thanks for the memories! goosebumps and all!

I had no ticket and did not get in but I am so glad to have been at the last show of the last Spring tour. John Christie and I drove back to Atlanta in his seventy something brown Nova, sunburned, beat, and spiritually recharged.

this was my first and only show, and i can't express how sad i was after listening to the boys and hearing later in the summer that i would not get to see them again! I have met a lot of friends over the years because of our shared interest in with what these fellows started and i am grateful for that! I hope the spirit they fostered goes on for a long time to come... :)

I was having a blast by this time on tour. I was 18 years old and thought I had life all figured out. I had a great group of friends by that time, and had pretty much figured out how to take care of myself. It seemed like to me that I was gonna be on tour forever. I was living in a dream. I have great memories of hanging out that day with my girl and enjoying the music. It makes my soul smile remembering those days, I just wish I could remember more of the music.

My orange 73 westy was in fine shape. Before the show, we hit this park down the road form the lot and found lots of balloons, played frisbee and enjoyed the beautiful morning. They didn't open the lot until like noon. I saw this guy trippin pretty good out in the lot and he was running really fast lookin over his shoulder. Apparently, he didn't see the tree that he ran into. Got interviewed by local news channel in lot. I felt a little funky during 1st set, but it was good to be in the arms of my loving girlfriend. Second set opened with EYES and that got me goin. Lots of spinning dresses and hula hoops. Jerry had a smile as he looked over the top of his glasses at the crowd. This was my last show.

And a pretty weak one at that, IMO. Just OK. Jerry seemed missing in action for much of the show...but that Visions of Johanna was the highlight. A sweet final remembrance.

I lived In Tampa For A Few Months in 1995 ... Hit Town On April 3rd And The Show Was The 7th. No Tickets ... Just Missed The Black Crowes Set ... Weather Was Perfect.Unbroken Chain Had The Sound Effects! VERY COOL.

For me a memorable night. The Crows got things going for me, and the Dead felt good. I hadn't seen them since Tampa '85 (couldn't get tix in the 90s), so it had been quite a while (first was 5-21-77 Lakeland - $6.95 day of the show, walk in and sit in front of the stage. Met Donna in a van knitting before the show). I was distracted by the teleprompters and Jerry's stillness. But during a trip down the halls with the spinners, "Visions" hit me quite nicely, thank you. The double-Dylan tasted good. I remember sitting on a curb right by the spiral ramps waiting for a friend, and listening to all the little bells on the girls skirts. Funny, I never noticed it before. It was like a river of delicate notes slowly dissolving the show. Thanks, guys. Hope the 2010s bring you good times.

This was my last show. For some reason I thought they opened with "Here comes Sunshine" jerry did not sound good at all. His solo's were just a bunch of mixed up (out of tune)notes. Corrinna and Days were a 1st for me. It was love at first sight. I thought to myself at the show ........They sound terrible and don't see them touring much longer.The Black Crows sounded better for me... this show sucked. Sorry people :( This was my last show so I'm gong to comment a llittle more. For me....I feel the band were in there prime in the 80's, I never seen a show with Keith or Pigpen, so maybe I am wrong. But Brent was the backbone of the band, not only was he a great song writter but kicked ass on the keys. When Brent died it all seemed to slowly go down hill.......It was never the same. Bruse was good, real good. And too bad he did not stay with the band. I never like Vince, the way he played,and his voice sounded like shit. He did not fit in the band at all. I fell they could have found somone ALOT better them him and why they did'nt .........who knows?? I just want to thank the band and whole GD organization. You molded me into the loving. peaceful, person I've become. Thank you for all the great memories, all the wonderful people I have met, all the great cities I seen, and most of all, THANK YOU for the music. You guys filled my live with cheer!! I am so lucky to be born is this time era.......Think about it............if I was born a 100 years before or 100 years after, Ive never would have known who the the Grateful Dead were. I've probably would have been on tour with bethoven.....lol Keep the Cd's and DVD's comming. And I'll keep buying them. Fare you well, fare you well, I love you more than words can tell. considering that this was jerry's second to last tour...and the condition of his health...i think this show (while not being the best ever played) holds up as one of the best from the year. The first set was pretty solid with the rare double dylan song selection. I was lucky to have at least been able to catch a glimpse of the tail end of one of the most impressive careers in rock history.

also.....unbroken chain was pretty f---in' cool to hear live...and the DRUMS segment sounded timeless.

