I guess technically it's just "Inspect" in Chrome - but I work at a high school, and the students call it Inspector. You can press F12 to bring it up, or just right-click on the page, then left click "inspect".

View page source is found the same way, or press CTRL + U. For Mac it would be CMD + OPTION + U

So if you go to the store.dead.net -> new releases page, you'd expect to be able to use page source view and then search for "Shorelines" and find instances of it if that HTML was truly present. So either we're being hoaxed or someone has removed it until launch date.

One reason I felt like poking around was that I was surprised to see that HTML was showing "15CD" - bc that would mean each of those HI shows require 3 CDs. If it had said "13CD" I wouldn't have blinked.

But Dave's Vol 19, the January '70 HI show, needs just two discs (the entirety of disc three is from the next night) and disc two bears only 61 or so minutes of music.

I guess there could be some amazing filler! And of course the setlists for both June 12-13 1970 are either incomplete or outright unknown. But that much filler seems more like something we'd see on a Dave's Picks. So yes indeed, "goes to show you never can tell..."

We will know the truth when the email announcement arrives.

I still think that a 50th anniversary of 1974 should be this year’s Box., preferably all the audio and video from ‘The Last Ones’, along with a remastered GD Movie.

Had 2 of these shows back in the 80's, never were go to shows for me. Taper's book maybe raves about one night.

For a two hundred dollar box set save the novelty of it it being Alaska, gimme something I crave.

Just me but I like to hear runs of shows on a tour. Box set of 5 or 6 shows in a row for me is more exciting than boxes all chopped up.

Last year's box was great with it's run of summer shows.

Need I say Summer 82' or 85' runs of shows would turn me on a lot more than this dreadful Hi-Ak thing.

Heck if it's hard times coming I'll take a run of 78' shows if it has the Shrines.

Complete recordings of Winterland October 1974 run to celebrate the 50th anniversary!

Just want to say that I don't have a dog in this box set race. I'd be thrilled to add some more lovingly plangent-processed 1970 to my collection. But like so many, I also think it would be mighty fine to honor the 50th anniversary of an amazing year in GD history with a 1974 box set. And of course, with today being the anniversary of an amazing '85 show, I'd dearly love to see that one + 6/25, 6/28, 6/30, and 7/1/85 released (that 30 Trips release of 6/24 would round the week out nicely!)

I'd be surprised if they offer another cassette mastered box and if they did I would not expect to see 81 through 83 included. The In and Out of the Garden Box (81 through 83 - cassette mastered) is still occupying shelf space at the warehouse.

The Hawaii 1970 concept is interesting though as it would have to be from the June shows. The Dave's Picks (19) pretty much cleaned out the January 1970 run. There is much mystery regarding the June shows as complete tapes do not circulate. I think Lemieux has played a song or three (at least I think he did). They'd likely be a Banana Box special, which really does hint to possibilities unknown.

There are also copies of Betty Boards out there on the Archive were not part of the known ABCD cache. ABCD seems to have dried up or at least slowed down.

The Alaska shows might be multi-tracks (or mixed-downs..), as they sound very good..

The Half Baked box sure seems like a Bad Idea, in terms of marketing.

You got your people who love 1970. A 1970 box would probably sell great. And you got your people, probably a somewhat smaller group, that love 1980. A 1980 would probably do OK. But there's probably not that many people in the middle of that Venn diagram loving both those very different years. Seems like a tough sell to try to convince people to part with roughly $175 for a set where they're not super enthusiastic about one half or the other.

Me, I'm simply running out of space. I either have to stop buying every box that comes out or get a bigger house. (Which, sadly, is not a realistic option.) I will probably pass on this one and hope that they issue one of the '70 shows separately.

Killer of a show, put this together with 6/28/69 and you have a great release. Or, as part of a larger 1969 box set.

I was hoping they would stick with the "venue" concept a little while longer. I like it!!

KIDDD: Yes, both 1969 Santa Rosa shows are very good and would make a nice release (hint hint to TPTB). I do believe that the kind folks at GEMS put pretty good copies into general circulation a while back...............

JIM: Yes, fragments of both of the June 1970 Hawaii shows were streamed on deadnet previously. As I recall, both were pretty good quality, given today's sonic processing technology both could be nicely cleaned up. One had a lengthy TIFTOO. Can't recall the other one, which was a notch better quality.

Undecided about the rumored 1970/1980 box. Would much prefer that the Hawaii shows be released separately, and if they want to issue a 1980 box that would be OK. But I'd prefer to keep the 2 eras separate. Of course, I'm not in charge of choices.........

Well, yes, I may have a very active imagination. Yes, I am clearly an optimist too. (Thus my screenname) And I'd kinda like to share my wishlist of future shows right now. But I won't. I still remain thankful for what we have, regardless.

But that isnt why I decided to return and post here. The world is a scary place right now, and music can surely heal the soul in such times. For me, the poem on my wall, "Desiderata" perfectly describes it for me. Most of us are likely familiar with it. And for those who continue to struggle with what ever daily life throws at you, please know that you are not alone.

And yassss, I did like these, perhaps as much for the different, very country flavored set lists as the playing. That was good also, though I wouldn’t put in top ten of 69 (very high bar).
The timing probably would fit on a Dave’s, or definitely would fit nicely within a comprehensive 69 box because of the set lists, which help illustrate nicely what a transitional year it was!
Your 10/31 pick was a good show, but I was distracted by the recording idiosyncrasies.
Didn’t used to think a big 69 box was needed, but now think it’d be cool to historically show the big transition from the spring through fall/winter.
The more I dig, the more I discover just how transitional every year is, obviously some more than others, but always: forward, never straight as a pharmacist I dated used to say lol
Think we still need a primal box to fully illustrate the transition from 67 through 70, but could be lighter on the 69, and think there’s plenty of good shows and scraps from 69 to also make a nice 69 big power box!

