    rumor has it
rumor mill in full swing, rumor has it Phil to retire after summer tour.anybody else heard this one? Anyway, let's all remember that Phil is 70 and maybe he just doesn't want to do a hugh summer tour all over the US. I caught them in Asheville and they were extremely good, and I would love to have another show this summer, but I sure don't want Phil to "play to death" I remember when JG left us, alot of people were saying "he should have taken a break" well, lets be happy with what we have, and perhaps then Phil can live to a ripe old age. Anyway, I'm sure the midwest and west will get at least a show or two. let's see with our hearts these things our eyes have seen, and know the truth will still lie, somewhere inbetween

    tickets
Hey guys, It might not matter where your from if you can't get a ticket,The E-Scalper bastards buy all the tickets they can get and screw all of us. To bad the Band doesn't just sell 90% of the tickets thru GDTSTOO. And if the Band would play in my back I'd make the PBJ sandwich or grilled cheese. Peace Tina

For SourGrapes: I have a real simple solution for you dude. Don't go to any of Furthur's shows, don't download any recordings of their shows, and never listen to any of those shows.. Personally I saw Furthur in Miami (an epic show) and have listened to many of the shows made by those very kind tapers who go through the trouble of recording, mastering, and uploading their work for the rest of us to enjoy. This band is not the Grateful Dead, it is not The Other Ones, Phil and Friends, Ratdog, The Dead, or Dark Star Orchestra. This band is FURTHUR. Playing the great music we love, LIVE. New lineup, new setlists, new jams, new interpretations, new fans, new venues. The Long Strange Trip Continues..... On the BUS since 12-29-1968, and I'm never getting off. "When I die bury me deep, put two speakers at my feet, pair of ear phones on my head, and always play The Grateful Dead."

Currently listening to 2-23-2010 at Radio City. Joe Beacon's recording is amazing, very clear, great sound, not too much aud chatter, almost as good as a soundboard. if you haven't gotten these yet, I highly recommend them. On the BUS since 12-29-1968, and I'm never getting off. "When I die bury me deep, put two speakers at my feet, pair of ear phones on my head, and always play The Grateful Dead."

a show in Seattle would be appreciated. We got nothing from 1983 - 1994, one Jerry show after 1984, one Phil show within an hour drive of town. One The Dead show in Portland OR does not a tour make (three hour drive overnight stay middle of the week blah blah). I was underwhelmed with last year's The Dead at the Gorge, but it was SOMETHING (three hour drive overnight stay notwithstanding). by this point in my deadness, i have accepted that the GD and the remains of the dead have little to no use for seattle, and that the NY area gets all the action (three-week stands, it seems). whatever. i am VERY MUCH looking forward to RT 11/15/71, and listening to GD for the rest of eternity. At least I can do that without having to travel insane distances, expending two days and shelling out for a motel. Am I a whiner? perhaps. i'd just settle for a handjob now and then while some parts of the country get the Kama Sutra seemingly every three months.

Last year's complaints were the ticket prices! FIXED. Did you not see the $40 prices??? This day and age, that's hard to do for anyband. You know they are gonna do more places on this tour. We just need to be happy they are playing a SUMMER TOUR! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee_____________________________________________ Will you come with me? You all think West coast gets dissed? How about Arizona? I think Ratdog played in state a few years ago, at a casino a hundred miles from Phoenix... And has Phil EVER played here? But I'm not hatin', I realize I'm not in a major market like New England, and I am Grateful they tour at all, and I'll be checking out Archive.org and Sirius satellite for the shows. Furthur is the best group they've put together yet!! I love it!! At least I got to see Mickey and Planet Drum right here in Mesa!! On the bus since 3-5-94 PHOENIX

Why do you never play out west? You are from the West but you rarely play shows here. I am so wanting to see you guys play this summer or even fall. Are we only good enough for a couple of shows at the end of the winter tour? How about showing us even half the love yolu show the east coast.

