During the mid-1970s, the Grateful Dead saga was unfolding like a Greek classic. The Sisyphean Wall Of Sound had nearly broken the band. From it spawned a Medusa head of countless side projects, all deliciously fruitful but woefully not the same as the whole. The chorus lay in wait, pondering the reemergence of their heroes, and wondering if "THE LAST ONE" had really been it...

But in early 1976, Apollonian light and healing would shine upon our intrepid wanderers once again. No more epic battles for the people with cops and lines and tightness, the Dead would return triumphant in smallness, playing intimate theaters and renting equipment along the way. No more ticket scams and greedy promoters, they'd give back with first ever mail-order ticket program, one that had a few kinks to work out but eventually served the fans well.

Musically, June 1976 signaled a Golden Age of harmony and prosperity for the Dead. It marked an Odysseusian-like return for Mickey Hart. Donna Jean was in lock-step with the sirens' call. Jerry and Bob delivered orphic delight with solo musings like "Mission In The Rain" (the only tour they ever played it on), "The Wheel," and "Cassidy," emboldened by group effort. There was fresh repertoire from Blues For Allah, breathing new life to the Dead's continually morphing sound - as Weir once said of the '76 tour, they wanted to play "a little bit of all of it." Old favorites were re-envisioned with cascading tempos and unique sequencing, making the crowd question if they'd ever heard these songs before. And there was comfort and joy in the familiarity of watching the band make it up as they went along. By all means, it was clear that the bacchanalia of live Dead would reign on.

And now the revelry from this epoch, evidenced by the near-studio quality sound captured on two-track live recordings by Betty Cantor-Jackson, lives on, bolstered by Jeffrey Norman's HDCD mastering. It's housed for posterity in a handsome box featuring original art work by Justin Helton. It’s documented in liners by Jesse Jarnow and photos by Grant Gouldon. And it’s ready for a spot on your shelf.

As part of our pre-order for this Dead.net exclusive boxed set, we'll be delivering downloads of each listening party - one for each show included in JUNE 1976 - to purchasers from now until the March 20th release. Order at any time before release and you'll receive all the listening parties to date.

    Fabulous Shows

I am a relatively new deadhead (5 years or so) and had never really focused on 1976 because in some ways it seemed like it was a warm up for the greatness of 1977. At first listen to the box set, I thought there were some great moments, but it really didn’t change my opinion (I admit likely because of my bias going in). However, I put the June 14 Beacon show in the regular rotation and found myself coming back to it regularly, so I decided to re-listen to the whole set and my goodness, what a great batch of shows this is. Every show is very well played and every night had greatness as well. Several of these shows are in the regular rotation now and even as a newbie, I can see how the band was progressing from these shows, to the early 77 shows (I love the Swing show), which then progress to the spring and fall 77 shows.

I have notified Jeffrey Norman and Rhino. I sent Jeffrey the logs of the LAC test results showing 80% of the June 76 files being upsampled. While he was very nice in his response, he had no explanation for the finding. Rhino has not responded to any e-mails. It is important to note that the files on both test “Clean” after downsampling to 24/96, which, likely, means the files, were originally digitized at 24/96 or digitized at 24/192 and downsampled to 24/96 for mastering. Whatever the case Rhino needs to disclose this fact on their web site or change the files for sale to 24/96.

i just received my copy. it came in an outer box that had clearly been reused. some of the old labels were torn off, others were partially covered by newer labels. the tape was poorly replaced, but worst of all, the inner box had the cellophane torn and the box was scratched.

i’m so disappointed. for $150 i expect a better product.

these are the first CDs i’ve ordered from this site...if they all come like this, i don’t know that i’ll order again.

i’ve emailed the fulfillment company. hopefully i’ll hear back soon.

I ordered this recently, since there are less than 1K to go, and I have to say, I'm really pleased with the appearance of this set. It showed up quickly, having avoided the initial rush to get it, and it's a beautiful package. Sounds good so far. I know I'll get much enjoyment out of these tunes, of course.

