This year's submissions period has ended. Check out all the great performance with the Official 2016 DEAD COVERS PROJECT playlist.
Whether you play just like Jerry or like to give the Grateful Dead's beloved classics a unique spin, the 2016 Dead Covers Project wants you! We're calling all musicians - near and far - to share your love for the music and magic of the Dead through video. Show off your musical chops and you just might find yourself front and center on Dead.net during the month of February! The rules are simple - all video submissions must contain a song either written by or recorded by the Dead. How that song is interpreted, however, is entirely up to you.
Upload your video to YouTube, tag it "DeadCoversProject," and we'll make it available to view on the band's official YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/gratefuldead. Can't carry a tune? Join the fun by "liking" your favorites on YouTube.

If you go to youtube, you can like videos. That may have a bearing on the ranking but I'm not sure. Check out savannahs and the kings "scarlet Begonias". Currently at 7, but my personal favorite.

pasting the videos here is good, but make sure you post them to the Dead Covers Project on YouTube so they're entered and we know they're there. Thanks!

Marye do we have to do more than just Tag the video DeadCoversProject ? Does that have to be in the title too ?
I think I got it
Thanks
Salutations, Grateful Dead Family!A facebook friend told me I should submit this to the Dead Covers Project...
It's an audio recording of a GD/Allmans band I've played with for years.
Since we don't have any good live footage, I created a slideshow montage using my own art with a handful of pictures form the Hubble telescope. I did a series of 'old-timey' Jerry Garcia
pictures, with old-fashioned colors, to suit the "Workingman's Dead" feel.
Hope y'all enjoy. Peace.... Lisa Rainbow~~~ <3 :)

I just came to this treasure trove of music and I can't wait to listen to all the covers here. For me, this is the best thing about the Dead's music -- it's still alive, still inspiring musicians, still touching people's hearts and souls.
Here is the first of a few Dead tunes performed by a collection of central PA musicians who came together to form a "project band" called Buffalo Crossing. We played at the Little Buffalo Arts Festival in October 2013. We were under time constraints, so these are kind of the "Readers Digest" versions. Hire us to play your party and we'll stretch them all all day for you. :)
The second offering from Buffalo Crossing's October 5, 2013 performance at Little Buffalo Arts Festival. Thanks to Marye for the tip on how to embed videos.
thank you!! i saw Jerry play this many times in the early 80s and i can't remember which show the dead played it at, but that was awesome too. it was one of the first songs i ever performed and was a mainstay when i would play outside shows looking for tickets on tour. :)
This one seemed to go into the ozone, so I'll post it again. This is Buffalo Crossing's third submission for the Dead Covers Project. Hope to see you all around soon. Special thanks to Bob Martin for keeping the bus on schedule.

Hit pretty good by a car on my bike last summer. Suddenly associated the words of this song to the accident for first time. eek. Great show though. Thanks for listening.
