Mickey, Bill, And Bob Form “Dead & Company” With John Mayer, Announce Halloween Madison Square Garden Concert

The news is out, all over town... Mickey, Bill, and Bob have joined forces with Grammy Winning singer/guitarist John Mayer to form the band Dead & Company. The band will take the stage at the legendary Madison Square Garden on Halloween night, October 31, 2015 and will perform two sets of music drawing largely from the Dead’s historic catalog of songs.

The Fare Thee Well shows were a record-setting success, and ignited enthusiasm for more concerts featuring Grateful Dead members. "There is a place where music, dreams and magic come together,” said Hart. “Grateful Dead music is a portal to that place. It was built to last!”

"Fare Thee Well proved to me that I'm not done exploring new rhythmic territory with Mickey — I’m recommending that everyone puts their helmet on, because we are going to blast our way into some serious drums and space," said Kreutzmann. “And with Mayer riding shotgun with Weir — we’re in good company, so to speak.”

Mayer will join Hart, Kreutzmann and Weir, along with Allman Brothers’ bassist Oteil Burbridge and Fare Thee Well and RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti. “I deeply love the Dead’s music, and it has inspired me in ways I never imagined. To help carry this music is the opportunity and the honor of a lifetime,” Mayer said.

"We're not done with these songs and they're not done with us,” said Weir. “We're gonna take these old friends on some new adventures.”

Tickets will go on-sale to the general public Friday, August 14th at 10am ET. American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Monday, August 10th at 10am local through Thursday, August 13th at 10pm local. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com. Top tier tickets will be priced under $100, and a number of $50 tickets will be made available in honor of the Grateful Dead’s 50th Anniversary.

Let me first give praise to John He did a stellar performance. For those who were there you know how wonderful they played taking every song and jamming I met up with long lost heads and scored a copy of the show. Don't wait if you can see this tour it in my opinion was better sonically than the Fare thee well shows. Every song played last night gave me flashbacks to the good ole Grateful Dead. Dead & Co. Times Union Center, Albany, NY Thursday, October 29, 2015 Set I Playing in the Band > Cold Rain and Snow (JM) Tennessee Jed Feel Like a Stranger He’s Gone (JM) Bird Song (JM) The Music Never Stopped Set II Lost Sailor > Saint of Circumstance Help on the Way > Slipknot! > Franklin’s Tower drums > space > The Other One Stella Blue > Not Fade Away Encore: Touch Of Grey Birdsong was my personal favorite I was in the GA PIT 30ft center PEACE MY FELLOW DEADHEADS

Saw the first show in Albany. Listened to the MSG show on Sirius. One man's opinion - this is the best that the music has sounded in 20 years. I saw my first show in 1973, and all of the various incarnations since. I have enjoyed most of it (all of the Dead, most of the others), but this band really has it. I'm looking forward to seeing how they gel down the road. For the first time in 20 years, I really want to know what the next song will be.....

My first show since Jerry...didn't make the Fare thee Well shows. I was really skeptical about John Mayer but I figured Bobby must be seeing or sensing something in him...Took my daughter (who was still inside me when I was dancing to Franklins Tower in 1995) My biggest fear was I was going to cry my eyes out all through the show but once the anticipation built and the lights went down and the crowd roared all I could feel was Gratefully Dead Headed and we danced and laughed through two very old time sets. The set list was a blow back to the 1970's and I loved every minute of it. John took a few songs to open up but I think he was just as nervous as some of us were. Stepping on to that stage with a guitar in your hand, in the spot where the big man stood would be a sobering task for anyone. He handled it with talent and grace and I do believe respect. His Althea was SO SWEET that just for a few moments I was transported back in time and actually forgot Jerry was gone. I did mist up a little with China Doll, one of my Jerry Favorites. I truly miss that old hippie more than I could have ever imagined I would miss anyone. But if Bobby and crew will deem to carry on, I'm going to go right along with them - because that Dark Star into Drums into Dark Star was the best Drums I've ever experienced. I just held my hands up to the air and felt the pulsations of those three drumming and man - did I need that! Awesome show and I do think Jerry would approve.

11/17 in Atlanta was simply fantastic. John Mayer played exceptionally well. Oteil absolutely killed it. The jams were deep and jazzy and real. Nothing was phoned in. Cassidy was the highlight jam of the first set for me. Don't Ease Me In was a sweet treat. Probably the best St.Stephen I've heard since Jerry moved on. A joyous Help Slip Franklin's and a ferocious Dew were notable as well. The Brokedown Palace encore was beautiful and prayerful and heartbreaking and a perfect way to end the evening. We all had a real good time. Finally, I must say the thin man rocked!

