Announcing July 1978: The Complete Recordings

We’re pleased to announce JULY 1978: THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS, five incredible unreleased shows and the first official release from the long-lost tapes, recently returned to the Grateful Dead’s vault. Follow the Dead on a sonic journey through a superb selection of settings, an often epic adventure that finds them winning over Willie and Waylon fans in Kansas City, conjuring charisma in Omaha, and elevating the Red Rocks beyond their already spiritual planes. With five distinct performances painting the masterpiece of 1978, Betty Cantor-Jackson's always-pristine soundboard recordings, and the "hall-of-fame pedigree" of the Dead's first-ever shows at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre, this is one release that far exceeds excellence in music, sound quality, and rarity.

Limited to 15,000 individually numbered copies, JULY 1978: THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS includes Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO (7/1/78), St. Paul Civic Center, St. Paul, MN (7/3/78), Omaha Civic Auditorium, Omaha, NE (7/5/78), and Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison CO (7/7/78 and 7/8/78) - all of the performances in this collection are drawn from the band’s master soundboard recordings, each newly mastered by Jeffrey Norman. The set also features original artwork by esteemed cartoonist Paul Pope (D.C. and Marvel comics) and in-depth liner notes written by Nick Meriwether (Grateful Dead Archives at the University of California, Santa Cruz), as well as a producer’s note from producer David Lemieux.

Due May 13th, we anticipate that this extraordinary box will sell out. Your best bet is to pre-order it now, then sit back, relax, and enjoy all the exclusive content we'll be rolling out over the next few weeks right here.

Looking for something a little more byte-sized? The collection will also be available for HD digital download in FLAC and ALAC, exclusively at dead.net, on release day.

