on the local TV news last night, it was a story in itself, how the local Iranian-Americans politely but firmly refused to talk to local media at all because anything they said would be back in Tehran getting family in trouble in a heartbeat. The Internet as two-edged sword.

With usual the result, massive crackdown by well-armed troops. One starts to see the pattern emerging here. Where the army is faithful to the regime and wiling to fire on it's own people there is little chance of change. In the case of Egypt, America had so many of the Egyptian army going through the military academies and defense contractors (so they could learn to fire the ordnance we sold them) they built up a bit of a professional soldier's code. Not so in most of the rest of the Middle East. Perhaps it will take 100 years to bring a total change, Hope not.

King Abdullah's going peaceful transition woohoo, conveniently failing to mention how it came about. Considering the circumstances...

Make yourself at home. (There are numerous versions of this thread, and they've all been pretty dormant for a while, so let's just revive this one and see how it goes.) If this takes on a life of its own I'll make it a new thread. Thanks!

Our two posts have not come up on "Recent Posts" which is what I was trying to do posting here at all to make it easier to find. Not that I don't have opinions, lol.
Cheers

Edit: Now it's working. Thank you

Lots of unfamiliar names from the past. I wonder what happened to them all?

have passed away in the intervening years. Some of them can be found on FB. Others, I don't know!

That's a sobering thought Marye - but a truthful one. I wonder what the board will look like in `15 years time ?

I can't seem to find the current "Trouble ahead.." page. Simon and Oro put some thoughts down on it. I can only access access it after someone else has made a comment, and it is noted on the homepage. It's the same as with Daves Picks 52. Neither of which is a big problem, I have to say

Both those are showing up fine for me in Recent Posts; where would you like them to be showing up?

Thanks for looking into this for me. They show up in Recent Posts for me too, but I can't find a heading labelled "Current Events". I look at the page under the top heading of "Community". Under "Store Products" is where I go to find the Daves Picks pages - although the one for 52 isn't there at the moment.

So I can access both the Daves Picks 52 page and the Trouble Ahead page, if there are Recent posts. But if there aren't any recent posts, then I can't seem to access them. This doesn't matter with the Daves Picks page, as there is usually a Recent Post on that one. But the "Trouble Ahead..." one isn't as popular, so I have to wait a while for a Recent Post before I can put a comment on.

My general low level of online skills doesn't help !

Had a sighting of the GD 60 Year Anniversary logo I must say it is sweeeeeet. Now it just so happens that come this September I'll turn 60 myself. So all I want for my 60th is an official release of 12/1/79.

If I click on my id icon on the rhs of the top line and select recent posts from the drop down menu then I get a long list of topics which includes this one and the newer version and the DaP 52 one. I’m using an iPad.

1st show - thanks also, but I couldn't seem to get what I was looking for doing that. I do find life difficult sometimes!

Yeah, we kinda are working within a structure that was set up many years ago so thanks for persevering. Dave, yup, the original thread in the Store is missing because, uh, I blew it up by mistake, but the second edition is rocking right along and when Dave's 53 comes along this will all right itself, I think.
