Got ideas for how things should be run differently in the Vineyard? Improvements? Suggestions? Brainstorms? Truckloads of fertilizer? Post here.,On the floor at MSG... one perfect song after another...and we were beyond elated with disbelief and gratitude. This was truely a fantasy set list and, in my opinion, the best of my 8 show run.
80s acoustic
Dstache - Do you have a list of the acoustic 80 shows? You can PM me...

Talking Heads
I will always be up for seeding some Talking Heads! I still have these shows and some great new stuff too. The old vine was intended for the cd crowd. Now that there are more people trading in flac I will pick the two best shows to burn on cds and have the rest in flac.
I'd love some Talking Heads!

How do they manage to get them out?
Out of town
Hey vine friends - I'm stepping out of town for about a week so I'll catch up with vines that are currently heading my way the middle of next week. sorry for any inconvenience!

73 vines
Looks like mdecicco1 is holding up a few of the 1973 vines (and for months, not just a week ro two). I advise against sending him anything else until he gets those vines moving again.
If I have to reseed one of the three vines, that is fine, but I am not going to seed all three. A little help will be needed from other viners to reseed if mdecicco1 has disappeared.
POMO list
So glad i ddidn't make it!!!
Only thought I have: if someone posts an e-mail address -- use it!
We all don't log in with the same frequency, so maybe that is a thought to keep things going. I have been a huge offender of not posting a 'status' (sent, received etc.)
Thanks to all for patience love and understanding.
update
Next vine will consist of 4 of the unvined shows from January 1978. Rick sent me the month and I am in the process of converting and listening to the shows I didn't already have (plus I will convert and listen to a show I had already, and LOVE, one of my all time fav shows, 1/31). 1/10 and 1/11, both very good shows, will be included. The 4th show will remain a secret until the vine is unleashed. Let me tell you, I was BLOWN away by it. If you are into, or at least don't mind, straight up rock n roll Grateful Dead, you will be blown away too.
The Best of '79 series will continue. I finished listening to the spring shows and have 2 that I think are worthy of inclusion in this illustrious series. I am taking a little break from 79 and will wait until I listen to the summer shows before vining the next part. Give me a month or so for the next part.
Rick also sent me the '80 acoustic sets from Radio City. If anyone has the acoustic sets from the Warfield or Louisiana, let me know and we can vine the whole shebang.
dstache
The acoustic radio city vine sounds awesome. I have the acoustic warfield sets from 10/2 and 10/11 which I belive I got from vines on here. I'd love to have the electric sets from those shows also, so let me know if you can get ahold of them. Thanks for all you do here!
Peace,
Trevor

Acoustic 80
Like I said I have the acoustic 9/30 and 10/3 shows along with the Radio City ones. I have been trying to obtain a few of the others...

acoustic 80
I have the 10/26/80 full show in amazing quality... if this is needed let me know Derek.
I have been looking for sbds of 10/23 & 10/27 complete shows if anyone has these... I was there and would love to get these.

Vines for everyone
There are a lot of different vines here and they are usually in North America (and they are not in Eurovines topic). It takes too long to wait them in Europe and to send them overseas and back again and again... It would be better to re-seed vines for European Deadheads separate from North America. Lets think how to do it. Maybe first person from Europe must re-seed it or there must be the other way to do it.
Apla
there were indeed a bunch of eurovines and indeed quite a few vines in the US have been started from Europe, but I think most folks in Europe get their Dead from the well known places where it can be found online and so don't vine so much.
Kind folks in the USA do send vines to Europe if you ask. Some will make new copies for reseeding here (you can then offer it on the Eurovines forum). Or if a vine seems to have reached the end of the line in the US, then the time to send it over the water and back is not really an issue and so you could sign up. So I suggest you PM the holders of the vines you like and ask them if they can help. More than one has helped me in this way.
If you are desperate for any particular shows from the 60s and 70s you can PM me too.... you are in Belarus if I remember correctly . I am sure that folks would be happy to help out a Deadhead over there. I am often in Ukraine and Russia but have not yet visited Belarus..if I do I will bring you a stack of DVDs! .( I am writing from the Sykvitkar in the Komi Republic in Russia right now!)
Got to love that magic badger!!!
Cosmic, worldly, erudite, and a whole bunch of other good adjectives - and he's always somewhere different - we could have a game called "where's cosmic badger?" - kind of like "Where's Waldo" - I'd bet he speaks like 10 languages (not including badger)
was it Jerry Garcia/Sting 6/26/93 Vine ?
Jerry Garcia/Sting 6/26/93 Vine
That was one Sting show in the vine.
was it Jerry Garcia/Sting 6/26/93 Vine ?
The other one was Sting in Houston in 1997.
The JG/Sting 6/26/93 was part of two vines at the same time. They came as "Extras" in the vine I am looking for.
i couldn't find them in the vines list
i looked in the new vines topic & went through the existing vines - they must not have been mentioned. Sorry.
Ursa or Lopez might know
or That nice hippy guy, or derek - they've all been pretty active
Sting
I'm pretty sure they were on the Sting Garcia vine at one time. I guess they may have lost their way at some point. This is what I still have:
The Police, Budokan Hall Tokyo Japan 02-02-1981
The Police, The Bottom Line, NYC 04-04-1979
The Police, Miami, FL 05-04-1979
The Police, Complete" Synchronicity Rehearsals 07-22-1983
The Police, Ghost in the Machine Demos 1981
Sting and Garcia, RFK Stadium - Washington, DC 06-26-93
Sting, Superstar Concert Series
It was the superstars concert series.
The show came as master files from the SCS. And I had to break them up into tracks. It was my first attempt at this and I messed up.