For those who wondered about the booklet: this is not a defect. I'm in the publishing business, and I know that most paperbacks these days are what's called "perfect bound," which means the pages are glued in. Open the book completely, crease the spine, and you'll leave a mark; open and close it enough, and the pages will start to fall out.

This booklet is more like a very slim version of an old paperback, where the pages are held by string. That means you can open it up and flip through it many times for years to come, with no worries that the pages will fall out. It's both an aesthetic decision and a practical one. So it may look weird on the spine--it's not a paperback?--but it's a quality move. Very nice, and much appreciated on my end.

Looking forward to cranking up that Crazy Fingers!

For the Reno show the plan was to leave LA about Midnight or a bit earlier...the thought was we'd drive in a friend's, what else, VW van...the owner was a sweetheart of a young lady that I had met (along with her girl friends) in line at the Student Event ticket booth at UCLA for a Pauley show a few months earlier...there was going to be a total of eight of us or so going...we were leaving at night so we could catch Sunrise over the Owens Valley hitting the Sierra Nevada peaks to the west...well of course as we packed in the van it didn't start...we tried for nearly an hour and nothing....I left in a taxi to the Burbank Airport and caught an early flight to Reno...funny thing was the PA system in the airport lobby made an announcement garbling my Mexican last name and adding Dead Head..."will Ric Or Valerie Deadhead please use the Courtesy Phone" I answered (this was about 6:00 AM by now) and it was one of the ladies saying the van had been fixed by one of our friends and they were on their way and would see me later in Reno...Yay!!! We hooked up and the following day headed out to UC Davis...after we passed Truckee and started to climb up into the Sierras the van started acting up again...we got off the Interstate and pulled into a small parking lot...The friend who had worked on it the previous early morning got underneath it again...of course it was snowing as we all got out...I made a PB & J sandwich and took a stroll around the parking lot...I noticed a marker at the end and walked over to it to read what it said..."On this site in 1847 the Donner Party..." oh shit...I finished my sandwich, but oh shit...then I realized we were parked at Donner State Park right by Donner Lake...man oh man...

Nappy, thats a great story! Those poor folks in the Donner Party sure could have used some of those PB & J sandwiches . I wonder if that is a lonely area at nightime. My friend visited Little Big Horn toward sunset, he was out there by himself and said it was a very lonely place.

First, been digging Scooby Doo, thanks Doctor, er a Senator! Perfect choice, besides that beautiful DS, that Eyes! Hard to believe it was like what, a month old? A tad Allegro for a pre Hiatus, but in a good way, like many of the new ones over the years, you could just tell they were eager to rip it up. Also, really dug the WRS prelude only, also a tad Allegro. Makes me think it might of been cool in a different way to just leave that one at that. Perhaps a bit more finished, but it’s own self contained little instrumental. Imagine more of that one, Sage & Spirit, Serengeti, Stronger than Dirt etc, interwoven like the way they did with in and out of songs and drums in 76...you know, just snuck in some of those instrumentals here and there...quick in and out, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, know what I mean?

