally excluded them from this site, which i am sure IS a gross misunderstanding...maybe, Leif, you should try to contact one of the mods here for info on why you had trouble logging in, and i'm sure they will help you, given the specifics.

since you seem to be here now just fine, the problem is functionally solved. For what it's worth, we are currently experiencing a spammer invasion that's causing me to have to delete hundreds of bogus accounts a day, and if yours got caught up in this purge I'm sorry. Welcome to the neighborhood, and yeah, what they said about throwing "Nazi" around.

I went to the Va Tech game yesterday with my older son, Paul. I had been looking forward to this as it was the first chance we had had to spend some one on one time together for quite a while. One of the disadvantages of having 2 younger kids at home who have special needs is that I have very little chance to spend quality time with my 2 older kids. The game was a disaster but I didn't really care. While we were tailgating before the game Paul informed me that he and his wife are expecting their first child in May! What wonderful news!

ATTENTION ALL FAMILY: A great kid needs your help! I'm Mindy, my fiance Chris from Conneticut, one of the kindest realiest kids was popped on some old warrants on the way into Moe DOWN, Chris has had some very bad luck in his life. He has spent the past 2 years in the hospital, he has had 2 open heart surgerys, a heart attack and a stroke at 27, all caused by an abbcessed tooth. I thought because of his medical conditions they wouldn't keep him in jail, but they came down from a 9 month sentence or 5k fine to 90 days or 1k fine, but he isn't getting the medical attention he needs, I have to get him out. Fortunately for me some great family, Woodstock Ron from Utica took me in. but we haven't been able to come up with the bail money. I need to get him out as soon as possible and was hoping that if any of you kind dead folks here could help out with donations it would be gratefully appreciated. Any amount will help and would be payed forward. You can send donations to Mindy Riffle at 1610 Sunset ave. Utica Ny. 13502. I hope that we can get Chris out, get him to his many doctors, get him some rest and then see you all on November tour. Forever Grateful, Mindy

Hey NowThis may be considered off topic... but Any Deadhead worth his or her salt KNOWS it isn't... so I pray the folks maintaining this page will give this a moment. I am sure you've all heard a little something about the occupation of wall street. I've been following it with my kids and I have to say LATELY two things occur to me (pun intended) ... A) These folks are REALLY coming out and making a stand ON BEHALF OF ALL OF US... and B) THEY COULD USE OUR HELP. Think about it folks... Grapevine mechanics and remote event planning and logistics are things we do like no one else. There's maybe half a dozen Deadheads around the movement that I can identify. Just think about the impact you can have... you can do what you used to do when we'd fill up a tour by word of mouth all over again. And for the best of causes, making the world and in particular your society a better place (even just a little bit). "This isn't about money. So when ya get a moment... take a stroll to the facebook page facebook.com/Occupywallstreet page and give it a like. And then go get some LIVE... at https://occupywallst.org/ ... The Rest? Well it's what we make of it... and they're waiting for your ideas and support! Please at least have a look and ask yourself if you want to keep passing these opportunities for a better country by. Peace, Your Fellow Head, CharlieSheenBoosters

my travel schedule for work is a busy one and I get to visit some wonderful places. It seems as though everywhere I go I try to find a bar that an old Deadhead would enjoy. And now I find myself headed to NYC this week (knowing that the Wetland Preserve is long gone). So I would love to hear from anyone who could recommend the best bars/clubs for an old Deadhead wandering around NYC..... Peace and Kindness TH

Dead-related, but one of my favorite bars in NYC is McSorely's Old Ale House on 6th street just east of Cooper Square. Been there since 1854, and it's something to experience at least once in your life. Lots of really cool, all original crap hanging on the walls, sawdust on the floor, and they have both kinds of ale, light and dark! Order in increments of two. I have heard allegations that the Dead hung there a couple of times way back in the wayback. Not entirely implausible, as it is just down the street from where the Fillmore East used to be.

Not that's it's particularly interesting, but I feel like I've worked so hard and achieved so little this year. I'm really bummed, it's hard to deal with the so many people against you. The best part though, and I believe the hope is: that I love my family here on Dead.Net. I got to visit some family members from old at Dead.net, and it really did my heart well. Although it was quite a long strange trip, and we didn't even make a show, the best part about it: I finally released some pent up emotions over my last trip. Thank you Dead.Net family, for instance you Pid, ch1na, scottishlass, mcgeeky, moye, the list is endless and of course MANY others I wish I could remember to name.and I can't thank all of you enough for how much support you've given me over the years. During our short little trip from Ohio to Chicago to Michigan back to Ohio and Home, I wrote and created a ton of material. It was alot of emotions and things pent up inside. It was the best release I could think of as I was physically and emotionally tired from the real Grind. I've had to deal with alot of past issues, both emotionally and mentally to even make it back alive this trip. Luckily, I had so many friends and family (((HUGZ)))) help me along the way. Thank you all for showing me that even in my darkests of hours in a long time, you still know how to bring me out into the Light and show me that LOVE is Real! Thanks Critter

The love and good vibes I've felt through any tough time, is always appreciated and welcomed. Thanks Dead.Net fambly, You all ROCK.

I won't say something banal (like "when life gives you lemmons..."). I'm sure you already know life is a rollercoaster, going up or going down. Don't be attached to the present direction. Like the weather, wait a minute and it will change. As the B-52s use to say: Get out of that state you're in! (Private Idaho)

Hey Jerry Garcia fans!If any of you live in the Fairfield County area of Connecticut (or are willing to make a longer trip), a tribute band called 'The Garcia Project' will be coming to the Ridgefield Playhouse on 06/27/15 at 8pm! The show will also feature special guest, 'Acoustically Speaking'. The Playhouse is located at 80 East Ridge Road in Ridgefield, CT, and tickets are $20.