FYI
I'm heading to the Great Plains for some Yonder Halloween shows tomorrow, won't be home until late Sunday night. So anything that may land on my doorstep in the interim (Neil Young Europe comp, 5 Garcia shows, etc...) will have to wait until sometime next week.
Hey Hey everyone I think I have solved my mystery.
The elusive Sting concert was part of the First Anniversary Vine. Hidden deep on Disc 2. The vine was started by LTAPilot.

Sting concert mystery....continues
Sorry it was not I who inserted the sting shows onto the First Anniversary vine. The show may have been added after it was given to the community. Peace
Rick
Hi folks
I am still here. The vine traffic has slowed down.
Is there something in the water here at deadnet? Mind you, I'm just minding my own business and not bothering anyone or looking for trouble. :0) In the last 2 days, I have received hate mail regarding my political philosophies and love letters.
Hope everyone has a great holiday season.
"I do believe in spooks, I do believe in spooks, I do, I do, I do, I do, I do"--Lion Wizard of Oz
..etc
It probably was not really "hate mail." :-)
It was just like I have no business being here at deadnet since my philosophies go against everything the Dead stands (stood) for.
:-)

What Bullshit EDA
Considering the only true philosophy the Dead had was to allow everybody to do and be who were they were without judging.
"That path is for, your steps alone."
..etc
Let's drop this. The post was not bad or nasty. Remember I also got a love note too--within 24 hours of each other. Seriously. I was just joking that something must be in the water. I did not want to start a discussion so I apologize for stirring the pot. I have a general policy to stay inside this vinyard where it is safe and not venture out into the woods where sasquatch lurks.
It's a full moon--look at your calendars!
I'm guessing it was your gun topic?
Don't worry about it EDA. Some people are way too judgmental..

'72
I have gone through the many pages of vines. Is there a flac Europe '72 vine? I see one that is not flac and some tracks have gaps between them.
I'll check the vindex.

Messages from gloryph
I hate to bring this up again but be on the lookout for mail in your PM box from gloryph. He/she does not accept private PMs (how convenient) but only wants to communicate by e-mail (now that's a red flag). They just joined (another red flag), and the message sent to me appears to be a generic "love letter" message. I googled this, and low and behold quite a few folks have received gloryph's exact same message on other unrelated forums (flashing red lights). I suspect that gloryph has targeted other folks here at deadnet.
I am not sure what the motive is (friendship...etc) but after discovering this, I decided to put out an all points bulletin.

Has anyone else noticed
that you can google our vines. If you type in all or part of the name and end it with vine, a lot of the come up as the second or third hit. I just thought that was kind of cool.
Bill Walton
I didn't know where to post this, but since the vineyard is like my home away from home, I figured this was as good a place as any.
Bill Walton was talking about the constant criticism he receives as a basketball analyst. He said that he was like St. Stephen: "Wherever he goes the people all complain."
I just thought that was cool.
"That path is for, your steps alone."
Walton continued...
If you ever listen to a game he works on tv, he is constantly dropping allusions to the Dead and to specific songs.... A few weeks ago on the occasion of John Wooden's 99th birthday, (the legendary coach of the UCLA Bruins), he called Wooden a "Saint of Circumstance" among other references.
From this basketball fan's perspective however.... I think sometimes a little Dead-air would do him good! The man rambles!
Finally.... met him outside the Spectrum one night.... he was getting out of a Lincoln and sneaking into a side door about 30 minutes prior to the show.... stopped briefly and chatted.... was a nice experience.
Thanks.
Raymond
Mark G. Stanfield
Well, maybe a positive sign. For all you "Facebooker's" out there you might get this more then others. I sent a Mark G. Stanfield in Louisville, KY a "Friend request" 6-8 months ago. He never accepted it, but in looking at my "live feed" (sorta like the Twitter aspect of Facebook) he posted "Mark G. Stanfield joined the group An Arbitrary Number of People Demanding That Some Sort Of Action Be Taken. I don't know why he showed up on my live feed, but it sounds like it could be him.
"And I love the life I live
And I'm gonna live the life I love"
Mark G. Stanfield
I had taged Mark as a yahoo IM contact like way back whenever it was . I was recentley checking my e-mail and a little smiley face poped up with his name under it . I sent him a im but he never responed to me . kinda strange . but life is full of strangeness ..
you all take care now ..