What peaked in ’78 – now that’s a worthy discussion. Yeah, ’78 is interesting, isn’t it. The set lists are damn close to ’77, at least until you get to the Fall, with the Shakedown Street material. Well, I guess as a starting point, I’ll go with the songs in the set lists for this here July 1978: The Complete Recordings box set (I love the sound of it, drooling here just talking about it). At least the tracks that I think had some notable moments in 1978: Bertha – kinda sort of peaked, at least as far as post-hiatus performances go. I like it best in 1972, as I do most of those older tunes. Veneta is probably my favorite, and most of the E72 versions are in the same ballpark. Like a lot of songs, it kind of mellowed in the ’74 versions (or at least it sounds mellow in the recordings we now have of it). Post-hiatus though, I like the 1978 versions best, as Jerry started delivering a biting, aggressive solo, and the Wolf’s sharp mid-range tone makes this one a rocker again. So maybe it didn’t “peak” in ’78 per se, but it returned to the forefront as a rocker. The Spring ’77 versions are just ok to me – they seem to be tame compared to what they would become in ’78. DaP 12 (Alright Hamilton!) and DP 10 in late ’77 start to pick up the aggression again, and then DP 18 and DaP 15 (Sleeper of ’78) are hot, as far as official releases, and 1/30 is hot on the soundboards. From Egypt With Love has a decent Bertha. I’d be remiss in my post-hiatus Bertha coverage if I didn’t mention DP 20, which has Keith in “rolling thunder” mode on the piano – love it. Cassidy – this is one of my favorite Bobby tunes, and it seemed to get better every year they played it, culminating in my favorite performance from DaP 7, 4/24/78 (Return To Normal with the Grateful Dead). Other great April versions are 4/10 at the Fox and 4/16 in Huntington, WV. I also enjoy DP 25 and 30 Trips ’78. What makes 1978 great: smooth and tight every time; Jerry’s solos step up from “feeling around” to “command and control”; Keith’s piano accompaniment has largely migrated from rhythmic chords to improvisational melodies (particularly during the Fare Thee Be Well Now arrangement); the outro jam section after FTBWN is smoother, longer and faster, with Jerry leading the charge for several more bars than earlier versions; but here’s where it really kicks ass time and again - Bobby & Donna have mastered the song as a vocal duet by 1978, and their timing and harmony is precise – really just beautiful every time. There are some great ’77 versions as well, but I think ’78 is when they peaked and the song reached its fullest potential. Estimated Prophet – The Jerry solo that takes hold around 3:45 or so and only in 1978 goes on for a minute and forty seconds typically, I think as long as two minutes on one of the soundboards I have. I also like the back-to-basics electric piano sound Keith employs, and the Dick’s Picks 18 mix is my favorite. But the outro jam also goes on and on in ’78, and the song times in at the 12 – 15 range, where it was only ranging from 8 – 11 minutes in ’77. Longer = better in Dead Land. The Music Never Stopped – The jam at 3:45 or so also goes on for two minutes, not so unlike Estimated Prophet. And it’s a great arrangement that they began developing in late ’77, coming to a face melting climax on DaP 7 (Return to Normal with the Grateful Dead) and DP 18. Donna also perfected her delivery of this one to its utmost in 1978. Just listen to her deliver some of these lines like “There’s a band out on the highway” and “Greet the morning air with song” – it’s fantastic, and it got much better with each year. Similar to Cassidy, she and Bobby reach a synchronicity with the co-delivery of the vocals on this one that is better and better with each tour. And then there’s the ending jam to this one, which also reaches its peak in ’78. I enjoy a lot of ’77 versions too, but it’s ’78 where all of this Dead things come together. Franklin’s Tower – what?? WHAT??? Ok, I enjoy the Holy Trinity as much as the next Dead Head, and it’s a damn shame they don’t play it in 1978 – or is it? Take a listen to 4/10/78 out of Stella Blue or 1/30/78 out of Drums. 4/10 is nearly flawless and it goes places that no former version went; 1/30 has an audience patch for just about 30 seconds before the vocals, and there are some missed lines by Jerry, but the music is all balls. Those two clock in at 13:37 and 17:09, so you’re getting your money’s worth. They really rocked this song up a notch in ’78, and while I’ll be the first to admit, this song fell victim to the ’78 sloppies at times, but they really hit the ball out of the park on a few of these, and unfortunately, you wouldn’t know it unless you’re a soundboard collector, as there are no officially release 1978 versions of Franklin’s Tower….until we get our dirty filthy hands on the July 1978 Complete Recordings box set in two months. I have not listened to the Red Rocks version, but I’m praying it’s even better than the couple I mentioned. I admit, it’s a new love affair for me, Franklin’s Tower circa ’78, so it will be interesting to see if I change my mind after revisiting ’76 and ’77. I’m massively disappointed that the new Dave’s Picks shows from ’76 do not have a version, but Red Rocks may quench that fire, we’ll see. Deal – I prefer the one drummer versions, especially the 1972 renditions, so like Bertha, I think the real peak is ’72; but for post-hiatus, ’78 is where Donna goes off the hook, don’t you let that deEEAAL go down style ending. I like it. Terrapin Station – I’m not sure. There are some extended passages in the Closing of Winterland version that I really like, but I don’t have enough ’78 Terrapin yet. We’ll say “possibly peaked in ‘78” on this one, and revisit after the box release. The ’77 versions are almost all perfect, but there’s something about that Winterland 12/31/78 version that grabs me, and while it’s my favorite version, I’m not sure that it’s consistent across ’78, and therefore worthy of saying it peaked. The Other One - for post-hiatus versions, it peaked in ’78 for sure. One listen to Dick’s Picks 18 and From Egypt with Love ought to firm that up. Wharf Rat – again, ’72 is the year if I had to pick one year, but it definitely had a revival in ’78 that made ’78 the king of post-hiatus Wharf Rat. Some good ’77 versions, but I think the Wolf brings out those spacey opening chords like I need to hear them, and the outro jam is hot hot hot (especially 4/22/78, the Sleeper of ’78) The Wheel – need more ’78 versions! But nothing comes close to Dick’s Picks 18, and the Wolf is largely the reason once again. I admit, I’m banking it all on this one version, but it’s that much better: the dreamy magic carpet ride that Jerry and Keith take you on for the first minute before the chorus kicks in is sublime, face melting, Deadness. And this song is to Jerry and Donna what Cassidy is to Bobby and Donna by ’78 – a masterful duet. ’76 had those drum intros that completely change the mood, and not for the good, which is presumably why Jerry did away with it in lieu of the guitar intro. ’76 did have a couple of long running jams at the tail end (30 Trips ’76 & So Many Roads), and you don’t get that from Dick’s Picks 18, but it’s not really The Wheel at that point anyway, so no need to feel like you’re missing that if go with ’78 for the desert island – simply cut the ends off of those versions and call them Jam. DaP 1 and DP 29 are two great ’77 versions that come close to the 2/3/78 gold standard that is DP 18, but not quite there. If you’re not familiar, put it on loud and maybe turn up the treble. Who Are You – never sounded better than ’78, except maybe that blistering live version from MSG after 9/11. Townshend’s guitar was on 11 with some extra cowbell that night. But outside of that live performance, the studio version right on Who Are You is the only place you need to……wait a minute…..

