Anticipa-a-tion
Getting ready in the East.We will take some neophytes to Saratoga for their first exposure as a 50th birthday gift. Should be fun.
Then the lawn in Camden and another family reunion at Wrigley.
You know it's gonna get stranger
@Supper's almost Ready
Tom...glad you're back on the bus. Klangstone stole the keys and left a holy mess though. I'll take the wheel for a few weeks, we also have Miami on board. Gonna drop Mr. Fonts in Atlanta tomorrow. We will be in Burgettstown before you know it, SPAC and shithole arena in Camden on the radar. Citi still a hope and a dream. No Chicago here, re. Wrigley....after FTW I swore off of massive cattle call shows. Smaller venues and Vegas and Cap Theater Phil for me from now on. Take care, love to you and yours...
Dammit Klangstone take your donut boxes with you next time....
Beg to differ
no one stole any dus...Our west coast mayor was duly authorized to drive on the west coast shows, and he left the dack of ba dus pretty clean. The snacks were labelled clearly, unfortunately, bogs can't reab and next thing you know was Sarge got ahold of that ziplock of drownies, he tore into the dox of bonuts and left a royal mess.
Ralph said he would take care of the mess, but then the psychedelic squirrels showed up wanting directions back to FTW, and one thing led to another.
Just wanted to set the recorb straight, so no-one started a recall movement or anything.
Peace, and be kind Ralph.
@what in the heck was that?
Holy crap, like an episode of Spellcheck gone wild.....not that I've ever watched...
we are on ba dus, had to hotwire it after Mr. Mayor left with the keys and my dog...
Hey Now!!
Hey now and greets, y'all from the ATL.
After a 3 outta 4 screamin' sets in Mountain View (Sun nite set one was awful), the boys are now east and we'll be at Lakewood Amphitheater tomorrow night. Weather looks to be cooperating so fingers-crossed they come in ready to serve-up some good ole southern hospitality.
BTW, Sat nite at Boulder was amazing. FOD on acoustics - LOVED IT!!!
Rock on Ringmaster
It's Tuesday – must be Atlanta. Have a smooth, inter-dimensional ride tonight Tony and Lana and any other SSDDers lucky enough to be there! Hard to believe the 40th anniversary of your first show at Raceway Park is less than 3 months away! Celebrate! –(Oat) Jeff
Burgettstown and Beyond...
Have fun, one and all. And stay safe.
One last call for Fenway...other than yours truly and Stephen Reynolds, anyone else going?
@One Hot Summer Tour
The boys are really gettin' in the groove...can't wait to see what else is in store on tour....
Good times and good vibes to all those on ba dus headed to B-Town, PA, and all over the East Coast.
Hangin' out in the back of ba dus til' Wrigley ; )
Fenway
Ok Dave the friend I that came to chicago with has an extra ticket for friday and I think a pit ticket for sat both are at cost . If you know anyone that would like to either up grade or get a ticket contact me. Tall ships are here so be safe and keep the groove on Steve
Burgettstown, Fenway and beyond
Great show, got an Easy Wind, Throwing Stones and a belated Flag Day Liberty. Highlight was Lil John doing his best David Lindley falsetto Stay imitation on The Wheel. Only gripe Pennsylvanias 5 0. For Chrissakes, you think El Chappo was in attendance. What a bunch of tools.
ASL and Roadking, Enjoy Fenway kids!
as an aside, a few weeks ago on another subform my concern that setlists have stagnated since 10/2015....
To quote Rosanne Rosanadana...."nevermind"
Figment of Stagnation
Hey rgerrgelis et alii, Glad to hear the feared cloud of stagnation is lifting so more and more spontaneity can seep into Dead & CO '17. You could tell from the nugs tease last night that Burgettstown was going new places (I'd love to hear the whole show). And those Boulder shows were definitely high in the Rockies. Looks like a few clouds may keep temps down in Boston so y'all can better meld with the music. Onward Daydreamers!
@Infinity and Beyond....got Oats Jeff?
Check inbox in a day or so, and make sure you got free bandwidth.....
Grand Slam Weather
Looks like just exactly perfect weather at Fenway tonight & tomorrow. Don't be late – don't want to miss getting blasted out of the ballpark! And, just curious, who's in the SSDDer contingent there? Onward y'all!
BTW: Bit the bullet and got a brand new Oat Cart last week with mucho mas "After Midnight Oat-age". Just love that "new cart smell!"
SPAC-tacular
A good time was had by all, in spite of the lawn area being oversold by three-fold, in my opinion.
And the brief summer shower, even as the horizon cleared for the sunset, came just as Bobby reached the crescendo on Looks Like Rain; perfectly timed.
As a 50th birthday present we brought some friends to their first exposure of any kind to this world. They had a blast.
And made so memorable for the incident of the friendly fellow who approached us early in the first set and asked if he could leave his Birkenstocks under our beach chairs. We then proceeded to share some of what he grows himself, and did not see him again until the end of intermission. He was OVERJOYED to find us and his sandals. Our friends now have an indelible impression of the nature of interactions between Heads.
By now you will have heard of the continuing modifications to the treatments of the old song pairs: China and Rider as bookends to the set rather than a doublet: anything is possible.
And what Mr. Mayer did with Deal was epic. EP-IC.
