Our friends the Rhinos have various and sundry new releases in the development process, but they're always interested in hearing what you'd like to see hit the virtual shelves of the Store. No promises, but you never know...

Anything from 1984 would be great to see as a release. I have recently made a chart of live releases and have noticed that 1984 has been totally ignored. Initial studies have concluded that repeated exposure to Grateful Dead music may be habit forming, and can result in a permanent change to the psyche of the listener. While no one has successfully reversed this condition, it can sometimes be controlled to

All that circulates is //Cumberland Dark Star > Stephen > Mason's// The sound (at least from the vernon source) is great, A if not A+. The Dark Star may be THE Dark Star. The Stephen and the bit of Mason's we have are great, too. If this board is in the vault, the sound quality is good and the rest of the show even approaches the level of what circulates, an official release is not only warranted, but necessary.

I am looking into vining this entire tour. However the most efficient way to vine something this large is to use FLAC files on a DVD(s). "Escaping through the lily fields, I came across an empty space. It rainbow then exploded, left a bus stop in its place. The bus come by and I got on, thats when it all began. It was Cowboy Neal at the wheel of the bus to never ever land"

What about the Melkweg show from 1981-10-16? Were those recorded? I know they were quite spontaneous.

It's the only year (apart from some of the '80s and '90s) that isn't represented in any live release (apart from the odd song here and there). I know the sound quality might not be great, but surely a 2 disc compilation of key tracks from throughout the year would be feasible. It's a pretty crucial year to have so underrepresented. How did they develop from the garage-blues band of Birth of the Dead to the psychedelic sojourners of Two from the Vault? Also, there doesn't seem to have been much (or anything?) from '70 released since DP8. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just going off the top of my head.

I’m thinking based on the clue offered for Dave’s 50, specifically the reference to “show (shows…?)” and the timing being right,… leads me to believe the show is the Watkins Glen summer jam and the bonus disc is the sound check. I did some quick math at archive.org and it looks like the show would fit on three discs with about 15 min to spare, and that the sound check would almost fit on one, with the need for last song on the other discs.

As is well known, there are Owsley tapes for both days and even though widely available (in so so quality) already, this show deserves the official release, plangent process and all. Here’s hoping I’m right on this guess.
