The last night. fucken a im burnt out.
Wow. All the special guest. Yeah the banner was a cool deal. And the gorilla with the tie-dye. How can you forget that. That was in 88 right? This run in NYC was the down fall for me in high school. But it changed my life (for the better) Well one thing I will always remember about NYC was tripping my face off on the subway. Man how fucking cool. What a great run of shows for the Dead in 88.

    SOOO much fun
I had such a riot at this show. Jerry's voice was shot with laryngitis, VERY hoarse, but his playing was stellar. I was just agog with the night--way fun. ============================================== If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking... ...if the tie-dyed banner hung that night to mark the 25th sell out is still hanging at MSG?

It was great seeing it hung up there with the N.Y Rangers yellowed with age Stanley Cup Banner. I really enjoyed this show and I've become more & more a fan of Bruce over the years. I caught Bruce opening for Ratdog in Central Park Thur Sept 1st Labor Day weekend 2005 Bruce was great and Ratdog did an amazing set with Bruce joining them on stage for a few tunes.

I remember going to a Rangers game around 1996 & my friend remarking "where is the banner". 2 years later I was @ a Knicks game & it was there. not sure what the story is. Another interesting thing is that MSG has a walk of fame honoring the most memorable performers/players etc & that a plaque honoring the Dead had been made & somehow disappeared, never to be seen again. this came up in the MSG channels 50 most memorable Garden moments which of course included the Dead. One of the coolest things about the memorable moments w/ the Dead was somebody commenting on how when Phil Jackson played on the Knicks & the Dead would be playing @ the Felt Forum (right under MSG) he would want the game to be over so that he could change & rush downstairs to see the Dead after the game.the last time I went to the garden was in 2004 & the banner was there. in addition to the Spectrum I believe one was also put in Boston garden. Man, they had attendance & # of performance records @ so many venues, but the most special has to be MSG. The final record of I believe 52 shows has since been broken by Springsteen & Elton John :-( but keep in mind that it took both at least ten more years & both had also performed @ the Garden before the Grateful Dead, so IMO it's still the Dead's record & always will be.

With out a doubt the strangest Grateful Dead show I have ever been too. It was summed up perfectly by "Whats Goin' On". At first I thought it was the acid, then I realized it was actually happening.

Interesting evening. Paid for a pricey Circle of Gold ticket. Saw an ok show but contributed to a good cause. Got to go to the afterparty and met Brent, Jerry and Bobby. Looking back on the encounter with Jerry always makes my cheeks redden with embarrassment. Did not make the most of my limited time and blabbed like the starstruck idiot I was. Shameful. Got a cool poster and the boys autographed my program. I did have a nice moment. Talked to Brent about his singing I Will Take You Home to his daughter while she was on his lap. Such a good guy.

No, The dead hardly ever left thing behind. However they left a lot of music. I was home for this show....if I couldn't get tickets i would not go so it was live on the radio and i tapped it, Lost it also. I would love to get a copy of this show on CD. Does anyone know what it may be listed under? if it's the show or a picks.

Not having any idea of what to expect, I donated to the Circle of Gold and attended the after-show party at Union Square. Bill Kreutzmann bailed about a minute after I got there. Bob and Jerry were way in the back with a huge crowd swarming around them. They left a few minutes after Bill left. The show at MSG was the most eclectic Grateful Dead show I've ever attended! Who would ever thought I would see Phil Lesh and Hall and Oates play together live! "Knockin' On Heaven's Door," which included Suzanne Vega, sounded great! Jerry's voice was shot, but The Pied Piper was noticeably shredding his guitar! Later at the after-show party, when it seemed all of the celebrities left, Mickey Hart stayed with the crowd for awhile. There was a group of Brazilian dancers and drummers who kept the party going. I took a Polaroid of Babatunde Oluntuji! Earlier, I had sat at a table with Bruce Hornsby and Suzanne Vega for a minute or two! And, indeed, I got blasted! It was daylight when I left. But the entire evening was swirling in my head as I drove home.
