HEY NOW everyone--im a total computer rookie--but im a rabid GD fan,stay at home daddy(in the winter)(housepainter)to two awesome(AND ACTIVE!!!)3 Y.O. twins-Robbie+Cassidy--anyway--the only reason Im even online is because I got my stepson(Devin) A Wii for his B-Day in Oct.-and we got online through Comcast.(I know--welcome to the 21st Century)Please dont shun me for my Cyber-rookieness!!All I want to do is chat with some fellow Deadheads when I have a little downtime.I need someone to help me to figure this out--Am I even on the right page??ARE YOU KIND?-HELP ON THE WAY? --LOST CYBER SAILOR.

Those are all very kind

Those are all very kind words. I've spent the last week finishing a glass piece that I started over a year ago. It is extremely rewarding hanging infront of one of my windows. Life's a trip man, to say the least. I'm going to meet one of the other x-students tomorrow for a beer after work. She unfortunately spent everything she had and moved here from San Francisco. I'm getting her a job and will definately buy the drinks. Getting blind sided definately sucks but I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason. Life is full of obstacles and I, just like the rest of us, have come across my share. There is no point in sheltering yourself from reality and the world when unwillingly placed in the spotlight. With that in mind I will only perservere and continue to thrive in my own assbackwards fucked little mind that I for one consider creative. I made a beautiful pile of sticks the other day. It was shaped like a big egg and took me almost four hours. I'd love to share photos. I don't mind falling back on my trade. At least its not my degree! I'm more than likely going to get this job which will pay me about forty a year. Not too shabby. Mental clarity of course is more important, but I'll take it where I can get it these days. The one called Tim speaks truth. You should make a movie about the whole deal, cinema verite like, call it "the Shit Creek Project" or something. Shoot it on the cheap and post it in episodes on YouTube. Stillshots get posted here at dead.net. Stay rooted in the facts, but feel free to insert copious amounts of weirdness (example: the director didn't die, he was kidnapped by Men in Black being mind controlled by aliens who don't want your awesome talent released. Its a conspiracy!). Gonzo moviemaking. And you've got a bunch of 'heads that will take care of the viral marketing. You've got a year, so it better be good. Chris- use this

current situation and emotion to pour into your art, into a screenplay or storyboard for the upcoming years experience. Personal difficulty, setbacks and even angst can be fuel for your creative side. Don't let it eat you, instead ustilize this as creative 'fuel'. Journal it out and keep track of what works for you and when you struggle, know that this can be another practice your walk.And enjoy your time with your son (it goes so fast). Endure and persevere. hey chris, sometimes these things happenfor a reason we can't see until later. having done a lot of swimming in shit's creek myself, i can tell you... dig in man, don't get thrown by it, there is something greater going on that maybe none of us can see yet. keep your art going, find a way to do it without the benefit of the school for now, you will get stronger, your art will become unbreakable through this. these are all just creative obstacles that all the people we call artists have to get through, survive, and WHEN you do, you'll see its not a setback, but a test of whether you really WANT it. look around, see how much good you got in your life, cherish it, and let it out into your art. you gotta turn shit creek into sweetwater lake baby! 1971 RESEARCH PROJECT

Good morning rockers!!!! As many of you may or may not know, I am a bit of a “1971 Dead fanatic”. I have taken on a slightly ambitious project, documenting all 1971 Dead shows, the end result of which I hope will combine numerous “facts/factoids” about shows with recollections of folks who actually attended Dead shows in 1971. In order to accomplish this, I need the help of the Dead fan community. ALL contributions will be properly and specifically credited. If you attended ANY shows in 1971 and have ANY recollections to share, PLEASE consider participating. Please PM me for details. While of course I’m happy to hear from anybody who attended “classic 71 shows” such as Port Chester, Fillmore East, Harding Theater, Felt Forum, etc., I’m particularly interested in hearing from folks who may have attended lesser known, “out of the way” shows, such as: 1/21/71 Davis 1/22/71 Lane Community College 3/5/71 Oakland 4/14/71 Bucknell 4/18/71 Cortland 6/21/71 Chateau d’Herouville 8/4/71 Terminal Island 10/19/71 Northrop Auditorium 11/11/71 Atlanta 11/17/71 Albuquerque In addition, if ANYBODY out there has “paper ephemera” related to 1971 shows, Please consider participating. happy 22nd birthday today to my youngest son, who sang along while I drove the car a couple of weeks ago to fire on the mountain from barton hall while home on semester break , who gets his old man excited with his text pics of his being inside barton hall on each visit while participating in track events, and who tried like hell to get tix for barton hall last May to experience the music together with his dad albeit unsuccessfully; dude you have brought so much more happiness to your parents life's than any event that I have ever related to you. I've been stuck in listening to GD concerts from 1981 for a month now, and unsure why, today subconsciously the answer, I celebrated birthday 22 in 1981. it left a smoking crater...it's a great time in your life, always enjoy it, explore by taking risks, be flexible, stay humorous, learn from mistakes, experiment as you know, remain respectful, love unconditionally, have clarity, and always remain true to yourself as you continue building your life. It's a good age for advice, too, because while you still aren't necessarily ready to take it onboard, you're aged far enough to gain that ability to ponder received advice and "hear it" (rather than just remembering it after the fact, and perhaps ruefully nodding in mute agreement)

You say your youngest runs track? I guess it's indoor at this time of the year, hence the Hall. What events does he run if I might inquire? I ran middle distance - so I wasn't quite a "long distance runner" although I did run 6-7 miles a day in training/practice, and I did sometimes ask myself what I was standing there for

Surgery

Had my second Mastectomy today.
First one was in 2004.
No more lumps for me!

...early this AM from my "long distance runner", YES! he's running (which event...details to follow) at Barton Hall next weekend; so my wife and I will be packing lunch with snacks, and selecting tunes [oh that's a tough decision, WRONG!] for our ROAD TRIP!

ROAD Trip...

to BARTON HALL on Saturday! My dude is running the mile (1,600 meters). My wife is besides herself, it's an 8-hr R/T day for an estimated 4 1/2 minute event, but she doesn't yet know the play list lol (5.8.77 / 5.2.70 / 11.6.77 / 9.28.76); those should keep me rollin' down the interstate...and away we GO!

...we drove on Saturday. A great day-trip. Saw our long distance dude compete in the mile, and scored points for the team at Barton Hall. Back home before the sun went down. On the ride up listened to May 8, 1977-11-06 Broome Arena on the ride back, located a mere 5 miles from McIntosh Labs in Binghamton, NY; Sure sounds like there were some new amps on stage that night, especially JG's Travis is screaming. Now I understand how there came to be so many HOT shows in upstate NY, proximity to McIntosh Labs, an easy drive over to the candy store lol; we have some new toys up here, C'mon, let's plug in!

Another Surgery

Went for the follow-up appointment on my mastectomy today. Lots of fluid buildup around the breast, which was too thick to draw out with a needle. Got to go under the knife again next Monday to drain this fluid off.
I must admit I'm not too crazy about having to dance with Propofol this often.