So, while we’re in the midnight hour, and we’re floating on the haze of the gentle green beer glow, just want to thank all the beautiful folks for all the thoughts and kind words! With that, please allow a couple of relative memories.
So back in the early days Pops often would Chaufeur us Pre Beavis and Butthead shitheads to and from concerts. Often, instead driving back and forth, he’d stick around and eventually vacate the front door, which would lead to him chatting up some cop. They would enviably get around to the show when my father would ask something like “so what’s this all about” or some such thing, to which the cop would 9 outta ten say “oh, you wantta go in and check it out”? to which the old man would fain “oh really, wow, that’d be great”. So the cop would tell him to wait and look for his sign, which when it came would have the old dude breezing right on in, lol. So of course this meant some of our early dead shows, and right from my first one he really dug Sugar Magnolia, One Mo Saturday somewhat to, but Mags was his tune. He would sometimes ask us to play it too!
Second tale: one time the rents were off to FLA to see Gramps, and he had to move my car out of the driveway early the next morning when they left. So after yet another night of debauchery, aaa, an associate of mine, unbeknownst to myself, had left aaaa, “alternative cigarette” on the front seat. So next day, I’m finally up and all happy, beautiful spring day, have the house to myself for 2 weeks... so off to wherever in the morning, ah, more like afternoon in those days, and just like that, (que sound of plane spiraling into the earth)...there’s a note on the front seat, along still with the joint...”is this what I think it is?” We need to have a talk”....Fuuuuuuuuuuuudddddgggggeeeee, only I didn’t say fudge!
At first I was like WTF, but then I figured, hey, it’s a nice day, I have this here J, buy the ticket take the ride. What can I do about it now. So “I’m all stressed out Jerry” and finally, for good or ill, he calls a few days later: they made it, your grandfather says hello, the weathers great, played gof etc”....not a word! Hee-hee, not a word to the day he passed!
Pops had his short comings and faults like us all, but for his background and generation, he could be pretty hip!

Nappy/Billy: those look like sweet shows.
Nappy, wild story. I love stoned, spooky, powerful places like that. Very interesting energy I bet.

Ok, back to warm hazey green beer glow...accompanied by drums and space...
Night John Boy...night Mary Ellen...

PS: tank you, for lettin me, pee myself, again!

I seem to lack the discipline to listen to listen anniversary shows. I was all prepared to start the 1990 boxes ( thanks again, Oroborous ), with the excellent 3/14/90 show this morning...but last night I finished up on the first PNW show, 6/22/73, and although I started on 3/14/90, I had to take it off and carry on into 1973. 6/24/73 playing sweetly now. I'll start the 1990 boxes after the PNW. Although by then it may be time to start Europe 72 again. Maybe I should just forget what day it is.

I lack discipline too. I just finished the Denver Road Trips show last night and will pick up on the Dark Star > Eyes from the bonus disc when I resume this morning. It's November 21st somewhere, right?

… KCJ, as pointed out earlier in this thread, you should have waited for the Modelo Especial truck. Wow.. I just googled Modelo to make sure I spelled it right and there is a Modelo virus too. Is PBR safe? Trying times..

Charlie3 - four reported cases in Montana,,,, my god that's half the population!

Jim - Yes PBR is safe, because who the hell would drink it! And I wouldn't worry about the stolen beer truck, when I saw it was nabbed by person or persons other than you I followed. When they went inside I licked the top of every bottle, AFTER rubbing those USED test kits around my mouth! That will teach those thieving bastards!

Oroboroman - Going with the Sly line from Thank You, only if you kept to more original line it be much more painful,,, "I want to thank you falettinme pee mice elf agin". Bladder infection bad enough, but passing mice AND elves!!! OMG

Reminds me of the time I fertilizer the lawn and laid a rug in the same weekend. Couldn't pass water for a week.

I've been working my way through the PNW Box again myself, finished all 3 of the '73 shows and moving on the '74 shows soon. Hard to pick a favorite out of the '73 shows in that box, but I usually gravitate towards 6/22/73. Although that Dark Star - Eyes on 6/24/73 is a smoker...

Currently waiting for the Miles Davis album Big Fun to arrive. I was listening to the Complete Bitches Brew Sessions earlier this week and really grooved on Great Expectations. I noticed that it had been previously released and looked to see what album it was on and it was Big Fun so I checked it out and discovered that it contains a 27 minute version of Great Expectations whereas the Complete Bitches Brew Sessions version is only 13 minutes, so I had to pick it up. Cool stuff, looking forward to checking out the longer version.

This release had epic sound quality when it was released in 1997 (to help fund the construction of GD Land, which we never did get). It sounded so good compared to my hissy tapes, and better than other official releases at that time. I used this release to convert at least one non-Deadhead, and to get other non-Deadheads to at least be willing to listen to GD for a while.
The sound quality is still epic today. Fortunately, we now have and continue to receive other shows with amazing sound quality.

