    Happy New Year!

The bright blue ball has spun another 365 degrees in Space and it's so good to be Playin' In The Band with all of you again. It Wheely is!

Archive didn't want to play with me today so I hit up Relisten who was gratefully game for a little 30DOD.

    relisten

I am liking the relisten site for 30 Days 2024 as the archive is having some troubles this year. You can easily browse by year on relisten. But be sure to check the right margin where there are multiple listings for the same show's date. Checking another recorded version of the same show further down the list may have better song title information in the file list, a complete show rather than a partial, better sound, better pitch etc....
    Have fun!

What a beautiful transition into this 30 Days of Dead and the gift of hanging with you all once again. Welcome back family!

Fare thee well, dear Phil. We were so blessed to have had you here for so long. Such a sweet happy heart! Feeling tender, while smiling at the same time.

Glad to be back for all the fun. Will have to wait until later to dive in. Happy that the Archive is back up or I'd be sunk!
It’s Friday, 30 DoD has started, and Dave’s 52 is scheduled for delivery. It’s like the planets have aligned or something!

You may need to work just a little bit harder to find this one.
Very grateful to be Playin' the 30 Days of Dead again.

RIP Phil. You will be missed by many, but your music will be cherished for generations to come. By the Grace of God, keep your big wheel turning on the next road of existence...

A lovely way to start the best thing about November! Looking forward to spending the next 30 days with all of you.

Can’t get Phil off my mind this windy autumn morn. Fare thee well, old friend.

Can't believe this is the 15th year we've been playing this game!

Just like last year, the first day's file is a lower bit rate than the standard 320kbps (mine was 64). A new 320 file was up by the afternoon last time, so I'll try DLing it again later today while crossing my crazy fingers. Regardless of bit rate, great choice to lead off the month!

Thanks Dave for giving us an easy one to ease back into it. This is, I believe, my third year doing 30 Days and I thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 years so this is something to look forward to in what otherwise appear to be dark times.

And, I sincerely want to note: all love and respect to the mighty Phil Lesh!!!

Back in the swing, had been looking forward to it for a couple of weeks. Gonna keep the set list but online versions of this little duo are of much higher quality.

They liked to have these 2 segments pop up post space but not always in this order. Found a ton of the reverse out there. The first 30 seconds have these great post drums moments from Jerry that I love. I had many 80s tapes where he played similar runs to the first 30 seconds or so here. Just getting it warmed up... like we all are here today! Welcome!

I don't understand this hint. What about the "couple of songs"?

Yeah, Mac0123, I'm also seeing a bitrate of only 128kbps for the downloaded file... a bit disappointing, for MP3 should be at least 256 or around there if VBR.

Thanks to all the team that makes this possible every year.

As a UK based Deadhead I cannot enter the comp, but that doesn't detract from enjoying the daily challenge of identifiying date and place.

Now where did I leave my copy of Deadbase........

Welcome Back, everyone! Looking forward to another fun year. Sad about Phil of course. A box of rain will ease the pain, and love will see you through.

The "couple of songs" you are asking about are Playing in the Band and The Wheel.
Edit: And the hints aren't always actual "hints," like this one.

can't find where to vote. tried entering from the email and just the web site, but still don't see it...

Hi. You need to be on the main song entry section and click the Enter the Contest link way at the bottom. Instead of the email invite link, try the simple url that is just double u double u double u dot dead dot net slash 30daysofdead

(Sorry we cannot post links or urls into comments .... gee dee dot net does not allow that which is frustrating but necessary to combat spammers and hackers etc. )

If the url at the top of the screen you are on shows the word "comment" once or more then you are in the comments section of that day's entry and you can't enter a guess from there.

I did not always gravitate to the Phil Zone but when I did I danced my ass off. Rest Easy Phil, and Thank You for a REAL GOOD TIME. This is a great Nov tradition to keep the community vibrant, Thank You dead.net.

The only time that this combo happened, according to Deadbase was in 1991, at a show I attended.
Cleary that is wrong because Brent is on this and Garcia is playing “Freedom Jazz Dance” during Space, which was something he quoted quite a bit during the early 80s. So, why am I not able to find this??

A Huge Thanks to All who make this happen, such a fun way to start the holidays

Please do not - I repeat - please do not - post your guess, be it right or wrong, in the comment thread. There is an actual entry form for you to submit your answer and win valuable prizes. Please use it and let folks have the fun of figuring out what show is being served up.