...with a psychedelic-painted face nonchalantly hooked her arm through mine...on a city street in Atlanta, GA in 1973. "Wanna see Zappa?" she asked. I knew Frank existed, but had never seen him live. "Sure," I said. "Here," she said, "swallow this." (Stupidly trustful?) I swallowed it...and followed her to the Fox Theater. She neither had nor showed a ticket. She eyed some guy at the door, who let us both in. On we walked...and walked...down the center aisle...and sat in the first row. Then Frank came out...with Napoleon Murphy Brock, George Duke and the rest. This was the greatest concert I ever saw. Frank was standing right in front of me...and he seemed 10 feet tall. The highlight was "Dog Breath," if you know the song, it starts out with 3 chords: hit hard four times...then five chords: pow pow pow pow pow! It was during those transcendent chords that I actually had the feeling of leaving my body...with no sense of panic. When the concert ended, the entire audience IMMEDIATELY stood up as one and demanded an encore that could not be denied...or forgotten!

Yes, to 3/21 and 3/22! We definitely got the 2 best shows as complete ones, as well as the rest of the jams on the bonus discs, but I bet if those shows were recovered today, it would have been box set treatment. I was recently fortunate enough to score the Rockin' The Rhein AOM Bonus Disc as well as New Year's Eve At Winterland. I can't get enough of the AOM one. It truly is a One Disc Wonder, perhaps the best example of one. What are some other ODWs? Of the top of my head, DP16 Disc 2 is a the one that gives AOM Bonus a run for it's money.

    Arrowhead July 1 Context
I teach history, and I'm from Kansas City originally - I've seen many a Chiefs game at Arrowhead. Thus, I feel compelled to add some historic context for the July 1 Arrowhead show. Enjoy. Video: The band Missouri playing "Hold Me" at Arrowhead 7/1/78. Some great crowd/stadium footage (good performance too): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3uHya-Mc8U Poster: http://www.postertrip.com/members/images/3566a.jpg From "The History of Willie Nelson's Fourth of July Picnics": Willie played concerts at the Austin Opry House on July 4 and 5, billing both shows as Picnics. He also played a July 2 show at Texxas Jam in Dallas and a July 1 show in Kansas City, Mo. The traditional Picnic was still cooling its heels when Willie suggested having one at the Opry House to manager Tim O'Connor, and it proved to be a welcome respite from the heat and lawsuits. A few days earlier in Dallas, 25,000 didn't quite pack the Cotton Bowl ... and Willie admitted it just wasn't the same: "It's too controlled," he told the Washington Post. "I liked it better when it was out in the pasture." The July 1 event in Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City was billed as a "Fourth of July Picnic," but is notable because the short lineup included the Grateful Dead. "We didn't have an outdoor location, and it was at a time when we had to kind of stay out of Texas. ... It was two nights and it was the coolest Picnic we ever had," said Tim O'Connor of the indoor mini-Picnics in a 1987 interview with the Statesman. http://stillisstillmoving.com/willienelson/the-history-of-willie-nelson…

As much as I've agreed with almost all of the bands listed so far, it is, in the end, a truly subjective exercise and primarily a function of personal taste. That said, I'd add the following American artists, who I don't recall seeing posted, as not only great, but important and influential (if overlooked in some cases). The Blasters Captain Beefheart Dispatch/State Radio Dylan Johnny Cash Galactic Hot Tuna Patti Smith Television Tom Waits Muddy Waters Chris Whitley Johnny Winter Wilco No doubt many others...to each his own.

A classic show with a classic lineup of the Mothers. It's the 50the anniversary of Freak Out in June and I've been going back through his catalog since January. I find the early stuff difficult to listen to, but the Teen Rock Combo years in the late 70's right to the last tour in 1988 has some amazing live music in circuation.