Day 1 inside the dome.....
(referring to the dome in The Simpson’s Movie)

Time for another cup of super dark roast Columbian Supremo. Thanks to Jim’s encouragement a few years ago I bought a coffee bean roaster and now can enjoy spectacular coffee.

This Althea is awesome. So was the Sugaree.

This one takes place in 2007.
I woke up one morning with a massive hangover. While lying there in bed trying to recollect the previous evening I started laughing because I remembered having a dream that I pissed into the drawer of my bedside stand.
I then thought, ‘oh shit!’.
I opened the drawer and sure enough, there was a puddle of pee.
I eventually recovered enough memory of the event to remember that as I was peeing into the drawer I was conscious enough to realize that the pee stream wasn’t landing in water. I stopped peeing and stumbled to the toilet. So, the drawer only had a puddle instead of being full.

A year or two after that I did the same thing but peed into a laundry basket. It had dirty clothes in it and they soaked it up.

In college my friend was sleeping at his girlfriend’s house and got up and peed in her underwear drawer. She was not happy!

Workimg out of order with 3/16 going now. We have 15 shows total for this tour, unreal. And yes, Terrapin Limited from 1997 sounds awesome, no slouch at all. Still for sale on this site and well worth it if you don't have it.

I hope we all still get this box next week, but who knows. So much changing day by day.

Peace all.

First, Dennis.. thanks man. That will give those thieving bastards a dose of their own karma. Good to see the quick wit and wisdom of the kind folks here put into action in the real world. I believe we do make a difference.

Second.. the Spring '90 vibe seemed to poke it's head out around here a week or two ago, perhaps there was a constant spillover from the Giants box last fall.

So I hop in the car Thursday to run some errands and go to the dentist and that sublime Eyes of the World from Nassau with Branford comes on sat radio.. lasted the whole drive. Later that night I was getting my hair cut and I hear a particularly crisp and also sublime Looks Like Rain with all the (I guess Mickey added) sound effects, again the same version that was on Without a Net. It dovetailed nicely into some of the conversations stated here earlier that day and the day before.. sort of like they were listening to us and adjusting their playlist.

Yea, when are we going to get that Grateful Dead version of Disneyland they promised us when Terrapin Limited came out.. and just how many copies did they limit it to? 300 million?

Have a good weekend all.

Funny story Icecrmcnkd. In the early '90s I was at a microbiology convention in Dallas, TX for grad school and we all had some beers at dinner the last night, some folks kept drinking thereafter. OV Splits in a bucket of ice was the starter if I remember correctly. Late that night, I drifted up from sleep to the sound of running water and discovered a fellow grad student - Al - standing in a stupor and pissing on the wall next to the beds. The rest of us were like, dude... It took him a while to hear the end of that.
This dude has it dialed in... https://twitter.com/CTVNewsJordan/status/1236043209433845761

Listening to Great Expec off Big Fun, nice sound for sure. I noticed I have something labeled Big Fun (bonus tracks), let me know if you get that with what you bought.

Edit - quick wiki check, shows album was re-release in 2000 with a second disc. All cuts are from other things or recordings made. The cut in question Great Expectations. Maybe longer because it's labeled as two songs on the wiki page, Great Expectations/ Orange Lady. Maybe that's the extra time. But yeah, this is a nice cut. I like this sound, always seems 'dark' with miles horn being the only light. That flashlight ray in total darkness. What do I know? But I like.

Thanks, I appreciate the offer. I ordered a 2 CD version that appears to have several tracks that weren't on the original album. I think there are versions of some of the other Big Fun stuff on the Complete Bitches Brew Sessions, and I think Lonely Fire is actually from the Big Fun album, that stuff really hits the spot sometime. On a different wavelength now listening to Joe Jackson's Look Sharp, a rocker from start to finish of the album.

2 hour documentary on Miles on British TV tonight -called Birth of the Cool.
Exceptional sound on the first two 1973 shows of that PNW box. I'd forgotten just how good it was. Sounds like Jerry's playing a strat, to me, although its hard to be sure. The pictures in the accompanying book all seem to be from 1974 when he had the Wolf slung round his neck.

