    AXS pre-order
hey now, folks! heres to hoping everyone is where they want/supposed, to be come this 4th of july weekend...i want to be in chicago, and will be trying to make it work. as i have read with many others comments, i too, have found the whole pre-order, with AXS, quite confusing! so i sent an email, through two separate threads, to AXS....and this is the reply i received today...same reply to both emails, on both threads..... AXS Guest Services, Jan 25, 9:33 PM: Hi there, Thanks for contacting AXS! We hope you're excited for Grateful Dead at Soldier Field on July 3rd, 4th and 5th ! The presale begins on February 12th at 10am CT. Here are some frequently asked questions: Q: How do I participate in the presale? A: Presale tickets go on sale via www.dead.net and www.axs.com/dead50 Q: How do I pre-register? A: Visit www.axs.com/dead50 to register and create your account. Q: Is there a required password for purchase? A: No Q: Does pre-register automatically get me tickets? A: No, you are simply creating an account and will have a chance to purchase when the tickets become available via the Dead Presale on February 12 at 10am CT Q: What are the ticket prices and where can I find the seating map? A: TBD Q: What is the waiting room? A: All sales via axs.com/dead50 will be directed through our “virtual waiting room”. The waiting room will open 30 minutes prior to the start of the presale. From the time the waiting room opens until the start of the on sale, we actively filter brokers, scalpers, and other nefarious actors so that we can give actual people the best chance to purchase. When the event goes on sale, users will be randomly selected to enter the purchase flow. The waiting room automatically refreshes – no need to refresh while you wait. You can sign-in to your account while you wait. PLEASE NOTE: a place in the waiting room does not guarantee the availability of tickets. Q: What types of payment are accepted? A: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express are accepted. Debit cards and gift cards are also accepted – so long as they have a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or AmericanExpress logo. Q: What is the ticket limit? A: TBD Q: If I am able to buy tickets via the presale, then when and how will I get the tickets/ A: All presale tickets will be sent via US Mail approximately 4-6 weeks from the date of the event. You will receive a physical ticket – no electronic delivery is available via the presale. Q: Will accessible tickets be available during the presale? A: TBD Q: What if I am unable to buy tickets during the presale? A: Tickets will also be available on February 14th at 10am CT via www.ticketmaster.com Q: Can I purchase presale tickets over the phone? A: No, the presale is online only. Note: VIP and Travel Package options are also available, please visit www.cidentertainment.com/events/gratefuldead50 Thanks for your patience as we confirm all the details! Have a great day! AXS Team All access, all the time. http://AXS.com Follow us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/AXS Like us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/AXS the question i sent them, asked about this promotion code ive read about, and also most confusing to me, the 'waiting room' thing....it seems here, these are the answers...at least at this point! hope this helps, it does clear up a few questions...we will see! good luck folks! nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile!

    Its for us...
I understand the frustrations... I would say to anyone looking for rooms to check out condo rentals on flipkey, VRBO, and homeaway. There are still a few reasonable apt/condo rentals that are below $200/night. Thats how I beat the crazy prices. Got a tiny little studio today off the L line for about 130/night. If you spend the time, you can find a way. This isn't the Grateful Dead and I get that. Obviously, calling it a dead show is just marketing as the boys surely feel an obligation to do the shows for the 50th anniversary. I'm sure the price is right and the last show in Chicago is a perfect ending. They make a big buck while giving the fans some closure and an opportunity to all gather once more. I guess from how I see it, by calling it the Grateful Dead, they have raised the flags to call us home. One more Saturday night! Its not Further, Ratdog, Other Ones... What is left of the Dead will come together to play the songs we know and love. You will NEVER see a show like this again, ever! Never. (unless of course they decide to play a couple more shows later in the summer ;) I respect those who want to stay away because of the circus this has caused. I respect that they wanted to do the old school style of ticket ordering. Problem is, not many of us are old school anymore. Folks who were on the ball have a shot at getting the mail order tickets. Folks who have 4 computers set up with different usernames have a shot at getting pre-sale tickets. If you're not doing that, just know thats what you're up against with the majority of folks trying to score a tix. I don't blame you for not liking it BUT it is the world we live in. I was checking out Chicago's craigslist yesterday and I already found scalpers selling tickets to all 3 shows. Some were going well over 1600 bucks a pop! How did they do it?? Lets say they sent in 1000 mail order requests, each for 4 tickets to all 3 shows. Even if they have a 30% success rate, they will still get 1200 tickets. Lets say they are split between the premium ($215) and general ($95) so roughly an average ticket price of $150. They have 1200 tickets that cost them $150 bucks each, (total cost of $180k) but they turn around and sell the tickets for $750 each, (on average) with a total gross of $900k. I have no doubt they will sell out their quantity because there are too many folks willing to pay what it takes to get in. Thats how you make a mill off of some deadheads Myself... I've made a promise. If I don't get the mail orders or pre-sale... It wasn't meant to be. I'll just wait for the tape uploads and sit back on my back porch with some cold brews. I've already paid what I feel is my max to see this show. Hope we all get the tickets we need. Its going to be one hell of a celebration!!

