Got ideas for how things should be run differently in the Vineyard? Improvements? Suggestions? Brainstorms? Truckloads of fertilizer? Post here.,On the floor at MSG... one perfect song after another...and we were beyond elated with disbelief and gratitude. This was truely a fantasy set list and, in my opinion, the best of my 8 show run.
seems like things are
seems like things are pickin' back up with the new folks who have joined us. I remember a year or 2 ago if you waited a few hours to sign up for a new posted vine, you were like 15th on the waiting list. If you waited a day, you were like 20th. :-)
my advice to the new
my advice to the new folks--get all you can while the gettins[sic] good. I am on 2 yahoo GD list serves, and nobody wants to trade or do anything on these lists. This really is the best place to be to get shows by the truck load.

vining/trading
This is still the best place that I know of. The stalled vines do bother me, especially the ones that haven't reached many people.
Hippy said a few months ago that he was taking some time off from the Dead to concentrate on other music that he had been ignoring. We'll leave the side door open for him. :)
I hope we can keep this site strong
Even though I have pretty much tapped into every vine available here I still like to show up and trade the shows I have and chat with you all. It's my escape from the "real" world. And every now and then a vine shows up that fills in some of my gaps so that's a bonus. Anyways I feel an allegience to the vineyard since it has provided me with over half the live shows I own and I am grateful to have met you all even if it is only over the internet.

I have his mailing address and e-mail address. At the time is left, he stopped responding to his e-mail. I had sent him a note, In fact, I'll e-mail him now and see what happens.

Question regarding international viners...
Revived a couple dead vines (pun intended) received from rangerjoe (long story)....after pming the list I came across a guy in Belarus....not sure if sending to Belarus is the best way to keep a vine alive...I don't think want to do international anyway. Still hate to overlook anyone. What do you all think is the best way to handle these requests?
Leave it if you dare...

i should take a moment and say "hey". i know that i'm really new here, and have been going back through "the jungle" discovering some old vines. i am an active trader of mostly .wav media, and before landing here have some 400+ shows, along with 100+ dead shows. my collection ranges from r&b, jazz, bluegrass, pop, rock, metal and country western. in my library you will find the dead, john hartford, waylon jennings, zepplin, floyd, the stones, rush, madonna, muddy waters, leftover salmon, ect et. all. what i am really interested in collecting right now is shows from ebbets field. in general i love and appreciate live music, and am saddened by the amount of quality music that has died here. but in general this is just to let you all know that these vines and others i have to offer will not die here... any questions feel free to pm me- matt

I have done this for one international (European person). I just made them a copy and sent it on to them and then kept the vine going in North America. I was pretty happy because the person in Finland sent me a disc of music from his country that was very nice, I wasn't expecting that.

Ebbets Field?
Dude, I hope you are referring to a venue other than the famous Ebbets Field in Brooklyn! I doubt there were many concerts there and very few recordings!!
All kidding aside, isn't there an Ebbets Field in Colorado? Why the special interest?
"That path is for, your steps alone."
Ebbets Field
In the mid 70's there was an Ebbet's Field in downtown Denver that hosted some musical performances (some pretty good bands and that) but I am almost positive the GD never played there. It would have been cool if they did - the place was small like 200-300 people small.
Ebbets Field in Brooklyn was home of the Dodgers wasn't it? Like really old!! I don't think the GD were even around yet when that place was hopping??

Ebbets Field
The Ebbets Field in Brooklyn was torn down in 1960 after the Dodgers skipped town to LA in 1958. An interesting fact (well to me anyway) is that the Dodgers have been playing at Dodger Stadium for a longer time than they had played at Ebbets Field.
I am sure Maustin was talking about the one in Colorado, but I don't think he was referring to any GD shows.
I am just curious why he is focusing on that venue.

1973 Ebbetts

Within the vineyard, check out the Little Feat collection: 7/19/73 is legendary. Lowell George could really sing the blues and play a mean guitar. Cat Fever, Fat Man, Walkin all night....
ebbets field-
lived in denver for many, many a years- other than good jazz & blues on the corner of 20th & larimer. where was it? el chutipec.......
Google Says......
Ebbets Field named after the famed Brooklyn Dodgers ballpark was a small club in the early to late 70's located on 1020 15th street in Denver Colorado

Ah yeah - El Chapultepec
Right near Coors Field. Sweet jazz dive bar, super small. It's still there but Ebbets Field was over on 15th and like Curtis (somewhere in there).