Yeah, there is something menacing about that version of Great Expectations, dark and churning. Supercool. On the 4 disc Complete Bitches Brew Sessions Orange Lady follows Great Expectations and would put the total time at a little over 27 minutes, then it's followed by Yaphet and Corrado, Trevere, The Big Green Serpent, The Little Blue Frog (2 versions), Lonely Fire, Guinnevere, Feio, Double Image (2 versions), Recollections, and Take It Or Leave It. The original album takes up 1.5 discs, and the remaining 2.5 include the bonus tracks I listed, well worth while.
Edit: Looks like Ife and Go Ahead John may be the only things on Big Fun not included in the Complete Bitches Brew Sessions, which looks like it was originally released before the bonus material was added to Big Fun as most of the bonus tracks are listed as previously unissued but appear to be the same as on Big Fun.

Caught these guys last night: here's the setlist
Set 1
Cryptical Envelopment
ST. Stephen>Mama Tried
Dark Star
High Time
Turn on your Lovelight
Recreating Woodstock Set from August '69
Set 2:
Band Intros
Rocking Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu (shout out to coronavirus)
Cold Rain and Snow
Bertha
New Speedway Boogie>The Other One
What a great band, Tom C, Mark Karan, Stu Allen, Robin and a drummer I was not familiar with (but really good)
Very small crowd, the band streamed the show live on their facebook site, check it out, second set is still there I think. So good to see Mark and Robin again, haven't seem them since their Ratdog days, Mark looks great and in fine form. Tom was amazing, that New Speedway>Other One was classic.
Last live show I will attend until the the air is safe to breathe again, which may be months, who knows, without the testing that is needed, we will never know how many are really infected.
I'm still working but was told if coronavirus hits, we will be closed for at least 2 weeks. Not here in this part of the mountains yet, and I hope it never gets here. Stay safe, be smart and keep on keeping on. We will survive, we will get by. First post in a while, good to see you all have kept your sense of humor, some of those vomit stories were kinda funny, not what I expected to see here but all in good fun. Not into pukin' at all, but here's a short story. We were drinking and joking around the camp fire and of course, as fires go we got to burning some animal flesh and then more drinking and joking. The mood was good and I slipped away for a bathroom break behind a stand of short trees and bushes, as I stood there, it happened, a power puke, not one speck of cereal got on me or my beard or anywhere, just a quick one and done, turned my head, let it go and finished up the reason I was there in the first place and then right back to the fire and more drinking and joking, no one ever knew. do believe that was the last time I ever did that.

Miles Davis Quintet - Freedom Jazz Dance "It is a fascinating glimpse into the creative process of this legendary unit and especially its leader, as the three-CD set includes session reels (rehearsals, partial and alternate takes), remastered final takes and-most tantalizing-much in-studio banter. " An excellent release for those interested in hearing how Miles' songs and albums were developed. I believe it includes sessions from 1967 to 1968.
Have to agree with the comments about PNW - I only have the Believe It If You Need It edition - The playing and sound quality are A+. One of my favorites that I go back to often.
Last Five - You guys have me on a Miles Davis binge -Thanks
Also been listening to a lot of those He's Gone recommendations - I'm always a day late and a dollar short keeping up with you all...

I was hoping to see them in London in about three weeks time. The way things are going its looking less and less likely that I will chance it though. Just getting there on public transport is beginning to look hazardous. It wouldn't surprise me if it gets cancelled - which will at least take the decision as to whether to go or not out of my hands. A shame...they were great last year.

Continuing my way through the PNW box this afternoon with 5/19/74 and it is once again hitting the spot. I've gone back to this box a lot since it came out, my per listen cost is pretty low at this point. That jazzy sound of '73 and '74 is peak Dead for me so that has been one of my favorites to date. It isn't sold out yet either, which surprises me a little. If you dig the compilation I am guessing that you won't regret picking up the whole box if you have the cash.