So incredible.. My friends all canceled on me at the last minute and I had no ride. Boy did they miss out. I lived in Lakeland, Florida for only 4 months and had never been to Tampa. I bought a round trip ticket on a Greyhound and was on my way. The show was amazing the people were amazing and I will never forget them all. My soul felt at peace then. I dont think I met anyone from Florida but I know I didn't leave for 2 days. I could probably talk for hours about that night. It will forever be one of my best memories. Forever....

I quit my job for no reason got in the car and rolled across alligator expressway alone. I had a weird feeling that I needed to see this show and my boss would not give me the time off...so there I was alone until I arrived in the parking lot and was then surrounded with family. The crows were great and then unbroken chain wow. Thought I saw laser beams during drumz bouncing off the long thin clouds but I was really high. The drive back to ft. lauderdale was sureal. When I herd the news later that year I shead a tear, smoked a fat one and listened to american beauty.

This was my first and only show. I was 8 years old and my parents finally agreed to take me. My best memory besides dancing on the chairs the whole time was a man making me a huge balloon hat. My mom was pregnant with my sister at the time as well, so we like to say that she got to hear Jerry too. My favorite memory of my childhood.

i took 3 friends to this show who had never seen the boys before. I thought the show was a pretty good one, but Jerry seemed a little disconected. What I remember most was after the show there was a farm where everyone was going back to camp.The night before and day of was amazing, but after the show cops set up roadblocks on all of the roads leading back there. Lots of people got arrested:-( I ended up catching a couple more summer shows so I'm glad that this one wasn't the memory I would have to hold on to. friend of a friend, Norby

The previous yr i went to 2 of 3 of the miami shows,since i live in south fl close to miami ,this was like a 5 hr drive for me & 2 freinds, we stayed at the days inn i think,really close to the venue, we made plans way in advance so we were lucky to have a room in town,I remember the police were being dicks with helecopters looking for baloon nos lines & shutting down like lil vendors,busting ticket scalpers . i was like 19 so it was a great time,plenty of smoke & then some, the set list was a little of a let down compared to the miami shows ,but it was awsome because it was the final show i seen ,at the old tampa bowl style stadium, it was nice atmosephere beautiful night, i think the black crowes opend for them which was cool to see a opening act that was ok,anyhoo it was a honor to see a show in the final year,my mom was soso cool she let me use her credit card for the trip & hotel cuz 5 hrs each way we didnt want to drive back to miami after the show ended,my freind wasnt in the best driving mood,like i said at 19 it was a great exper. the show ,motel & it being a stadium show,made it really great.* rip jerry*

TucsonJohnI remember. I saw you get that hat, too. Beleive it or not, you were just in front of us, and I remember the man making the hat and giving it to you. Wha t a small world! I had had a particularly productive and profitable tour season and was trading up tix; buying up all the floor tix I could get, and as I picked up one ticket, I would turn around and miracle the closest people needing seats. I had 9 people wth me, and met a sweet little girl a few days before at B'ham. She was up in the stands, standing right behind me, not moving, not saying a word, all of a sudden, this light shot thru us both, I stubbed her down. We hooked up for the week in Lake of the Hills, were she lived. I really enjoyed the show, even with the weak set list. Tha way Corrina bounced around in the old stadium was really cool for such a suck song.