These lists have been great but it's disappointing I haven't seen T00L anywhere on these lists. With all the psychedelics, weird music and fun deadheads like to have it is always a surprise to find so few T00L fans in he dead scene. They even mention the band in a song of theirs, while it is rather tongue in cheek nonetheless it's there :) Seriously, start seeing them live and save some paper from Dead tour to take with you. Pleases and thank yous. Other notables not on a list yet and I'm sticking with rock (mostly) only too in an effort to be expedient. Hey.. jrf/HF, your shipping notice says "Label Created" in Crozet, VA?? Mine says "Horse Fed" in Crozet, Va. You must have selected the expedited shipping option. On that note, I have been noticing the standard shipping on this stuff is 7 - 10 days, but you have a few options for expedited shipping. The 4 day option is the same price as the standard 7 - 10 days. Has anyone else noticed that? For this box I clicked the 4 day option at the same price.. I doubt if its any different though.

In fact, it was only by chance that my buddy who possesses 30 Trips (I helped pay, he got the box) detected a cracked disc 3 for the '90 show in February, 3-4 months after the box arrived. We called a few times over Feb-April and Dr. Rhino finally got involved and mailed us the replacement last week. (God bless Dr. Rhino!) You are smart. However, I never listen casually to these releases. We stage an evening and devote full attention to listening (while vaping and sipping cold beer). So there's always a delay of sometimes weeks, because my GD bro and I like to listen together, then discuss. Rest assured that we'll be hitting at least one RR Show before May is done! Tracking works this time; sez I can expect Monday delivery. Cool!

JimBo I also had noticed the shipment option of which you speak and did that too - not that it matters now, since I usually either receive the CDs, then get the shipping notice, or as with DaP18, get the shipping notice and then wait til like a week after everyone else get theirs, then it arrives. Seemingly no rhyme or reason. Furthermore on my FedEx 'travel history' section for this one, it says shipping information sent to FedEx on Friday 5/6 (now nearly a week ago) yet there is zero other info in there....I cant possibly believe this has just been sitting for almost a week....unless perhaps this is on the same delivery schedule as Jim's, using passenger pigeons. Regardless, Sixtus is psyched for this one to land. What a month May is going to be.

agree with spacebro last nights movie was awesome. however i cant help but point out that all the tunes they played (saved for the first set brent-erruption) were from the 70's :-) it was a little disorienting though at the end when the feed switched to a dead & co highlight...reminded me i wasnt young anymore and sadly neither are they. at least i'm still here, and long live the strange that remain cannot wait for this 7/78

Really enjoyed show, and I also agree that it was kinda blazed for them to show Dead and Co afterwards. A lot of people in the theater left immediately, and most were gone once Mayer began singing. It was like D&C were trying to say to everybody, 'hey check us out we are much better than our lineup suggests'. I'm sure the D&C ad did its job, and converted some naysayers as it was a pretty good performance. But to me it just was too weird to immediately jump to the middle of a Slipknot from D&C after more than 2&1/2 hours of the actual GD.

See this is where I get a little spicey when I'm spending my hard earned. Yeah yeah I know everything will work out in the end and all that hippy stuff that I partially subscribe too but my estimated shipping date is in the past. May 6th and I received my notification today. I'd like to give a shout out to the person that once posted about the latest cd release SNAFU that "it was tradition". It might have been the delay in 30 Trips, or Hebron, or the Freddy Kruger-ing of everybody's Daves picks, but whatever it was that comment had me on the floor laughing. Happy Thursday. Beers to you!

I wonder about all the anxiety and consternation about shipping. Maybe try this: 1. Order regular shipping. 2. When and if you get a shipping notice, look at it quickly to make sure it is not warning you of a problem, then file away. Do not look at details. 3. Do not worry or think about 'when' it will arrive. You have lots of other music to listen to. 4. When it arrives, be surprised and happy you got it. 5. Repeat.

got yours already, i just got my notice...gonna be a monday thats ok, maybe i will actually open of the other 4 boxes waiting their turn Edit: Sixtus: got my notice today and it says on mine expected shipping date May 6th. Then below, dated today, it says "shipping label printed." Jim: I have checked the 4 day at same price for several orders and seemed to get here pretty quick. But the ones that were mostly ordered were warehouse jobs, not a bulk shipment of 15,000.