I can't say enough good things about this show. The China Rider is an all timer.. Excellent show.

Edit: ...and Fourwinds, it was nearly 70 degrees here yesterday. Today, cold rain and snow.. snowed giant, beautiful flakes all day long and windy as fluck. . CR&S was almost always a welcomed opener.

Needed a palate cleanser from anniversary listens, so went with PNW also.
Considered 5-19, but I have that on vinyl and wanted to save that for later in the quarantine.
5-21 delivered as expected, but the end of Wharf Rat really sealed the deal.

Is this Box sold out yet?
Who knows?
But we can be pretty sure that the warehouse doesn’t know.

Or
“Beware Of Corona-Bot-Virus”

(Said in the announcer’s voice from Rocky and Bullwinkle when it came back from commercial and would give 2 titles for the upcoming scenes)

As I was perusing the ‘Recent Posts’ menu button on this site I noticed that there was a store, with a lot of content, located at the intersection of Internet and Dotcom streets, that was advertising its wares on a lot of different billboards on this site.

So, is it a Bot, or an actual human utilizing quarantine time to get a lot of spamming done?

So trapped in the Dark Star!!! One of those fun to listen to for 12 minutes, then a Mind Left My Body Jam, back into Dark Star for the first verse and then a little bit of exploring... all in 24 minutes followed by a great Stella Blue that was just meant to be played there, into Eyes of the World!!! Then topped off by Weather Report Suite.... be safe everyone. bob t

today I'm going to do a quick 420 mile turnaround visit to Phoenix from my home in No AZ...why may you ask....well I'm going to a TCM sponsored screening of a remastered 1933 "king Kong"....this movie is one of my top five of all time..I haven't seen it in a theatre since the early 70's...there was a theater on Melrose in LA, the Encore, that showed old movies....the prints weren't that great but it was just about the only place in town at that time you could see the classics...unfortunately two of my fave go to eateries are closed on Sunday...damn them! I will do a quick stop at Phoenix north side music shop...they always have killer stuff in the jazz and blues bargain bins....Happy Birthday Phil and have a fine Sunday y'all....

Going to sit in a movie theater right now? Theatres are closed in my state couldnt go if ya wanted too. Stay sanitary out their old timers, this ones more dangerous for y'all than anyone else.

Though I appreciate the allure, King Kong was one my favorites growing up too, except my experience with it was on Sunday re-runs and VHS tapes with grainy commercials.

On Amazon Listed!
Dicks Picks #29 being re- released this May 8th 2020! Brand new
Dick's Picks Vol. 29: 5/19/77 (Fox Theater, Atlanta, GA) & 5/21/... by Grateful Dead
Audio CD
$69.99
This title will be released on May 8, 2020.
Eligible for FREE Shipping

...this is a Primo release from two performances in 1977 And is the only dicks Picks release contained on/with 6 CDs of music.
Beautiful Audio & the band is All on fire! I don’t think there’s a dud in the whole completerelease. It even contains some bonus material not listed on the official release artprouction.
included are five unlisted bonus tracks, recorded October 11, 1977 at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma. October 11, 1977 bonus tracks:
"Not Fade Away" > (Buddy Holly, Norman Petty) – 16:39
"Wharf Rat" > (Hunter, Garcia) – 13:41
"Around and Around" (Berry) – 8:36 Additional material from this concert later appeared on Road Trips Volume 1 Number 2.
More music from the band's fertile April/May 1977 tour can be found on Dick's Picks Volume 3, To Terrapin: Hartford '77, Dave's Picks Volume 1, 30 Trips Around the Sun, Download Series Vol. 1, May 1977, Fallout from the Phil Zone, the reissue of Terrapin Station, and May 1977: Get Shown the Light....