Kind Story from the SPAC
Thanks for sharing Graceful Tom. Those kind of tales just don't come across in the streams & downloads. What a just exactly perfect 50th BD celebration for your lucky friends – sounds like they're now on the bus. And speaking of "bus", where's Geomeister? Anybody spot him at any of the shows?
To everybody in Bristow, enjoy the ride tonight. Looks like it'll be cooling off by showtime and the rain will hold off til after midnight (but who'd notice anyway!) Onward!
Yo Yo Jeff
saw that guy just this morning...
all's well in DFW, enjoying the shows from the couch and lazy person's chair. Hallway is very convenient for that dance or two too.
Peace and best wishes to old and new heads, on the bus, magic carpet or segwaaaay.
17 down and 3 to go...
two very solid shows at Citi and Camden, on to Ohio and Chitown x2...
this band has flashes of brilliance...
Last Summer Sunday
Yeah, I saw flashes.Or heard. Or something.
Before the Camden show the band wrote on Twitter “You know what they say about Sunday shows.” Everyone was waiting for Samson, as on the previous 3 Sundays: didn't happen.
But Brokedown Palace has now been played 3 times, each as a Sunday encore. Hmmm.. To me there is no mistaking "They Love Each Other" as a Sunday-theme song. And maybe it's a stretch, but Big Boss Man is fitting.
But what about those stained-glass themed graphics? I would not know if they have been used all summer, but it did not seem like a a coincidence.
@Gracefully said....
What a spot on post....the past two nights were magical, something about this band has changed, it has truly evolved...they are no longer the cover band I thought they would become, they have carried these songs we all know to a new level. I thought for sure set 2 first beats was going to be Samson....but Iko with Cowboy Bob on tambourine? C'mon....
TLEO touched my heart....as did the Brokedown encore....
...never miss a Sunday show, indeed.....
thank you all
I can't attend any this year. I have caught a couple via the magic of streaming, but thanks to all of you, I can also feel them. I am grateful for that.Party on Wayne.
PS Blossom, the venue in Ohio is a wonderful place to see a show. Really wish I could get there in person!
@Chicago Bound
Hey now daydreamers, dis dus is heading for the final stops of the summer tour, Wrigley! We're gassed up and ready to go. Someone from the back of ba dus gimme a beat....

Calling all Couch touring Deadheads
lets meet at chat here on Saturday
The Wheel is Turning. . .
. . . back to Chicago! Onward Daydreamers. My mom had the nerve to be born 90 years ago this weekend, so altho I'll be in Dallas feting our grande dame, I'll be sneaking peeks at all the hi-brow banter from this board during the shows. I'll just have to listen after the Wheel's covered just a little more ground. Have a blast and remember "The Pic-A-Nic", whatever that means . . . Onward.
@ the rabble....
Gonna be a hot time in the old town Saturday night.....that's right Saturday Night!,,,,
One More etc. etc.
Sorry I will not be joining your chat tomorrow..

I'll be in the pit !!!
That's the pits, Graceful
But certainly option 1 in anyone's book.
Enjoy the show, and i'll swap the baby for a nice tshirt and/or poster.
Anybody streamin'?
Who's couch streaming? Not able to watch right now, but the setlist is seems to be unfolding just fine. How was the Bertha? The Let it Grow, etc., etc?
@Live Bertha
Didn't stream it but it sounded fantastic LIVE!!!Bring on my Birthday show! One down, one to go....
@I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony...
Jeff I streamed entire show from the recliner. It was a marathon where second set more than compensated for the first. A 17 minute Sugaree that made me feel like I was wading thru a sea of Vaseline, but that could have been the marijuana minutes kicking in. Bobby walked off stage mid UJB reprise to end first set, and sort of apologized for it. Bertha was as tasty as new coke can be. I have to stop comparing this iteration to any prior though, as you well know "nothing compares to the real thing". I really, really miss Jerry. He's the real thing, baby.
Hey Miami, Happy Birthday have a great show, you know its gonna get stranger.
streamin
I really enjoyed the entire show. Bertha still makes me dance every time i hear it.My wife reminded me how much I disliked shakedown street when the vinyl LP came out in 78 or 79. It is one of many songs that I didn't really "get" until I heard it live. Love it now.
Oteill on China Doll was excellent. Let Oteill sing, indeed. Can't really think of a low point...music never stopped was just OK in my opinion, if i had to single out something. I really liked STOM. I watched STOM from 7-4-15 right after...gotta say, preferred last night's version.
I liked what they did with Me and my uncle. everything.
Let Holly Sing
It's her birthday for Christ's sake.
HaPpY bIrThDaY HoLlY!
Couch Tour Observation
I think JM is coloring his hair...Sun-In maybe?
Okay, I love seeing Bill Walton in the pit!
Finishin' out the summer tour in style
Not where I can stream, but tonight's setlist looks likes it's already achieved lift-off. Onward y'all! Oat Jeff
Incredible
...wish we had another 20 to look forward to this summer.
Feeling grateful.
Thank you...for a real good time.
So grateful we all got a 3rd straight summer of live Dead in one way, shape or form.
Thank you D & C - do it again next summer!!
And don't shy away from using those acoustic guitars - Mayer on his Martin is heaven!!
Big Buff hugs for the tour support as well :-)
Peace SD'ers!!
@One Fine Time
Thanks to all for the birthday wishes and thanks to the boys for the best birthday EVER! Let's do it again next year shall we?