....with shipping, I calculate it being $28 per show. Now, I may not want to hear the little brother to 7.8.78 on the day I get it, but on 11.10.18, it might be the scratch to my itch at the time. Lo and behold! There it is on my shelf. Plan ahead fellow fans. I personally embrace the recent deluge of Norman mastered treasures that head my way, make me check my phone every day for shipping updates, scratch my head as I balance the bank account, etc. Totally worth it. For example, I dusted off RT 4.3 tonight and went right to the 11.20.73 Denver philler right away. Hit the spot. Now, maybe DP 26 could have philled that void, but it wasn't in the cards. But if I wanted to scratch THAT itch, I've got that scratcher too. Prep for the days between my friends, and as always, stay kind....

Really? Its still cheap. Wait until it sells out. Its the same price per disc they always are. This ones so good.. I bet it sells out a week or two after peoples first listen (which could very possibly be tonight). I think this is very comparable to Spring '77 which is hard to get for more than triple the price.

I've put the July 78 box set in the shopping cart three times and not followed through. I can swallow the shipping cost but with sales tax it comes to almost $160. Why are they charging sales tax? It's not like the Dead have a retail store in my state. I went to the first of these shows and even though I missed the Red Rocks shows in this set I went to the ones a couple of months later at the end of August. The period is dear to my heart but the added costs make it just a little too rich.

Blame the state you live in not Dead.Net.. but most internet sales are taxed these days, Its essentially sales tax and regulated by the states. Its 5% in Maryland. That's just the way it is, its written into state law. As for cost.. if you have at least one good buddy, its free. Your other option is to buy the physical product, which is still cheap, for now.

I live in Scotland. Buying the CD's makes you guys moaning about shipping charges fade into the background. I'm still waiting for my Dave's Pick vol 18 which was posted 27/4/16! So, I thought, I'll just buy the download of the 1978 box set. It does say above that that option would be available today. However it isn't there! Amazon UK are doing the stand alone download for £9.99(approx $14.50) but I don't want to buy tat and then pay for it again when the whole 5 shows become available. Come on guys, what's the script?Love and metta Bill

One of my DaP18 landed in Edinburgh today. It is funny reading people complain about shipping within the US. I got stung pretty badly on import taxes on the last few boxsets too. Not to mention the price flights/holiday to Santa Clara last year.

Finally decided get this box, after the release date. Just got a shipping confirmation and the box is on its way "soon." When I ordered, I got a $5.00 discount on shipping, I wish it was more but what can you do but be grateful for a small discount. It was eaten up by Pennsylvania's 6% sales tax. (8.50% or something like that, if you live in the City/County of Philadelphia.Delivery sometime next week. For those who already received their box, is it about the same size as the May 1977 box from 2013?

Wow. Two Scots in a row. How about that. Don't mean to derail this board, but since I have your attention, I will. The kids want to visit Edinburgh next April. Are we foolish to go that time of year, given the unpredictable weather? Regards. AJS

Hahaha it cracks me up how people in the US can complain about the fact that an order will take 3 or 4 days to reach them. I received Dave's Picks 18 a couple of days ago. It took 15 days to get here which is about the fastest I have ever received an order from Dead.net. As regards taxes, people who complain about 5%, 6% or even 8.5% sales tax should try living here where sales tax is a eye-watering 21% - on everything. When the July '78 box reaches me, not only will I have paid $24.99 shipping, but I will also have to pay the 21% sales tax on top of that. Add to that import duty and potential processing costs and you can see why I laugh in the faces of those who complain about having to fork out an extra couple of dollars. I recently ordered a couple of CDs from Amazon in the US. The order value was $26.40. Add to that $8.97 International shipping, then here I had to pay sales tax (BTW) of 4.96 Euros (= $5.60) and 13 Euros (= $14.70) for processing - paying for some guy to work out the BTW and print the payment form. Total cost $55.67 for goods worth $26.40. I have come to accept that this is just the way it is in a world where everyone is a thief. No point in getting mad, and getting even is not an option!

looking on internet at things and stuff. did some research on Red Rocks. How I wish I had made an effort to see the GD there. first show was in 82 Ventura, and I heard people talking about going to Red Rocks, but I had no clue what that meant. Could have gone in 83, but college had started again. 84: duhhhhhhh. 2 dum to try. 85: again, school had started up. 86: Jerry coma 87: too wimpy wimpy wimpy to make an effort. that was the last chance. What a place to experience the GD. the warmer weather makes me jones like crazy for a GD concert. AHHHHHHHH!

dead setter, the tracking for my shipment also has the anticipated ship date as 5/6/16 eventhough the email notification from dead.net was sent yesterday the 12th. No change at all to the shipping information on the FedEx site. FedEx is the worst shipping outfit I've ever dealt with. They should just call it quits.

