Land of the Midnight Sun....where ice blue roses grow
I was working on a crab boat doing an sesmic charter between Kenai and Dutch Harbor. We got into Kenai on Friday afternoonand I had heard that the Dead were playing at West High for the
Solstice weekend. I had my 78' Super glide Harley on the boat
and I had to tape a flashlight on my handle bars cause of salt water damage to my wiring and I rode all the way to Anchorage
to get there in time for the Sat. night show. I made it and rented
a motel room to sleep in and sneak my Harley in for the night.
Made both Sat and Sun shows. Got dosed by someone, who I
think was my later friend Fuckin' Up Chuck as he was there I found out later.....
Didn't we ?
didn't we all get dosed??? seems so......Happy Trails....Gypsy Cowgirl
free man
I was working and sleeping at the carwash down the street from the auditorium, paying my dues to the dream of living in the Alaskan woods, it was like a sign from the gods when the Dead came. the show was so good from the balcony in that small place it was a blur of intensity. when it was over we went outside, it was the night before solstice with all the rosy glow of beauty from the sun's refusal to set. when the shows were over a bonafide deadhead came by for a job, for a few days he washed cars and then moved on. what a free man he was.
