Got a question about this show from a listener and got inspired to post it here. The Smithsonian/Folkways archive is a world of wonders! The interview was done at the Oakland Coliseum during the 1989 New Year's run by my KPFA colleague Bari Scott. The Dead's NYE show is excerpted, including a guest appearance by Bonnie Raitt on slide guitar.
Enjoy!

Great show
12/31/89 Grateful Dead &Bonnie Raitt
I remember this show fondly. I loved Bonnie playing slide guitar 🎸 while Jerry sang Big Boss Man. She is a legend and I am honored to have heard this. I feel blessed to been able to grow up at Grateful Dead shows and all the other great artists they had play with them.
