    1st Dead show
This was my very first Dead concert. I was a senior in high school and had attended a lot of rock concerts over the past few years, however, this was of course a horse of a different color!! Needless to say this concert changed my life as I got on the bus that night and have never gotten off of it!

I'm pretty sure they played Bertha and Mama Tried before playing Sugaree.

I had just seen my 5th show 2 nights earlier in Indy , my first with "special enhancement". I was hooked. Hitched home 200 miles the next day. The day after that I woke up and said to myself, "Wow they're playing in Detroit tonight, it's only 350 miles. I got my friends mom to cash a check for me and with $20 I set off. Got there during the break and the ticket booth was closed. A cop inside jerked his thumb at some head and said, "You;re Lieutenant here's got a ticket." Ticket was $8, so I handed the head my $20 bill and he disappeared to get change. The cop looked at me like I was nuts until my new friend came back with my ticket and change.

Curly was running down the hall way leading to the arena yelling at the top of his lungs. I am pretty sure they opened with Bertha and Mama Tried as well. But I am also sure we were pretty much out of it back then. Attended with my good friends Peter and John W ( Waz)

Isn't it funny how we can listen to a song or two and get stuck on an entire show, or even tour. I am stuck on fall tour from 1976. Cobo today. Darn good show and set list to boot check out the archives and give it listen people. Check out the Phil Lesh band intro back into Dancin at end of show.

According to the 30 Trips release of this show the show starts off with Bertha and Mama Tried. Oddly enough every single setlist i can find online does not show this.

Hey All, The aud tape of this show has PITB clocked in a bit under 15 minutes where the CD, which I purchased a la carte, from the box set is clocked in a bit under 10 minutes? Weird, eh?

I think I can clear this up. From what I can see at Archive (last time I visited), the only known recording of this show is one that I made. One of only three shows I ever recorded. We got in a little late and by the time were were recording, they were into Sugaree. So yes....Bertha and Mama Tried were the openers but apparently there is no recorded documentation.

For Hockey_John I remember now....you were the one who coined the phrase 'Phil Lesh Band' Although I was raised in Michigan, I hadn't seen a show at Cobo until Phish in '09.
