Ok children its the late shift here on ba dus Settle down easy back there and get some rest. Its gonna be a long week waiting for the festivities...but let's try not to wish our lives away...time's fun when you're having flies or something like that any way Well she was an American girl  Raised on promises  She couldn't help thinkin' that there  Was a little more to life  Somewhere else  After all it was a great big world  With lots of places to run to  Yeah, and if she had to die  Tryin' she had one little promise  She was gonna keep  Oh yeah, all right  Take it easy baby  Make it last all night  She was an American girl  It was kind of cold that night  She stood alone on her balcony  She could hear the cars roll by  Out on 441  Like waves crashin' on the beach  And for one desperate moment there  He crept back in her memory  God it's so painful  Something that's so close  And still so far out of reach  Oh yeah, all right  Take it easy baby  Make it last all night  She was an American girl

Finally tonight on K DED going out to a horse with no name...and a sister with soul..... L.A. proved too much for the man (Too much for the man, he couldn't make it) So he's leaving a life he's come to know, ooh (He said he's going) He said he's going back to find (Going back to find) Ooh, what's left of his world The world he left behind not so long ago He's leaving (Leaving) On that midnight train to Georgia, yeah (Leaving on the midnight train) Said he's going back (Going back to find) To a simpler place and time, oh yes he is (Whenever he takes that ride, guess who's gonna be right by his side) I'll be with him (I know you will) On that midnight train to Georgia (Leaving on a midnight train to Georgia, woo woo) I'd rather live in his world (Live in his world) Than live without him in mine (Her world is his, his and hers alone) He kept dreaming (Dreaming) Ooh, that some day he'd be a star (A superstar, but he didn't get far) But he sure found out the hard way That dreams don't always come true, oh no, uh uh (Dreams don't always come true, uh uh, no, uh uh) So he pawned down his hopes (Woo, woo, woo-woo) And even sold his old car (Woo, woo, woo-woo) Bought a one way ticket back to the life he once knew Oh yes he did, he said he would Oh-oh, he's leaving (Leaving) On that midnight train to Georgia, yeah (Leaving on a midnight train) Said he's going back to find, ooh (Going back to find) A simpler place and time, ooh, yeah (Whenever he takes that ride, guess who's gonna be right by his side) I'm gonna be with him (I know you will) On that midnight train to Georgia (Leaving on a midnight train to Georgia, woo woo) I'd rather live in his world (Live in his world) Than live without him in mine (Her world is his, his and hers alone) Ooh, he's leaving (Leaving) On the midnight train to Georgia, yeah, ooh y'all (Leaving on the midnight train) Said he's going back to find (Going back to find) Ooh, a simpler place and time, ooh y'all, uh-huh (Whenever he takes that ride, guess who's gonna be right by his side) I've got to be with him (I know you will) On that midnight train to Georgia (Leaving on a midnight train to Georgia, woo woo) I'd rather live in his world (Live in his world) Than live without him in mine (Her world is his, his and hers alone) For love, gonna board the midnight train to ride For love, gonna board, gotta board the midnight train to go For love, gonna board, uh huh, the midnight train to go My world, his world, our world, mine and his alone My world, his world, our world, mine and his alone I got to go I got to go I got to go, hey I got to go I got to go My world, his world, my man, his girl I got to go I got to go, oh I got to go My world, his world, our world, his girl And good night Irene...goodnight.....I'll see you in my Sunshine Daydreams.....Sugar Mags fo sho!

The times they have a CHANGED. It's not time for evening tea and catching up with thee... I must decide what's to go underneath, and what's to be packed up above with me (and J.A. and the Lady. And maybe a white horse...?) on a train that's only slightly delayed... This and that. That and this. Tote's packing list says nothing of such divisions! xoox

I was staying at the MarriottWith Jesus and John Wayne I was waiting for a chariot They were waiting for a train The sky was full of carrion "I'll take the mazuma" Said Jesus to Marion "That's the 3:10 to Yuma My ride's here..." The Houston sky was changeless We galloped through bluebonnets I was wrestling with an angel You were working on a sonnet You said, "I believe the seraphim Will gather up my pinto And carry us away, Jim Across the San Jacinto My ride's here..." Shelley and Keats were out in the street And even Lord Byron was leaving for Greece While back at the Hilton, last but not least Milton was holding his sides Saying, "You bravos had better be ready to fight Or we'll never get out of East Texas tonight The trail is long and the river is wide And my ride's here" I was staying at the Westin I was playing to a draw When in walked Charlton Heston With the Tablets of the Law He said, "It's still the Greatest Story" I said, "Man, I'd like to stay But I'm bound for glory I'm on my way My ride's here..." C'mon Toto.....the Emerald City is right over there.....

Back in the 80's, my dad took the entire video of my brother's wedding with the camera upside down. The last thing on the recording is his grumbly baritone growling ... "godammit, you mean I've had this fucking thing..." One of my life's true precious memories. Man oh man, I miss that man.