I am sticking with my original last song call of Ripple with Robert Hunter on guitar and vocals. End on a high note-- I can see the smiles of 70k people in attendance already. OK, thanks for posting that Phil and Friends video. I like this year-by-year show thing he is doing. Listening to the Dark Star from 1969 show now and this captures it better than anything I have ever heard. It makes me appreciate how much the gear can change the sound. They are using gear from each era to best capture the original sound and they have achieved wonders here. Beautiful stuff.

Last thing will be Phils donor rap! I imagine something like this 6-21-80 show on sunday. Minus the OMSN of course and some other tweaks. And yes of course its all good, but guessing is fun as heck!Revisiting 6-21-1980 today. Come and join me. Twinkle twinkle little keyboard player, how I wonder where you are. Peace, health, safety, fulfillment to each and all out there, be good, be well. Love love love!

The last song will be "Money, Money""We want money, what we want, we want your money, what we want, we want all your money, what we want....." or "Ship of Fools" "I won't slave for beggars wage, but I like me some gold and jewels..... I agree to disagree, and in the middle of all of this silliness, I agree to be silly also. Too bad some can't see the forest for the trees. The pranks on you

and Jerry said, "the GD came out of the Acid Tests" or something to that effect. maybe they'll go out like the Acid Tests. Three great (grate) big Acid Tests. "Storekeeper, doses for everyone!" The Great Uber-Prank. Meanwhile, it's February 10, 2015. Onward, Deadhead soldiers, marching at a show.

Out of curiousity, has anyone received confirmation that their money order was cashed / processed? While I continue to check on the USPS site each day, I am guessing that they will not be cashed until after February 28th....

The lucky ones will be notified via email in early march with tickets to arrive sporadically over the course of the following months in order to go undetected to swindlers looking to score your seats from your mailboxes. Nothing this mail order is the same except for GDTS

Just an FYI... VH1 Classics is showing the Saturday Night Live from 11/11/1978, with the Grateful Dead, on Thursday 02/12/2015 at 10PM (at least it is at 10PM on my DirecTV guide in Los Angeles, DirecTV channel 337). Enjoy.

So it is possible to have the VIP and Ticketmaster sale come and go before I know if I was lucky enough to get any Mail Order tickets? I honestly think I am more confused after reading some of these posts than I was before I read them

As much as I prepared myself for the rejection letter, it hurt even more just seeing it sitting there in my mailbox. I wonder who the hell is actually getting tickets? Going to Chi Town anyway...will be a blast!!!

@TCarrThanks for the tip. East coast time is 1 AM Friday morning. I have not seen this clip since original air date. Always nice to see the boys on commercial TV. Still waiting and chilling in NYC........ The Dream Continues.......

No way, CSNY's 'Chicago.' I don't think there will be many covers that weren't staples from GD tour. If I was going to throw out an unconventional cover for the opner, I'd go with "Hello Old Friend" by Clapton. If I had to bet on an opener... Jack Straw would be smart money with Touch of Grey not being a bad choice.

i cannot freaking believe this. i jump through hoops, 2 stamps, 2 number 10 envelopes, each night hand written on the envelope, who does this, but just as i have since the 80's, this time who can find freaking 3 x 5 cards anymore, name in upper left hand corner, is that the very top left corner or just kinda on the top left, six (6) freaking separate mail orders in case one night is sold out, hand canceled on the first day eligible, for all three shows in chicago and oh, sorry, overwhelming response, here's your money orders back. oh really, what did you have only 500 tickets per show, a thousand? unfreakingbelievable, i am so disappointed in you GDTSTOO

Any chance Branford Marsalis will make an appearance at Fare Thee Well? In my opinion, he was the best guest they ever had sit in with them. I love the man's playing and think his style meshed oh so well with the band's music. Having Branford show up for a night would be amazing IMHO. (~);} -BC

Branford came out. Not quite like 90 Nassua (those recording are some of the best I've heard), but it was quite the treat. I can see him coming out for an Eyes, or Bird Song.

I received my rejection two days ago in CA. How can you get mad at or blame GDTSTOO for that? You can't. If they get 60,000 envelopes they can't possibly have time to play favorites and sort through who they want to receive tickets and who they would like to reject. I am positive it is purely random...and the odds weren't with me.

Getting that letter was like a kick in the balls. I know GDTSTOO got swamped, etc. but been ordering almost exclusively through them for virtually every Dead related show in the past 25-30 years...was hoping that might count for something...maybe a database of frequent customers? Between die-hard GD fans, Phish fans, and newbies/curiosity seekers who've never been to a Dead show, the odds were against most of us. Gen pub is going to sell out in 5 minutes. Scalpers are already dancin' in the streets.
