This year's submissions period has ended. Check out all the great performance with the Official 2016 DEAD COVERS PROJECT playlist.
Whether you play just like Jerry or like to give the Grateful Dead's beloved classics a unique spin, the 2016 Dead Covers Project wants you! We're calling all musicians - near and far - to share your love for the music and magic of the Dead through video. Show off your musical chops and you just might find yourself front and center on Dead.net during the month of February! The rules are simple - all video submissions must contain a song either written by or recorded by the Dead. How that song is interpreted, however, is entirely up to you.
Upload your video to YouTube, tag it "DeadCoversProject," and we'll make it available to view on the band's official YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/gratefuldead. Can't carry a tune? Join the fun by "liking" your favorites on YouTube.

This is the version that Jimmy Warbler and the Wombats famously performed on the Pride of the Caribbean in the 1970s. Jimmy sadly lost that gig and now sells used cars in Daytona Beach, so if you pass by be sure to give the guy a toke, as he definitely knew his chops, but life just dealt him some bad knocks.

Hi all - Below is the Canny Brothers Band's submission for the 2015 Dead Covers Project. It is our jigged up version of a Robert Hunter favorite "Boys in the Barroom." Hope you enjoy!!
Thank you for featuring Indalo Wind. We are honored to be included with all the great musicians who have contributed to this very cool project. Peace through music.
Imagine my happy suprise to sign in and see that my video is featured today... BUT it's not loading onto the page and if you click on youtube it doesn't take you to the video. Not sure who to ask for help....but in case you want to see it.. here is the link: http://youtu.be/pz9HD57NQYgand here it is embedded here:
Big love to all!
Thanks to whoever fixed this! :)I am so stoked and honored. I may be a 49 year old woman, but when it comes to Dead stuff I still feel like the 17 year old who left home to go on tour.
big love to all!

Thanks to all for the kind words, both here and on our youtube page. For those who missed it, here is the Brokedown Palace by David Bryan and Friends featured last Tuesday.
Be sure to watch all the way through! :-)
I'm a bit confused about the Covers Project. I uploaded and tagged some songs and they appear on a general search of Youtube under the DeadCoversProject2105 (along with about 45,000 other songs). But I noticed that the Grateful Dead YouTube channel only includes about 53 songs.
Just curious if there are more selections to be made or if there is a deadline.
Thanks for hosting the Covers Project! Very, very cool.
All good things,
Mark Harrison
folks, feel free to add whatever variants you like, but be sure you're tagging your clips "DeadCoversProject" (without the quotes) to ensure that our various filters see them.
Thanks!
One more new cover for the 2015 Dead Covers Project.Scarlet Begonias into psycho-jive music, then to a brief tune we invented on the spot ("Dream"), then segue into I Know You Rider. Scarlet -> IKYR is our preferred way to get to Rider, usually with some interesting detour(s). And to make it authentic, Scarlet even has a vocal flub!
Enjoy.
Last submission for 2015. Gig closer for a show in January. We often close with Franklin-> etc -> WBYGN. But this night, we started with the Dave Mason classic, Feelin' Alright. The chord structure made it seem like a natural segue candidate. But as you'll hear, that funky rhythm was almost impossible to leave behind. Finally just succumbed to and let it redefine Franklin :).
Enjoy! The Dead Cover Project is an awesome experiment!