I will be doing a road trip from Seattle to Missoula and back this weekend to pick up my son from college. First leg is tonight: Seattle to Spokane. 9/24/72 and 5/16/81 are on the agenda. Then from Spokane to Missoula Saturday: the Dave's Picks of 5/14/74. :))))))))))))))))))))))))))) My son is not a Deadhead, so I will listen to some other stuff on the way back. but for 18 hours, it's me and the GD, in the car and a hotel, travelling across some beautiful terrain.

Got my shipping notification yesterday! The notice said it should arrive by Wed. 5/18, but I live in central NC, so I am betting it will be here on Monday, along with my discounted Vault box and blu-ray SSDD! I live a little over 4 hours from Crozet, Va., which still doesn't explain why I received my shipping notification for and my 30 Trips box on the same day last fall!?!

I dont think I have paid attention in the past but are the arrival dates somewhat random or based on the coast you live on or are they accurate like UPS? Its FedEx and I ask because I live an hour from crozel VA (source) but it says iy wont arri e until mid next week. Should i ignore the arrival date?

00088 arrived in New Hampshire! I've bought every limited edition they have put out (I opted for the USB drive instead of Boxilla)and this is the lowest number I've ever seen. Very nice job on the packaging. The book looks good on first skim. Looking forward to running through these this weekend.

Be fully prepared to wait until mid-week. I live 2 hours away from Crozet and my DaP went down to Charlotte, NC and up to NJ before coming back here to VA. Right now my '78 box sits in Martinsburg WV awaiting its return to VA. These releases always get a little tour action in before coming home. I can't say that I blame them :)

So dumb. I live 20 min from Crozet (in Charlottesville) and mine is in WV, as well. I understand logistics companies have their metrics, but if this would have gone out USPS First Class, it would arrive tomorrow and he Dead store may have saved some cash. Shew, I could have driven and picked it up, for that matter.

The spooky thing is that the download options appeared this afternoon (UK time) but have now disappeared. On the plus front the Red Rocks show was delivered by Amazon (it carries a "made in the eu" imprint hence the immediate delivery rather than waiting for it to be imported from the US) and first impressions are positive. Once the download option is back I shall certainly grab the high-res option as it is still much cheaper than the physical version once you factor in international postage and the whopping customs charges. With the latest Daves Picks also arriving today I have the weekend pretty sorted!

Perhaps in addition to focusing all this attention on grabbing the reels from the vault, we should also grab one or two of the mail man heads and liberate a few hundred copies from Crozet for same day delivery. I envision that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer got Newman (the mail carrier) to use his mail truck and take a shipment of bottles and cans to Michigan to get the 10 cent refund instead of the 5 cent refund you get in NY. Instead, we will grab a mail truck, throw a big steelie on the back, drive to the warehouse in Crozet, distract and fill it up with Box Sets and hook all our buddies up with same day service. What could possibly go wrong?

While I ponder whether I want to fork over the extra $14.25 in Illinois tax to buy this set I would caution all about the downloads. I don't know if they are all like the May 1977 set I bought but with that one each song has a short dropout at the end of the file so that it is impossible to listen to the shows continuously without a little dropout whenever the file advances. Some people may not mind but that's pretty jarring to my ears. I thought at first that the files had been corrupted so I asked dead.net customer service. They kindly and promptly investigated the issue and answered: "I apologize, it looks like this is how the product was produced, we are not aware of a issue that we can correct." So it seems that the download files are intentionally engineered to give what I consider a sub-optimum listening experience. All I can figure is that they do this to make it more difficult to produce bootleg copies but it is still a big disappointment. Like I said, I don't know if July 78 was produced the same way but caveat emptor. If anybody has downloaded it I'd appreciate hearing if the files in this set have the same problem.

Dave Lemieux chats a little about the making of this box set. Here he is, calm and cool and well spoken just like the excellent archivist that he really is. None of that highly distracted and sometimes annoying and embarrassing to some viewers. He really shines here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Thkv4Uzm8k4 It's the same video the420dandito posted earlier. THANK YOU DAVE LEMIEUX!
