Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music from 1978, 1981 and 1984.

Our first selection is the start of the show from the xcellent night in Nashville on 4/22/78, featuring Bertha > Good Lovin' ; Candyman; Looks Like Rain ; Tennessee Jed. The next show, 4/24/78, was released as part of the Dave's Picks series, and it was very nearly this show that was selected.

Next up is the start of the second set from 4/30/81 in Greensboro, NC, where we have Shakedown Street > Samson And Delilah ; It Must Have Been The Roses ; Estimated Prophet > Eyes Of The World. I'm always a fan of the that opening combination, when the start rocking Samson right out of Shakedown.

Our final selection this week is from 4/27/84 in Providence, RI, where we have the start of the second set, featuring Playing In The Band > China Doll> Space > High Time > Man Smart (Woman Smarter). A couple of cool rarities here, with the first being the second set opening Playing In The Band, and the second being the back-to-back China Doll>High Time.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

Always in danger of flying off of the tracks! 4/21, 4/22, 4/24 what a great run of shows. Can't wait for 5-14 on the upcoming 30 trips. www.talkfromtherockroom.com

Listen to the 21:10 mark when Jerry sings the "I was havin' a haaaard time" line and Bobby responds in the background with "hittin' the high notes"... Somehow ended up in the front row for this show a the civic center.

What a sonic beauty! Awesome mix. Everyone is on fire and in great spirits. Jerry's vocals are sweet, rhythm players are in total sync, Donna sounds good. Bring it out Dave!

I like hearing many of their songs at varying tempos, keeps it fresh, but these Eyes readings feel so half-hearted when they zip through it like a cranky kid at a recital.

to Robert Hunter for the heart and soul he gave to The Dead with his lyrics; what a blend: Hunter/Garcia! Hunter's solo albums knocked me on me tail.