I have to rectify something here...I don't live out West anymore (home :) but I do believe they've played there alot already and more shows to come. Compiled from setlists/shows file I have: 2009~The Fox Theater * Oakland, CA September 18th, 19th, and 20th > 19 Broadway * Fairfax, CA November 20th > Masonic Hall * Mill Valley, CA December 27th, 28th (rehearsals) > Bill Graham Civic Aud * San Francisco, CA December 30th, 31st 2010~142 Throckmorton Theatre * Mill Valley, CA January 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th (rehearsals) > Masonic Hall * Mill Valley, CA January 11th and 12th (rehearsals) and are going to be playing: 1st Bank Center * Broomfield, CO March 5th and 6th>Portland Memorial Coliseum * Portland, OR March 8th>Bill Graham Civic Aud * San Francisco, CA March 12th So by my count that makes: 40 shows played already + 19 shows more=59 total 21 of them are are or have been played on west coast. And the Summer Tour hasn't even been announced yet! I can't wait for Chicago tommorow...weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! _____________________________________________ Will you come with me? are rehearsals, which are generally not open to the public, that drops the total considerably. percentage wise, the west coast does not get near as many opportunities, no matter how you juggle the numbers, as do our family members on the other coast...so THERE!! nya nya NYA!...heehee!! Let's just hope we ALL get to see more shows..as long as the boys are willing to play for us.

Right on with that Johnman, but right now I am thinking about Portland in one week! See you there. Yes, the boys do play in the West but it is mainly in the bay area and a show in Denver now and then, they don't travel much out here. So folks, I guess it is our trade for having these wide open spaces in that we see less of our band than our crowded East Coast Brethern. Think about it. I bet they will do some more West later on. But long gone are the days when they would play places west of the Big Muddy like Des Moines, Omaha, Boise, Missoula, Spokane, the Twin Cities. (though Ratdog does come through, thanks Bobby!) At least I can hop in my rig, put on a show and be in the mountains in 45 minutes. We do get that high, wouldn't trade it for some East Coast big city living for all the money in the world! As for those who slam this - sour grapes. I prefer a smile myself. Hey this music is classic and we still get to see and hear it with some of the original players. The music will continue like Beethoven in the symphony hall and folkies playing Dylan and Jazz musicians playing Miles in some club. If you just want to live in you memory of what was, fine for you, but some of us like live music. Keeps you young at heart even if the bones are growing old. If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. William Blake

Hey, you guys, don't forget about us down here in the Deep Sh--, I mean deep south. How about throwin' Atlanta a bone at least. Please think about us for the fall leg of the tour. Maybe a Furthur/ABB or Gov't Mule show. We need it down here.

Lets webcast the tour. Wish we could buy an East Coast or West Coast package. How about a single show package. I don't need the added computer graphics or light show. A single shot webcam from the SBD with a feed from there for audio. I'd like to think that I would not be the only one who would purchase.

I scored four for Shelburne, VT on July 5th during yesterday's pre-sale. A lot of folks who live in my valley in VT did the same. The Green at the Shelburne Museum is not a very large space, so you'd be wise to jump sooner, rather than later if you want to hit that show.. These NE tours are becoming comedy...... 25+ shows once again in 200 miles radius WITH NOTHING pretty much nothing beyond.. It's so pathetically $$$ driven touring with no real nod to their fans everywhere... Bizarre... Do you realize Phil & Friends has NEVER played Seattle... EVER.. For the past 4 years NY has received well over 50 shows.... Washington State: 2, Oregon: 1, Arizona: 0, Las Vegas: 0, California: a few more, but most are very small rehearsal style shows or NYE shows.... The tour management needs to be called out for this ridiculous touring style...

I went to the 3/2 show in Chicago and this band is right on. If you have the opportunity to catch these guys, do it. Those of you on the East Coast are lucky to be getting as many shows as you are. This band is hot. The 3/2 show was full of little gem songs while the next night's set list is just sick! Wish I could have been there for night 2. In our dreams, the GD would have played a set like that in the late 1980s.