I was very sceptical before the Albany gig about JM playing Jerry's parts. But oh man, he fit in so well musically it was scary. And he just got better by the time the free MSG show rolled around. I still can't watch him on stage though. Physically he is as far from fitting in as can be. But if you close your eyes and listen he is absolutely nailing the essence of Jerry's playing. So fresh and good. Very uplifting. I knew Oteil would be awesome no matter what. He is an insanely great musician. And all that time with the Allmans made him a fantastic improvisational player. If I had known before Albany it was going to be this good I would have taken a month off from life and gone on tour. To me this is by far the best incarnation of the Dead since Jerry's passing. Even the Fare The Well shows didn't gel as well as this line up IMHO.

Followed tour since Albany as well....agree Mayer is a natural fit, how he looks while playing, who cares....Jerry, and you all know I miss Jerry wasn't always a perfect specimen in front of the camera, or in person. More solid than FTW, absolutely....but that was the memorial service after 8/09/1995..... Glad the song selections have expanded....looking forward to tonight, Colorado, Vegas and Cali.... You know our love will not fade away... mmmmmmm bop bop, bop bop......

Hey now, must say I was blown away by the show last night in STL. The set list was killer and the boys played their hearts out. Out of the two shows I attended one in Nashville and STL, I am glad the better one was here at home. The crowd had a fantastic time and there was dancing in the aisles and singing out loud...perfect rock and roll fantasy. Keep it up boys! Mayer has passed in my book! With psychedelic flying colors!

Hi Friends, I've been on the couch tour since Albany and enjoyed the progression of the band over the last month. I finally saw live shows in Greensboro and Atlanta. Both shows were excellent. Great atmosphere and energy inside the arenas. Fine set list selections. Great playing by all in the band. Highlights for me in Greensboro were Set 1: Crazy Fingers, Me and My Uncle, Ship of Fools. Set 2: Scarlet Begonias>Fire On The Mountain>Drums>Space>The Other One>Wharf Rat. Highlights in Atlanta included; Set 1:Loser & Cassidy. Set 2:St Stephen, Help on the Way>Slipknot>Franklin's Tower, Drums>Space, & Morning Dew. The Cassidy in Atlanta was one of the best ever for me. I look forward to checking out all the shows for the remainder of the tour, and hope to see more next year!!! Carry on the good work boys!! There is life after FTW! Peace to ALL

To add to Dead & Company was a great show but the MSG Halloween show was special too me and an outstanding set. I was at FARETHEWELL and WE all know what that is!! John Mayer which I only new as a 'pop' dude impressed me and is one fine musician and guitarist. He fits well with The Tribe and his riffs danced in my head all nite long. The Grateful Dead is the best band on planet Earth and Dead & Company just keeps the river flowing! I am fortunate to have grown-up with the 'boyz' and 49 years for me of dancin' with them makes me one damm lucky Dude. With them from Barton Hall as a teen,Woodstock,Watkins Glen to the end in Chicago. Thank U for being in my life....the music never stops, it just pauses..............OLDSKOOL!!

I never thought I would be going to see 'the Dead' in Vegas ever again but as fortune would have it I'm planning to go to the Saturday show. Anyone from Lake Tahoe going? I'd love to meet up some kind Heads from my neck o' the woods. I have a spare ticket and would like to trade it for something interesting and or novel/hard to find. I also have a commemorative bottle of Grateful Dead 50th anniversary Cabernet Sauvignon that I would like to share with said Heads. So far I have heard the Albany show and part of 11/1, MSG. I gotta say they sound amazing for how new that particular lineup is. From the time I had heard John Mayer would be playing with them I curious and excited about the prospect of seeing the core three together again. I can only name one JM song, yeah That One, and only knew that he was an acclaimed guitar player so I chose to keep an open mind about how he might fit into the Lineage. Anyway, enjoy the remaining shows everybody and hopefully I'll see some of you in Vegas!

Thanks Bruce and Jennifer for the kind trade Saturday night in Vegas. I traded my spare ticket for your sweet photo of Jerry. When I got into the venue I took a look at the t-shirt booth and noticed they were giving people cardboard tubes to put their posters in. I thought it would be a good idea to get one for the Jerry photo. So I asked the lady if I could buy just a tube, which she sold to me for 5 bucks. Then I started having second thoughts because people wouldn't get to enjoy the photo during the show if it was in a tube. After vacillating for a minute I laid the picture on the carpet and started rolling it up to put it in the tube. Just then some guy about twenty feet away was walking into the venue and yelled 'Jerry doesn't want to be rolled up man, don't fold him up!' So, I sheepishly put the photo back in its plastic sleeve and went back to the t-shirt booth. I said 'you're not going to believe this but some guy just reprimanded me for trying to roll Jerry up'. Before I could ask for a refund she went and brought back my 5 bucks. So, thanks t-shirt lady, for the refund, and also thank you to the Head who made me do the right thing with Jerry's photo. It brought smiles to quite a few faces. The show was amazing too. I'm really grateful to have been able to be there.