Viners, interest in new Live Neil? And some old stuff for fun?
Have an excellent sonic offering of his Neils current solo tour. This one from a show at Shea's in Buffalo NY 5-19-10. (2 CDs)New songs as well.
And my Neil benefactor found a 1976 Boulder CO 11-6-76 that we road tripped to. 1/2 acoustic and then with Crazy Horse. (2 CDs) Not quite as clean but definately some fun and a time trip to boot.
Both are audience records.
Anyway, will vine if any interest.
The Truth is realized in an instant, the act is practiced step by step.
I'd be up for some Neil

Potential 1978 Vines??
Over the last couple of months I have collected all of 1978. A mix of sbd/mtx/aud recordings. I checked the vine dex and really there have not been that many shows from 78 vined here.
I'd just seed every single show because that's how I am =) but I thought maybe I'd do something different and first ask if there are any particular shows from that year you all would like to have and I could start a vine or 2 that way. Otherwise I'll just start some vines focusing on sbd/mtx recordings that I think are good =)
I thought it may be fun to do something like this. You can post your choices or ask questions here or PM me.

JSTRAW
Has Pittsburgh 78 been seeded yet? I think it was 4/18 or something like that.
Also, although I was disappointed at the time, has the Meadowlands 78 show been vined? I think it was in the first week of September, right before they went to Egypt. I would be curious to hear it again all these years later and compare it to how I felt at the show.
Thanks.
Ruben & Cherise
I would like to get some of these shows containing the only GD live versions of Ruben & Cherise.

8/30/83 Eugene Show
Hey I was wondering if anyone has this show and if so have you listened to the opening remarks?? It is kind of bizarre, it sounds to me like he is making fun of deadheads but it is sort of subtle, maybe it is just a quirky Oregon thing? I have heard other shows played in Oregon where they make some weird comments to the crowd before the show starts. I always thought Oregon was laid back and hippie friendly especially Eugene...
"The dire wolf collects his due while the boys sing round the fire"
Jackstraw
Eugene is not hippie friendly, as a matter of fact the whole NW is very antihippie and antibacktolander and antiGratefulDead. It is all postgrunge, coffee and microbrews, big trees mountains and lots of rain. Everyone stay home, do not move here, you will have big slugs in your shoes and your old ticket stubs will gather mildew unless you live on the Eastside and then it is dry and dusty, too dry and dusty for any normal humans and your old ticket stubs will just crumble in the dry air and turn to dust.. Everyone stay home, do not move. And by the way they don't trust Pranksters out here either.

Seriously Hal?
I mean besides not wanting people to move to the NW (believe me I totally get that) =)
Then I was on furthur.net and this is one of the first sentences describing the September tour -
"The first stop features two nights at the magical Cuthbert Amphitheatre in what is likely one of the most Dead Head-friendly cities in America, Eugene, OR."
Eventhough I already thought OR was laid back when I read that I was thinking "really, in all of America"?? Considering pretty much any city in CO is dead head friendly (well except for extreme east and south) I found that to be a pretty bold statement especially since neither Eugene show is sold out.
I don't mean to diss Oregon I was just trying to put some pieces together.
"The dire wolf collects his due while the boys sing round the fire"
I beg to differ
If you want a mellow, hip scene and meet some nice folks in Oregon please just go to the Oregon County Fair.
The last time I checked Hipsters liked micro-breweries, coffee houses, and even hanging out with some post grungers.
Western OR. can be wet, but it is some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen on this Earth (my experience spans 4 continents). The coastline is breath taking. The east is hot and dry, but a lot of "humans" love it there too.
The State is a culinary mecca with the best seafood, amazing organic farms, and incredible wine makers. It is a spectacular natural play ground with great skiing, mountain biking, hiking.
Portland and Eugene have great music scenes and very nice, welcoming people. The Grateful Dead played amazing shows there from their inception all over the state. Some of my favorite recordings are from the many shows they played at the Paramount.
As did Hal, I am just stating my opinion. William Blake also says "A fool sees not the same tree that a wise man sees."
"And I love the life I live
And I'm gonna live the life I love"
Another Reuben
Reuben and Cherise showed up in the first set at Buckeye Lake on 6/9/91, too.
You can easily download audience flac files from archive.org
A comment on the Buckeye Lake page refers to the Orlando version from 4/7

Hey Birdsong
I couldn't help but laugh at your comment. I doubt you intended it, but you straight out called Hal a fool.
"That path is for, your steps alone."
Please don't get me wrong
I think OR is an awesome state as well but I have heard opposing opinions on the "culture" there.

Ruben & Cherise
Can someone vine these shows or send them to me? These contain the rare versions of Ruben & Cherise.
03-27-91 Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale, N.Y.
04-07-91 Orlando Arena, 0rlando, Fl.
06-09-91 Buckeye Lake Music Center, Hebron, Oh.
The other Ruben & Cherise show (03-17-91 Capital Centre, Landover, Md) is vined, and I have signed up for it.
Try driving from Vancouver to Seattle sometime
Hey, there's truth in Hal's description of the PNW: I-5 is an absolute nightmare. Congestion from Olympia, thru Tacoma and up into metro Seattle is very intense. Good thing he lives east of the Cascades beyond the desert.
Jackstraw and Birdsong
No, not seriously. Eugene drips with Deadheads and Hippies. Did you read my last sentence? "And by the way they don't trust Pranksters out here either."
Birdsong, I enjoyed reading your defense of the area. Ted, yes that traffic on the Westside is not laid back.