I went with my buddy, who later turned out to be the infamous Bandana Bandit! It was a great concert with lots of fun and hippie crack lol! It's amazing, I just found out that my new neighbor was there too! Unfortunately, due to a puking Deadhead, her experience wasn't as great.

first and only time heard, really cool sound effects included. The only stadium show of the tour. First time for me to hear samba in the rain and days between. At the time I had no idea that Jerry was on his way out, and was quite happy to hear new tunes comming out of the band. It was a great show, Jerry was a little lost during space, and seemed to lose the crowd, still, even on an off nite, Jerry was the greatest guitarist I have ever heard. Had gotten married in the 90's and this was the second show I took my new wife to, she loved it. We had nose bleed seats way up in the old stadium, but it didn't matter, we were inside and at a dead show. I remember the number of people that were there, lots of worn out heads (last show of spring tour) after the show, just laying around in the lot afterwards. Lots of doses around back in those days and everyone I talked to seemed in fine spirits. I remember the carload of hippies that parked next to us, they had it all and were "vending" their product at this show, not having tickets. Mighty fine hash, had they. This was our last show, I thought at the time how wonderful it was to be alive and a deadhead, still do, just wish Jerry was here too. Love you always Jerry.

1st and only show. Although I had tickets to the 1st show in Orlando the year before it was called off due to a death in the family and there was a riot at the 2nd gig.

It was this concert, I was nine at the time, that got me hooked on "The Dead" for the rest of my life. :)

The only Unbroken to use the high frequency sound that totally makes the song :) imo samba and visions were also highlights.

I had no idea this would be the last Grateful Dead show I would ever see. 14 years and 131 shows later....this was my farewell. I suppose it was fitting that it was in my home state. I wasn't terribly enthusiastic at this show..but the first set was well played. I had realized after the fall '87 tour that it was time to finish college and get a real job and plan for my future. In retrospect, that was a naive motivation. I believe this was my first and only Unbroken Chain. Hearing Jerry play Visions one last time.... I feel very fortunate to have seen so many incredible shows.

After driving 5 hrs or so from South Florida, I wasn't really in a good mood. I had wanted to catch the Black Crowes too but... traffic dashed those hopes. We, (the wife and I), were sitting in the middle of the field and were excited the hear the band. It had been a year since the last time we saw them. Our anticipation was high, (but we weren't :-) ) Unfortunately, aside from a few songs, I was thinking that they didn't play real well. As others have mentioned, Jerry was totally out of synch and his leads were weak. I decided sometime during the show that I would only see them again if they were playing in a small theater (and close to home). As it turned out, this would be it. A few months later, Jerry died on my birthday, Aug 9. Mar 1973 to Apr 1995.... A pretty good run for me. These days, I still catch as many incarnations of the band as possible, (Dead, Further, Ratdog, Phil &Friends, etc) and, although not quite the same without Jerry, it's as close as I'm gonna get.

My last show. Unforgettable.Brings tears to my eyes when I think of Jerry belting out Visions of Johanna under the summer moon. Thanks Jerry!

mail ordertook girlfriend to 1st show 5 hour drive went in handed tickets and kept getting ushered down and forward to the third row jerry side aisle i was in heaven chairs lasted till second set when they were folded stacked and removed for dancing by the fans dont remember any special tune but days between but never had so much fun either peace and thanks

One of the 3 shows I got to see...Lakeland in 80, Orlando in 94, and this one. I thought Jerry looked and sounded better than he did in 94, thought he was on the mend for real - wish I would have been right.
Unbroken Chain was super, we were way up in the cheap seats, people were dancing all around us, but the highlight was drums and space, during which the clouds above the stadium, I think the vibrations must've affected them because they formed a circle like a big amphitheater way, way up all around the stadium and clear sky in the middle. I had no drugs except secondhand smoke, but it was really remarkable and mind blowing anyway.
On the way out we passed someone's upside down VW van - how could they have managed that, I still wonder?

Tell me what you remember. My friend and I didn't plan to do more than have a fun time selling "Crazy Wild Man Jeffs' (yes, we're both Jeffs) Tex-Mex veggie burritos, but it ended up happening (with a free rolling rock with each burrito). Did everyone else have a tough time finding a place for her head that night after the campground was closed?!?!

So we were staying at this huge campground but it got busted somehow and we had to move. This guy taught us how to sneak into Busch Gardens through the wheel chair entrance. It is all about confidence. I was really high for this show and I am ashamed to admit that my friends were trying to rip off scalpers by trying to drive off with their tickets when they held them in our car window. Anyway, I was onboard for this whole tour and somehow I got upfront for this show. I remember the Visions and the unbroken and the Black Crowes.
