Speaking Of Columbus
Today is the original release date of Waiting For Columbus in '78.
I gave the expanded release a spin this morning.
Bob Marley & the Wailers at the Quiet Knight - Chicago
6/10/75 WXRT concert broadcast - absolutely freaking phenomenal sound
Feat Columbus Box...
has been on my radar since the release in 2022; eventually I'll shake the short change from my old fruit jar, lol!
thanks for asking; had a great weekend with the FEAT, and even better when the wife and I got together with very dear friends.
Funny though, how BK (before kids) we were always hangin' out enjoyin' life, going to see the GD or P & F, and spending vacation time together, now 30 years upon our heads, absolutely crazy how time moves forward, anyway...
always make the most of what you've got, and don't take it for granted or push it aside, especially friends.
I put on my dancin' shoes
We headed straight for the rhythm and blues!

Interludes For The Dead
Started the morning off (actually it’s already afternoon) with Circles Around The Sun and a cup of super dark roast Colombian Supremo beans that I roasted.
Ziggy
Saw him with Other Ones at Fiddlers Green 8/29 - just dumping rain during his set and it was a cold Colorado rain. Despite that, a fun night. Hornsby sits down at the piano as Other Ones take stage for Set I (rain had stopped?) and immediately begins tuning Dark Star. Friend and I just looked at each other with ear to ear grins. All in!
back...
to Summer 1974-07-19, Selland Arena and looking forward to disc 3 of daP 17, always a FUN time!
Peace All!

almost forgot about last week's 1974-06-30, most enjoyable and will return to Springfield Civic soon. Was reading the Vol 1 Compendium last night, and got to the incident where RAMROD got clunked on the skull by one of the tapers because he wanted to confiscated the guy's tape deck. wow, heavy, as told/written by Jerry Moore
it's been a month...
...since the last NE show [6/30/74], so looking towards that energy boost with today's listen of Hartford 1974-07-31, got the DL many moons ago which was burned to CD and then imported to my phone (yup the version with the UJB encore tacked onto china>rider), so while it's not daP2 version, it's still going to be a FUN listen.
PEACE ALL!

And I woke up high over Albuquerque
On a jet to the promised land
SO...
'74 has had a GREAT run between my ears so far this year... and with that comes a SWITCH of YEARS, let's HEAR how long this next RUN might last; beginning today with 10-28-1991 oakland, and dare I say, a prep for DaP #51 (hmm, a '91 for 51?)
everyone ROCK OUT this weekend, turn UP the VOLUME, and THUMP IT!
PEACE!

Dap 49 - 2nd show
Walking music for today:
DaP 22 - Discs 1& 2
Finishing the day with:
W i n t e r l a n d '73 Box 11/10 show
The great thing about scoring this box is I get 3 more Weather Report Suites. I never really cared much for Let It Grow after they dropped the suite.
Memphis Blues Again
Bear Family's recent "Memphis Blues Box" is a massive journey into the heart of the blues - from 1914 to 1969.
Last Dead -Shrine 11/10/67 from 30 Trips - although I listened to the record. Incredible stuff it is too, however you hear it. Starts high energy with "Viola Lee Blues" on side one, and by the time we get to sides 5 and 6, with "Alligator-Caution" it's like a train going offa the tracks.
Scofield, The Who Live at Hull, etc
Deep diving into late 60s jazz lately, Freddie Hubbard, Miles, Coltrane. Surfaced this morning with my first listen to Scofields Uncle John's band. Wonderful stuff, had forgotten how great Stewart is on drums, more his up next. Nice to see love for Live at Leeds and would humbly suggest to those who might have not, check out the next night at Hull, though much the same, still great and Keith Moon might edge his Leeds.
Just now??!!
Jerry's solo on Jack-A-Roe 12/3/79 Uptown - a radiant jewel, pure grace
onward!!
HOW...
...could I not GO here TODAY, 1991-10-31, oakland, what a FANTASTIC show to start a new week of LISTENING; just cannot wait to DIG into the 2nd set after lunch, BUT 1st set first; this is gonna be SO much FUN!...and WHAT AM I THINKING?...I get to follow this UP with this weeks TAPERS SECTION, that's right, you know what's up NEXT...HINT 1974-06-30 SPRINGFIELD, YAY!!!!
PEACE AND LOVE!
uncle_tripel
KEEPING...
...the ENERGY level UP, switching over to SPRING Nassau 1991-03-27 {no hornsby} and Vinny really begins to settle-in; BRING IT!
Peace ALL!

Leeds
First exposure was in the 90’s when I got the CD. Played it many times. So got the vinyl a few years ago but was kind of let down that it was a single LP and not all the songs that were on the CD.
But, must have been awesome in 1970 when it came out. Maximum R&B!
Never got the Leeds 2 CD reissue, so maybe time to get Leeds reissue and Hull.
MUSICAL...
...adventures?...got lost yesterday in the music; started early morning painting the bathroom molding which led to a spousal comment "oh that looks great" maybe painting the walls could use a new color. net effect, JAM time with headphones; continued in Atlanta 1991 with April-05 gotta love that 2nd set especially TERRAPIN> stir it JAM; oh more time for listening, yup, still painting. onward with Sandstone 1991-06-24 another formidable second set for '91 with supplication JAM wedged between E.P. & UJB. okay, okay, enough about yesterday, TODAY it's MSG 1991-09-16, if I remember accurately Hornsby is very strong this evening. away we GO with paint brush in HAND.
PEACE All!
uncle_tripel
PS :] PS :) Oakland oct 31 wonderful for #51 and it hits all the HINTS at the seaside, but ...
finished-UP...
... MSG 9/16/19 (a strong '91 show), and since it is LEAP year..., so leaping-on to shoreline 1991-05-10 and the BAND is tight and firing on ALL cylinders. This show gets 3-4 LISTENS every year around these here parts because it's all together and it ALL works during the ENTIRE SHOW with an energetic 1st SET and SUPER enjoyable smooth JAMS in Set 2.
it's got no signs or dividing lines and very few rules to guide
Peace!
uncle_tripel
