Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1976, 1985 and 1989, from the east coast, the Midwest, and the west coast.
Our first selection this week is from 6/18/76, the middle night of a three night run in Passaic, NJ, on the Dead’s comeback tour of small theatres, featuring first set music: The Music Never Stopped ; Sugaree, Mama Tried, Crazy Fingers, Big River, Brown Eyed Women.
Next is the end of the show from 6/21/85 at Alpine Valley, where we have Space > Truckin' > Black Peter > Around And Around > Sugar Magnolia, Baby Blue.
Lastly this week is the start of the second set from 6/19/89 at Shoreline, the middle night of a three night run: China Cat Sunflower ; I Know You Rider ; Playing In The Band ; Crazy Fingers ; Playing In The Band Reprise. The next show, on 6/21, was broadcast nationwide on pay-per-view, which I’d always wished the Dead had done more of.
Be sure to join us next week for more music from the vault.