Hot Damn!! Highland Bowl (Summer Tour)For jporcelli,Ohio. Highland Bowl(and Park) is a Fantastic venue. A historic city park designed by the world famous Edward Law Olmstead (also of Central Park, NYC). The Orchestra Bowl sits in a perfect natural amphitheatre(grass, trees, hills). Small hill on one side, big hill on other side, with a perfect slow rise going back away from stage. Get this- Lawn chairs and blankets are allowed. Big hill has a large statue of Frederick Dougliss overlooking the entire Bowl scene with a cemetary at the top .Simply fabulous! No reserved chairs, just grass!! A wonderful venue for the kids. Bob(Ratdog) and Phil(Friends) were obviously impressed and rightfully jumped on this one to Further start the Summer Tour. For you West Coasters-Highland is 20 minutes from my house. Buffalo-1 hour. Ithica(Cornell)- 2 hours. Utica-2.5 hours. Albany-4 hours. NYC- 6 hours. Sorry but New York /Penns. / lower New England is still where it's " happening" and The Dead know that. It's not about money$$, it's about people and music!! And anyone who doesn't like ( or appreciate) the Band/s since Jerry died, WAKE UP!! Jerry's dead , and LIFE is still worth living and enjoying. 1965ForeverGrateful2010

I want to thank the band for giving a boost to Coney Island, cause that neighborhood needs all the help it can get. For decades now the boardwalk and surrounding neighborhood have been much neglected; the working rides dwindling down to the Wonder Wheel, the Cyclone; and some kiddy rides maintained and operated by a fast food franchise. The buildings housing the freak/sideshows were so spooky we were scared to pay our dollar to go in to see the three- headed baby. There was garbage all over the beach. Derelict lots had been purchased by a greedy real estate developer who planned to have the area turned into an expensive hotel and resort spa complex for the rich, potentially restricting even beach access for the general public. Due to public outcry the city has stepped up and this year purchased 6.5 acres for $95 million dollars from this man. Plans are underway to put in about 19 new rides, giving the working class of New York City a place to recreate again by the sea. Part of this populous effort to revitalize Coney was the building of the minor league ballpark Furthur will be playing in. Deadhead freaks meet Coney Island freaks...sure wish I could see it. All of these venues seem like gems. I don't think it's about money or even people. I think it's about playing special venues. None of these places are especially close together, but the tour does cover some of the most densely populated areas of the US, potentially serving a greater number of Deadheads. Tlhanks again!!

I am assuming that JohnMan is offended by my last post( Highland Bowl). Although his post makes no sense as to why?? The "For you Westcoasters" part of my post is a light-hearted jab at all who have a problem with the Northeast Summer Tour venue schedule. As BrooklynPeach said, it is a "densely populated" area. In other words- lot's and lot's of Deadfans. It is convenient for the Band AND the Northeast fans. At Utica (Further Feb. 20th) we mingled with Heads from Ohio, Vermont, New Jersey, Mass. , and Delaware all at our hotel bar before the show. If JohnMan has a SPECIFIC problem with my post he can feel free to let me know and I will gladly address it. Oh yah, I left out Herkimer (the Castle), that is only (3) hours away as well. 1965ForeverGrateful2010- Rochester, N.Y.

but ya kinda made it sound like we on the west coast are not about the music, like we are not deserving of more than one or two shows......if they did even a short tour here it would sell out...easily....that's all i'm trying to say. nothing wrong with wanting them to do some shows close to home is there? i'm not the only one over here that feels left out. we want to share in the music and good times......peace!!

Winter Furthur blew right by KC, from Chicago (9 hours northeast) to Broomfield (9 hours west). I'm right there w Johnman when it comes to concert locations. Travel $$$ is tight for many of us. Since1965 is on the mark with his comment on logistics in relation to population density. I'm sure we'll see some more dates announced, focusing on the west and hopefully the midwest. Ya think Phil & Friends remember Starlight Theater 3 years ago when it was 100+ degrees out? It doesn't take long for a bottle of Guiness to lose it's cool!

Alot of my friends went to desiderada fest last year and said it was a great time, furthurmore I don't think I heard one thing about people getting harrassed, I believe it is a very lax venue. Still wondering about Sunshine and Zoe though, I love what they bring to the table, if anyone knows if they will be joining I would like to know.
