This year's submissions period has ended. Check out all the great performance with the Official 2016 DEAD COVERS PROJECT playlist.
Whether you play just like Jerry or like to give the Grateful Dead's beloved classics a unique spin, the 2016 Dead Covers Project wants you! We're calling all musicians - near and far - to share your love for the music and magic of the Dead through video. Show off your musical chops and you just might find yourself front and center on Dead.net during the month of February! The rules are simple - all video submissions must contain a song either written by or recorded by the Dead. How that song is interpreted, however, is entirely up to you.
Upload your video to YouTube, tag it "DeadCoversProject," and we'll make it available to view on the band's official YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/gratefuldead. Can't carry a tune? Join the fun by "liking" your favorites on YouTube.

Bear's Choice, a Grateful Dead tribute band in the NYC area performs Black-Throated Wind for the #DeadCoversProject 2016. This is just a fragment of the ending when we got stage-jacked by "the hat guy."

Good Lovin' Cover
The Grateful Dead covered Chester "Rub-a-Dub" Johnson's version of Good Lovin' at the Aardvark Speedway in Toadsuck, Arkansas in 1977. This is a cover version of that legendary cover version.

While I am greatly appreciative of this site and everything the people here do to make this it possible, please allow me to make a suggestion. It would be nice to see this thread more accessible to the average Joseph and Josephine just passing through to watch videos of friends and family. Perhaps a link on the home page titled ''Watch Dead Cover Projects Videos Here.'' If that is just not doable or too much trouble, I completely understand.
Have a Grateful Day!
I love what you've done with the Covers Project, the bracket, the voting and everything! Looking forward to watching the voting progress.
Loved watching the many videos over the past couple months. Thanks to everyone who makes this roll! Proper accolades are due!
All the years combine; melt into a dream.
What happened to the Dead Covers Project bracket? It was there, now it's gone. There was a link on the home page of Dead.net; now it's gone. Kinda disappointed at how the Covers Project videos are so difficult to access.
...but I think this kind of illustrates my point about the difficulty for the average surfer to locate and enjoy the Dead Covers Project videos here. If someone doesn't stumble across this link you posted here, they will never find it. What happened to the link from the home page of Dead.net?
Again, thanks to those who are involved in the project for making it happen. There just seems to be some room for improvement.
Hard to believe it's been twenty-five years since Brent passed.
While I will always miss him I'm forever thankful for the music and I hope I served his memory well.
Peace.

Terrapin Station (Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter) - performed by John Paul Roccaforte - 1/31/2016 - Dead Covers Project 2016
I thoroughly enjoyed the Terrapin Suite with Strings that was posted the other day by the band Other People. Here's another take on the epic song: solo piano and vocal. Enjoy!
I've been tagging covers since 2013 on YouTube, but I'll do a little more self-promotion here for this year's list, even though it seems like songs from Bob's 'Ace' are already being well represented this year...

LOL. Thanks for the compliment.
Not trying to trick anyone.
Wardrobe changes are a result of it taking me days to capture a decent take of each instrument. Take care and thanks again for commenting!