Edit: of course that’s influenced by listening only, no idea what Dave’s hoarding!
Still hoping some/all of 4/12, 13 & 15/69 are available in pristine form…somewhere?

I am hopeful that the mixed up lyrical reference in the supposed title to the reported box holds true and that the box this year does not consist of Hawaii 1970 and Alaska 1980. I very much like 1970 and could be compelled into buying a box of 1970 shows, but two paired with three 1980 shows-- no thanks. That is what I say now, might change my mind later. I don't get all the boxes, they have to really scratch an itch for me....

That's the only discernible link I can identify for shows played in those two years - they both featured acoustic sets. It might have been a thing to put out a box indicating how their approach to playing acoustic sets changed over the 10 year period. Even taking that into account, I would personally prefer a 1970 box. Pass out the 1980 ones in Dave Picks.

1985 NYE was the first view of the band actually as a live event. We were so full of lysergic, it was a wow moment. Like wow, Jerry had really changed from October 1980 Warfield /Radio City run. The 1985 NYE is still a go to for me all these years later, of course, during the new year time frame.

I haven't been back to jambands or jambase for almost a decade. Once I started buying official releases I kind of forgot to go to those sights.

At jambands I saw where the Oakland A's will be celebrating Jerry on July 5th, as they start the long goodbye before Vegas A's? Stu Allen and Mars Hotel are doing a before game concert. They also have a Jerry Wolf baseball cap available. Any one going that wants to sell the hat? Sunshine Becker is doing the National Anthem. Also has an acoustic set before Mars Hotel plays. Nice!!! Go Jerry beat the Orioles!

I got in bed last night, under the covers when I thought that wasn't on AMC it was USA Network. I was too far gone to get out of bed and correct my mistake. Did all of Dave's 37, I think, the 1978 William and Mary and partial Pittsburg. Get into that deep penetrating buzz and relax, and of course, smile, smile, smile.

Still a great night to be at home and watch them live. And I like the Midnight hour with all the house lights up.

I have read a few threads of folks knocken' the Box, so I felt to say something. Now you all may be right about the quality of recordings but as to the critiques of content I feel all that bad smoke a bit too harsh. The spring 1981 shows are a nice compliment to the Dick's 13, in Nassau. Great 'Deals' with extended ends. The autumn '83 shows are quite comparable to Dick's Six, and the October 1982 shows are just gems of band ingenuity as it was the birthplace and time of a few of the 'In the Dark' tunes. I was still digging on Dave's #39 at the time of that year's Box release so the MSG Box was a nice addition to my collection. NyC is an acquired taste at times. Ciao! Seriously though, no Mono Sodium Glutamate for me.

I did harp on the cassette masters though.

I like the MSG box and hit it in sequence six to eight weeks ago. 81 still the tops for me but there's several discs that come close. I think my comment on one of these forums at the time was the box does benefit from turning it up.

I don't see them releasing another box with 81 through 83 right now because the MSG box has not sold out yet.

No one's comment in particular was I reefering to, just an over all consensus from some of the more critical comments that I have read all throughout these Dead.net threads. Personally I'm crossing fingers for a Dave's pick from autumn 1982.
As for Boxes not selling out fast, that's a blessing for some! I'm one. Sometimes folks may have been broke or undecided about a box release at the time, or maybe got the Single disc release and want more later. Maybe they get lucky and get that Box set two years and some change after initial release.

Honolulu Civic Center 6-12/13-70 3cd. Dave said "when things settle down band and tapes sound great"! These were recorded for release.

I dont feel inclined to complain much about recording quality or glitches myself. In the 80s, I had a very large collection of cassettes, of varying quality, and we were just happy for what we had. And we all went to extraordinary lengths to just get those tapes.

I told this story a few years back, but here it is again. In my college town, located in central PA, there was a country music station nearby. You could often hear it faintly in the background while using the phone, or even during the silent parts between songs on your stereo. So I called the radio station and asked them to check their equipment, but they pretty much told me to go away. I even got filters from Radio Shack, then finally, I called the local FCC office as a last resort. Later, a few townies told me that it was a lost cause and I'd just have to live with it. So, I made a new plan.

Every few weekends, I'd load up my car with my tape decks, and a few cases of blanks from friends, and drive back to my parents house to make copies. Then I'd drive around between friends' houses, staying up late drinking coffee and setting timers, etc. You know the drill. Rinse, repeat.

I'd rather spend my money on the best stuff, but sometimes there are only mediocre recordings of otherwise great shows. For me, Louisville 74 and Stanford 73 are my all time favorites. So each year I sign up for Dave's hoping this will be "the year" for proper releases of my beloved shows. But now, I am perfectly content with what I already have (and many new releases are similar to my own favorites, in higher quality regardless). The only thing that has changed is whether I want to pay money without knowing what I'm getting. It was both easier (and harder) when it was "free". And I truly appreciate the folks who post here, and test drive the new releases, as I must be careful with my spending (like many of us). So thanks! Keep calm, carry on, and be well everyone!

Love your recap! The energy and excitement you described are what make being a Deadhead amazing. Can't wait for DAVE'S PICK VOLUME 50: PALLADIUM, NY 5/3/77 and the bonus tracks from 5/4/77. Betty Cantor-Jackson's recording will be epic. Thanks for sharing!
