    Amazing Show
Really an amazing show the CD refelcts this. Brent was awesome, Jerry tops. This is when the band was "ON" this is what the Grateful Dead is all about nights like this one. If you were fortunate enough to witness a night like this then you know a good night from a not so good night such as the later years. Nothing to tell now, let the words be yours I am done with mine...

This show smoked. Probably the best of the three Cap Center shows. Althea was super hot. Nothing really special about the setlist. Revolution was a novelty. But the entire 1st and 2nd set were smokin.

I remember two things from this night: Phil singing about Foggy Bottom in Tom Thumb and the epic Terrapin in the second set. So happy to hear such a pristine copy of this show. 80s Dead has its peaks and valleys, and this is one of the peaks. Check it out.

All three of these shows reflected the Grateful Dead's power at that time. They were snap-loc together and on form. The "Easy To Love You" was pretty hip. The China>Rider was Ripping Good~!! Not that it matters but after the spring tour I could only sit back and think of where the band was headed. IF ONLY.............. Cheers! JG “The Omnipotent Grateful Dead!”

Note-perfect, powerful, tender, beautiful and evocative 'Terrapin'; a quite fitting version for an official release entitled 'Terrapin Station.' Were the boys ever playing as well as they were on this tour? Debatable, sure, but the energy they had at their command in the Spring tour of their 25th year was sheer scary genius, and no one can debate that. This was my second show, and the show where I got "on the bus." And I'm happy to say that I never got off (the bus, that is.) I was kind of tired and completely sober through the whole night, and I probably never had a better time. Comparable times, and much stranger ones as well, but not better. That's the boys for 'ya.

This was my second show and first experience. My buddy got puddled in the parking lot independantly, and we proceeded to communicate using only facial expressions for the next 10 hours, and we were back in Terrapin for good or ill again. Uckin fay!!!!

So whatever happened to this museum/showcase/concert venue? that was to be a built? Was it just another pipe dream? I was taken in as were others, but this CD with it's wonderfully inspired cover and stellar performances continues to be one of my most cherished recordings. http://www.vintagerock.com/terrapin.html "if you get confused..."

This show absolutely smoked from start to finish. Phil's 50th B-day & the boys were totally on this night. All three of these shows rocked but my favorite tune is Terrapin & this show will stick in my brain FOREVER!!!

I recall people passing notes to one another telling them to sing Happy Birthday to Phil as he came back on stage for the second set. I smile when I listen to this show now and catch glimpses of Jerry playing along on guitar as the crowd sang to Phil.

This show was so much fun. I smoked opium for the only time in my life, combined with some liquid, i literally floated my way into the arena. During Sugaree every note that Jerry played formed a crystal over the stage (like supermans house in the first movie). Needless to say I was in an awesome mental space to enjoy this most excellent show. Happy Birthday Phil! "Music is the best" - FZ

This was my first show. A dear friend Greg attended with me. I have not heard from him in many years. I found out he passed away last year. I have many great memories of him and I know he is with Jerry and he is ok. So many roads to ease my soul...

My last GD show!. Absolutely great night. Very satisfying show and so glad they released it this summer, a great recording. Seems to me their energy and some of the spirit died off quickly after 1990. I moved to Alaska shortly after this show and never saw them as a whole unit again but I'm glad my GD experiences ended while they were still playing inspired music.I've never stepped off the bus though!

Sorry you got to never go to another show again bone-man. But hey you got to go to Philz 50th birthday. That was history in the making.. and got to see the Dead while they were still on top of their game..because I hate to say it but it was slowly falling apart more and more each year.. I really enjoyed seeing them in the 1980's when it was still van to go on tour.. I hope you're doing well my friend

Was there all week for the shows they had. But this show was special since it was Phil 50th birthday party. I remember me and my buddy Brian walking around the parking lot because we had an "extra ticket".and everybody holding up their signs up saying they need a miracle or it's Phil's birthday and mine too.. LOL.. we just silently walked past these people and said looking for a ticket and just kept walking and the next thing you know about 500 people started following us, until 1 not John deadhead said these two guys don't have a ticket they're just being rude and not being kind. Prove it until we pulled the ticket out and show them.. then everybody started flipping out and addressing us yes sir and no sir.. what do we have to do to get it, one guy even offered sex.. LOL.. that we declined.. and this beautiful young little deadhead girl came off and told us the story how she's never been to a grateful Dead show blah blah blah.. we got to talkin and then everybody kind of started to disappear.. so we told this young lady would you like to be our guest, and she said I would love to but again I don't have any money and I hope you guys are not asking for "SEX".. we busted out laughing and told her no we're not that type of deadheads. I said would you like to get a couple of beers before we head in.. we found the vendor drank about 6 Heinekens each. And went in.. not just because it was his birthday but it was actually a very good show and an awesome vibe. All of the gatecrashers, we're really starting to piss the security off their.. I definitely managed to get us backstage.. didn't see any huge birthday cake or anything like that.was talking to some of the Roadies which told us we're probably going to get thrown out since we're not wearing any passes.. she begged one of them and of course he gave her one and not us.. LOL.. so it pays in life to be beautiful.I did see a grill with them cooking a ridiculous amount of really good steaks. The Roadies gave us some beers and we were just hanging with them so we looked like we belong there. Then snuck by the side of the stage and just stay there and was dancing for the rest of the show. Then when they played their encore which was "Revolution". as the band was coming off the stage I managed to wave to fill and yell happy birthday and he gave just a nice friendly small and a quick bow.. I said hi to Bobby as he was coming off the stage stuck my hand out and he shook it.. and at that point the security told us we had to leave.. all three ended up wandering into the backfield of the capital Centre.. which was definitely like this is Niall and at night time.. LOL.. we didn't drop acid or eat any mushrooms..but us three just continue to drink beer and sit in the back field along with probably 20,000 other people.. and enjoyed ourselves.. that was the last dead show I ever went to with my buddy again.. and I never seen that deadhead girl again.. so if you remember the two guys giving you the ticket next to that tour bus that was me.. I hope your doing good and you read this and send me a message..

The lyrics to BTW are so singular; so perfect.

I’m impressed, Bob.

I wasn’t there; Far from it. I was home in Castleton, NY. A young 15 year old kid.

Bravo. What an incredible show.