But is DP 29 worth buying? (I did pre-order regardless!?!?!) I never bought any of the DP's when they were coming out. I was off else where somehow. But my buddy bought them all and made me copies of them all. The first copy was truly just a copy with sharpie markings on disc. But the second set he went hogwild. He copied all the cd's themselves and printed blanks to look the same, copied the covers, you get the idea, so my second set looks like the real deal. I've seen talk of Real Gone re-issuing the DP series and have never jumped in. Worth it, not worth it. Should I start to hunt down "real deal/original" releases? Like I said I have them all to listen to. What intrigued me about this was the "bonus" stuff. Are these real gone stuff limited? Or will you always be able to buy them? For now this one's pre-ordered!

But, one's saturation level on May '77 may preclude this being up your alley. I love May '77, and I don't listen to all the releases that often, partly because the sound is so similar. DP 29 is two full shows right after the first May box and right before the bastardized DP 3 of 5/22, and they are good shows, as one ought to expect. Will it blow your mind as much as it would have when released originally? Not likely if you have DaP 1, May '77, Get Shown the Light, and Hartford '77. Another way to look at it would be: if/when they release the rest of May '77 are you going to want it complete? Completists will definitely want it, and a decent price for 6cds.

I need to check out that Billy Strings with Michael Cleveland. Michael is one helluva fiddle player. Been cognizant of his abilities since Merlefest 2001 where he burned it up with Rhonda Vincent and the Rage and sat in with a couple bands. I imagine the combo of he and Billy made for an awesome treat!

Happy birthday, Phil! Sorry the shows got canceled, especially with the surprise lineup idea.

yes, they are all limited re-releases. Is it worth $70 to have an official release instead of a copy, I would buy the new release and keep it sealed or play the hell out of it ...really it’s all ones own. Preferences . I would recommend this dicks Picks Pick a top 10 Release in the series if your fan of 1977 Dead era tunes during this time period! 🙏❤️😎💀🌹

Opening track

The Changeling

"I live uptown
I live downtown
I live all around

I'm a changeling
See me change

I'm the air you breathe
Food you eat
Friends you greet
In the (not so) swollen street"

Sounds like Covid-19 singing the blues

Also
Specials Ghost Town

"This town is 'coming like a ghost town
All the clubs have been closed down"

Dick's Picks 29 is a gem, if you don't have this one it is absolutely worthwhile. Alvarhanso sums it up pretty nicely so I won't belabor the point, but absolutely an excellent release.

Count me among those who love this show. I dont have the DP, but charlie miller has a board up etree that is fantastic. Apparently his doesn't have a cut in China Doll. He also has a complete 5/22 that is also top notch, and not missing any songs.

....you magnificent bastard. Can't sing worth a shit, but neither can I.
And to all the hoarders out there, you suck. And to the stores allowing it, you suck more. No grilled cheese you you!!!
Loving the Phil stream though Relix. Extra cheese?
Think about it. Years ago, we were supposed to have flying cars by 2020. Instead, we're teaching people how to wash their hands. Smh. Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile. And wash your hands!!!!

Good to see "Electric Warrior" crop up in Charlie's last 5. To paraphrase John Lennon, "Before T.Rex there was nothing." My first album was Electric Warrior, Christmas 1971 and my first gig T.Rex May 1972.

Other great albums I have listened to in the last day as recommended on here are "One Way..Or Another," By Cactus (Sam) and 2nd Set Allman Brothers Band (Oroborous). First set ordered earlier on, and maybe get the Mitch Ryder and Detroit Wheels box as a precursor to the Cactus.

Going through Dead Spring 1990 and PNW 1973 at different times in different moods. Two very different bands.

It’s probably more dangerous for me to be at home and work than it is to be in the big city...although our Asian clientele numbers have fallen by 80% we’re still an airport at a major world attraction...besides if I survived drop drills in elementary school, the draft, Nixon and cancer I figure it’s all a cherry on top

I've been blown away by the released songs so far -- really looking forward to this box set (can't believe its not sold out yet). The Cosmic Charlie from 6/14/76 is stunning!

With respect to the prior comments on DP 29 -- one of my favorites as well. So hard to pick from May 77, but Hartford and Buffalo are probably at the top for me. Tuscaloosa is another personal favorite.
